Hes covering the demonstrations. Cole you were actually hit by a rubber bullet fired by police. What is the situation like there well, annemarie, good morning. We saw a lot of rubber projectiles being used after demand by demand from police officers, asking these demonstrators, these protesters to move. I did get hit by one. What we saw in the last couple of minutes is Portland Police officers, Oregon State Police officers, the local Sheriffs Office boxed in the group of protesters that is right here in the heart of downtown portland. Thats where we are now. This is the demonstrations began about 5 00 pacific time. City. We saw them marching across some of the major bridges here in town. And we also saw a lot of vandalism, as well. So this was dubbed a peaceful protest. Really it was for most of the night until we saw what the Portland Police bureau is calling an anarchist group. Thats what we kind of see out here now, this fringe element out here now dragging newsstands into the streets, lighting fires on top of these newsstands. Throwing glass bottles at well here in downtown portland. Again, what was supposed to be a peaceful protest, 4,000 people at one point, has really turned into a riot. Again, storefronts vandalized. Windows shattered. Projectiles thrown at officers. Live. Im not sure if were live right now you can see the Police Presence now. This is the heart of downtown portland. They made arrests here just minutes ago. Theyve got the van here. Im assuming theyll be putting pe i all night, again, really just pure unrest. And this is by far one of the wildest and worst protests ive ever seen. But again Portland Police saying it was this fringe element, these anarchists who caused all this trouble tonight.
