That breaking news a pilot is ok after the unscheduled landing of his plane in a corn fid highway ck in the town of randall the Kenosha County Sheriffs Office says the plane took off from an airport in burlington and soon encountered engine problems. Deputies say the plane was on its way to chicago and engine started failing. The 72 year old pilot managed to safely land the plane and wasnt hurt. This happened last thursday outside a home in brown deer Rikki Mitchell joins us now with more its a story thats new at five the video released today comes from the first responding officers dash cam but the family has asked that we not air video of the attack so we are only showing still images. When the first officer on scene turns onto 48th street from dean road police say he immediately sees the attack in progress. One of the dogs is taking a girl to the ground and the other already has the second girl on the ground and is biting her in the video you see the officer run over and draw his weapon. One victim runs away the second girl is still on the ground. The officer fires one shot at the primary dog in the attack the second girl then runs away as well. But the dog continues to advance on the officer. Police say the officer ended up having to fire his weapon six times all six shots hit the two pitbulls. The officer realized the girls were in immediate the attack. According to the cdc about 4. 5 million dog bites happen each year in the united states. And more than half of those injuries happen at home with family dogs. In this case police say the attack started inside the home with dogs that lived with one of the teens. The girl ran outside to escape the dogs. Thats when her friend arrived at the house and the dogs began attacking her as well. Ive been a Law Enforcement officer for almost 30 years and ive never seen an incident this horrific by two dogs police say they havent determined if there will be any criminal charges. The dogs owner is cooperating with the investigation. Both girls received serious injuries but police say they are expected to survive.
