the last couple of days have been unseasonably cool but we've got changes and that's good because we've got a big baseball game later today. there is fog and low clouds still hanging up. i think when you get up this morning, out the door, we'll still have the clouds. but by late morning, early afternoon, it should be a great day, a nice mostly sunny affect for the baseball game and we are expecting dry conditions out there for your wednesday. the forecast much improved over the last couple of days. more details including a look at some actual numbers like temperatures coming up in just a minute. back to you. >> thank you. some of the top stories we are following, playoff baseball officially kicks off in the nation's capital this afternoon. the nationals and capitals face off for game three of the nl division series with the series tied at one. first pitch is at 1:07. the nats need to win two game to advance to the league championship series. howard brooks will learn his fate in court later today. brooks pleaded guilty back in may to lying to the fbi about giving under the table payments for suleiman brown. brooks faces up to six months in jail but prosecutors say they are willing to grant him probation. the death toll in the meningitis outbreak has now risen to 11. more than 100 people are reported sick across 10 states. in virginia, 24 cases have been reported including one death. two facilities received the tainted steroid linked to the outbreak. some lawmaker are calling for stricter regulations of pharmacies. first lady michelle obama is urging people in the battleground state of virginia to get out and vote. >> the swing state is one of the maces that really matters most in the final weeks of the campaign. beth parker has more. >> thank you. >> no problems. the ramp from the inner loop to the beltway to exit onto westbound 66 was closed for overfight construction that. should be open shortly. no problems on 95 and 395 between the occoquan apiece. the team got a practice in at nats park yesterday coming off monday's eight-run loss against st. louis. our dave ross will be reporting live from nats park starting in just about a half hour. and if you are riding the rails to get to the game, metro has some advice for you. you should try to avoid switching lines downtown. you might want to take the new jersey avenue entrance to the navy yard ballpark station because it is often less crowded and make sure you have your smart trip or fare card before you leave for the game to avoid the long lines at the vending machines. >> in the nat go to the national league championship, you can buy your tickets starting today at 9:00 a.m. two tickets max can be purchased for each game online. a limited number of standing room only tickets will campaign aide to d.c. mayor vincent gray will learn his sentence. howard brooks admitted to grieving suleiman brown fraudulent money orders. yam brown has been ordered by a judge to check in with the court in person and not over the phone. brown was given an overnight curfew from 11:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. brown will be sentenced next month by the same judge for bank fraud. lawyers for jerry sandusky say they plan to appeal his sentence. tuesday, a judge sentenced sandusky to a minimum of 30 years in prison. sandusky was convicted earlier this year of sexually abusing 10 children. during tuesday's hearing, some of his victims testified and described how sandusky's abuse changed their lives. sandusky also addressed the court and denied any wrong doing. some of his victims are suing penn state over how the university responded to the complaints about sandusky. ts a developing across the country this morning, two democratic lawmakers are calling for stricter recollect laitionz of certain >> it was wonderful. >> and now air back. >> nice and sunny where you were? >> it was sunny in the 70s every day. >> you missed all the cold weather. >> he likes it show. >> i missed out. one day it was 50. i was upset when i was missing the cold rain. >> ridiculous. >> it will be better today. another cool one yesterday with highs in the 60s. it did top out at 64 at reagan national. the trend the last couple of days, i'm probably telling you what you already know, has been rather cloudy and foggy. we are starting off that way this morning. by late morning ring early afternoon, we'll start to see some breaks -- by late morning, early afternoon, we'll start to see some breaks in the clouds. 57degrees at reagan national. off to the north and west, we are falling back into the low 40s. nice school start to the day. we should warm up today into the upper 60s to about 70. the gray milky color you see there, that is your cloud cover and your fog that continues across the area. still some light drizzle up into new york and northern new jersey. we're sort of between systems. we have this cold front out to the west that will get in here later this afternoon. but it is actually good news. it will finally kick all the cloud cover out of here and we should get a nice southerly breeze that will allow some sunshine to break out. behind this front, cooler temperatures tomorrow. kind of a one-day warm-up. early clouds, afternoon sun and warmer. if you are going to the game today, should be nice out there. winds will be out of the west 10 to 15. the winds will pick up a little bit later this afternoon. 