Investigators like lieutenant tommy potter were called out early in the morning of february 12, 2013. 08 17 it wasnt until they were fully involved with putting out that fire that they realized we have another problem that problem a body burned beyond recognition. It was found in this spot about 15 feet away from the car. Through dental records and examiner identified the body as Torrey Anderson. 00 52 its kind of a mystery for us. What happened to torrey . It s a question that remains unanswered. He was living in murfreesboro North Carolina, working in smithfield but had recently been hanging out with people in newport news. 11 39 this has very much been a case that has consumed me and the other investigators that are working on this 08 25 lieutenant potter says anderson was at this apartment near 43rd street and roanoke avene in newport news the weekend before he was killed and potter says what happened that weekend could be a clue in figuring out who killed anderson 12 52 for whatever reason, something at some point and we think it had to do when he met those people in newport news whoever they are got him distracted or put him in a position that ultimately led to his death but why . Anderson had spent time in jail in North Carolina on a weapons charge but had moved in with his grandparents to get away from negative influences. Eventually investigators identified a person of interest. 18 43 all i can tell you is in the weeks before torreys death we was seen with this person, he was with torrey the saturday night before torrey was killed and he was introduced to torrey by a mutual acquaintence but that person isn t speaking with Law Enforcement anymore. 20 54 there are a lot of people that have come forward and given very vague statements his family is hoping someone will now give investigators something more specific.
