Some of the top stories we are working on this morning, more details about a manassas woman accused of going on a wild ride from virginia to maryland. It ended with a crash in bethesda. Police say the woman crashed into i anumber of kors outside walter reed medical center. A civilian officer opened fire and hit the windshield. Officers say she was screaming and asking strangely when they detained her near white splint mall. Police in Fairfax County are asking for your help in identifying this man who they believe is groping women from behind in broad daylight and taking off. Police say at least six cases have been reported and they are investigating whether all of the cases are related. The sioux is described the suspect is described as hispanic, 5 6 tall. Before a report on the meningitis outbreak. Reporter the fungal meningitis outbreak has now hit its 17th state leaving 23 people dead. Investigators say that they found unclean conditions at the building where the drug was manufactured. Our investigators documented several deficiencies. The Massachusetts Governor has ordered regulators to conduct surprise inspections at similar types of pharmahe pharmacy boar immediately start up announced inspections of compounding pharmacies that prepare sterile injectable medications. Bail out, pick up route one from the crept are point parkway, take that northbound at the 60 courthouse road and reconnect with i95. That will be the answer for you this morning. That will be the key to getting you where you need to be. Route 1rbgs a much more narrow road and a lot of folks will be using this as an alternative to work their way out of stafford. Route 1, a much more narrow road. The lanes are open coming in out of manassas. Also ad speed, the trip on southbound kenilworth avenue down towards pennsylvania avenue. Thats a check of your fox 5 ontimetraffic. Imetraffic. Making headlines, main as as woman facing a number of charges after a wild ride that inned with a crash in bethesda. Police say she was speeding on interstate 66 just before noon yesterday and drove into maryland and began smashing into cars. At one point, she tried to back into a civilian officer working for the navy who then opened fire and hit the windshield. She drove off and crashed into a fence. Officers say she was screaming about jesus and acting strangely while being hauled into custody. Were told they noticed her biting or attempting to eat a bar of soap. She is a licensed nurses aide but we are not sure when she has any prior connection to walter reed. Also making headlines this morning, police in Fairfax County are investigating whether a serial groper has struck again. They say another woman was grabbed and attacked from behind. There have been at least five other cases just like this one, incidents where young women were taxed from behind and groped. Now, miss are comparing the suspect description. In several cases, the man they say was wearing a tshirt and a red baseball cap and jeans. It was 4 20 in the afternoon near the intersection of south maple avenue and gibson street, a woman pushing a baby in a controller becomes a target for the a creep. The suspect walks up behind her. She was distracted talking on her cell phone. He walked up behind her, grabbed her, groped her very aggressively. He did hot let go of her until she yelled. She started screaming trying to get the attention of people. Reporter police say the suspect ran way. According to witnesses, he is about 5 6, his pan wick a medium to dark complexion and short hair and skinny. This does seem to match the description. Springfield cases. At least five victims there and some of them as young as 15 years old. Police are reminding people to be aware of their surroundings. They are also wanting to hear from members of the public, whether they know anybody matching the description of the suspect or whether they know of any other similar incidents that police should be aware of. The 13yearold was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and entered an alford plea meaning he wasnt admitting guilt but knew there was enough evidence to convict him. The teen beat his 2yearold foster sister to death no unknown reasons. He cannot be around any children and can only have contact with his family under supervision. A d. C. Tax Office Employee is accused of a massive fraud totaling nearly 4 million. Prosecutors say Kimberly Davis accessed records and filed more than 1,000 fraudulent tax returns. Reporter to an audience, car manufacturer volvo showed a spread i dont that shows real human beings including children getting into a car driving on a highwaylike road and becoming part of a platoon of vehicles. Lead vehicle is piloted by a human driver. The cars behind it ask to join the platoon and once they are accepted, the driver in the car can turn around and play with the kids. This is not animation. Cars are effectively driverless. Google is also experimenting with selfdriving vehicles and in this Company Demonstration video they asked Californian Steve mahan who is legally blind to sit behind the wheel. The google vehicle recognizes a stop sign, checks for cross traffic and continues navigating to the parking lot of a taco stand to the ordering station and then to the drive in window where the blind driver gets a burrito to go. The it uses radar, cameras and spinning laser beam to guide it and it keeps learning. So while you may have driven 15,000 miles over last year, our vehicles have driven about 300,000 miles.