45 tonight. it will be quite cool overnight. winds shifting here out of the north and west. a few clouds and cool overnight. here is your accu-weather seven- day. check out the sunshine. it will be on the cool side. a nice warm-up, most of the weekend looks fantastic. saturday, mid-60s and sunday, mid-70s. we're nice and dry here for the next several days in case we have more than one baseball game. i guess we're guaranteed more than one game. probably two games. >> i think so. just thinking about this and i toe that a lot of folks were kind of having some issues with the timing of the game. as far as your traffic commute goes, remember, the end of the game will be towards the end of our rush hour commute so, unless you plan on hanging out downtown, you may want to consider taking metro. i don't think it will be a big problem for you guys headed out for the 1:00 game. but once the game lets out, you got to get back home and that could be a problem for you. take your time being grab a bite to eat and hop on metro or simply wait it out. on the roads, southbound 270, no issues reported right now. we are dealing with a little bit of road spray so the wipers are getting a workout as you travel through rockville. overnight roadwork was set up here on 66 between nutley street and the beltway. there was also construction blocking the ramp from the inner loop of the beltway to head westbound on 66. you will find your lanes are open both on 95 and 395 between the occoquan and pentagon. that's a check of your fox 5 on-timetraffic. on-timetraffic. monitoring metro this morning and the latest crime numbers for the system. serious crimes have gone up in the last year. they include things like aggravated assault, thefts and robberies. they are up almost 7% for this time last year. the largest jump was in robberies. mostly thefts of iphones and other electronics. based on those crime numbers, metro transit police report the 10 most dangerous stations in the system. you can see the list there your screen. seven of the top 10 most dangerous stations are in d.c. the other three are in maryland. the election is still weeks away but metro is already plan for the inauguration. the agency estimates between 500 and 800,000 people will ride metro for the festivities on january 21st. what you are looking at is video of of the crowded metro stayings during the 2009 inauguration. riders will be charged peak fares all day on the 21st with peak service extended all day to handle the extra traffic. metro will also issue a special commemorative smart trip card with the president's picture on it. the president will be sworn in on january 20th which is a sunday. the public ceremonies will be held on monday, the 21st. ay, t navigating d.c.'s traffic circles can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. but up next, wait until you see the shortcut one driver took and it was all captured on video. >> plus, his school bus driver passed out behind the wheel. one quick-thinking student took control. we'll have more on that coming up after the break. well...everyone tells a little white lie now and then. but now she wants my recipe well...i'm not at liberty to give that out, but we do use tender chunks of white meat chicken in an herb & spice broth. come on that's it? [ male announcer ] progresso. you gotta taste this soup. most of us know how to handle d.c. traffic circles i think for the most part but this guy did not. take a look. he drive right through the middle of logan circle, parked there and drove around the circle sidewalks before exiting on to the street. maybe thought the park was so beautiful there. the video was posted by someone from the prince site. >> that is real bizarre. what do you do if you are riding the school bus and your driver passes out? that actually happened to some clarkszburg high school students in montgomery county friday morning. thanks to quick thinking by one of the students, everybody is okay after the driver lost control of the bus. karen gray houston has the story. >> reporter: high school students take the bus to school early. it was about 6:40:00 a.m. friday when 17-year-old dustin mitchum was on a bus and got a frightening jolt. >> all of a sudden, the bus starts shaking. >> reporter: he had been listening to music on his ipod. several other students had just got opt bus. >> the bus driver then stop ad bankruptly and his head slumped down. >> reporter: they had been traveling along price's distillery road when the bus driver had a medical emergency. dustin rushed up front and tried to shake the driver awake. >> then i picked up the bus radio and i radioed to them saying my bus driver blacked out. we need help. >> reporter: can you still see the bus tire tracks on the front lawn where the bus came to a halt. >> i got up and look out my window and i seen flashing lights coming from everywhere. >> reporter: what were you thinking was happening? ithought maybe the bus had a flat tire. >> reporter: bob bowers lives nearby and sought whole thing. >> it came 10, 15 feet from hitting the pole. >> reporter: the principal at clarkburg said the school was proud of how the students handled the emergency. >> he had no idea what was going on with the bus driver but he did stand up as the bus was probably rolling towards this spot right here. >> i'm so proud of him. i'm so proud of the way he handled himself and he -- i know my husband didn't mention this but he did call mom and tell me what was going on. >> reporter: dustin is a take charge kind of a guy who knows how to step up in a crisis. he says when he graduates from clarksburg high here, he is going to go to trade school and become an electrician. in montgomery county, karen gray houston, fox 5 news. >> good for dustin. his family has expressed concern about the condition of the bus driver but citing privacy concerns, they have not released any information about his condition. spending some time with your special someone or checking your facebook act. >> please tell me you are spending some time with your special someone. details about social networking. stay with us. we'll be right back.
