Ronald ramey and leonard suspect. William october. The trial is expected to last all week. A woman faces reckless driving charges following a three vehicle crash in campbell county. It happened around four sunday afternoon on route 696. Struck an acura after failing to brake in time. The acura was then hit by another car. All five people involved in the crash. Including baretts young daughter are being treated for serious injuries. The incident remains under investigation. A ski lift at a popular resort in West Virginia will be closed indefinitely. This comes after a mechanical failure caused the cables to drop at timberline resort. Leaving nearly one hundred people stranded. And injuring two others. Seven people were treated on scene. Two were sent to the hospital. But are expected to be ok. It took the ski patrol about two hours to remove everyone from the lift. No word on what caused the malfunction. Northside High School Students and parents. Still have questions. After the announcement of changes in leadership at the school. And threats of a School Shooting last week. Tonight. One Roanoke County School Board Member is hosting a Community Forum as a chance for parents to come together to voice their questions and concerns. Earlier this month it was announced that Northside High Schools principal would be stepping down and the vice principal would be reassigned. Tonight offers parents and students their first chance to meet the new administration that will be in place for the remainder of the year. Doctor dan lyons, the former superintendent for lexington city public schools, has been selected as the interim principal. I spoke with tom mccracken, the Roanoke County School Board Member who called this Community Forum. He says he made the plans before last weeks shooting threat at the high school but expects a lot of questions about that incident and the way it was handled as well. Many parents were upset the school learned about the threat wednesday afternoon. And didnt alert parents until thursday morning, just before classes started. I really dont know where we couldve gone, what we couldve done, if we couldve done it better. My job as a School Board Member is to try and investigate and find out we do things, or if we made a mistake and need to step back, then we need to be willing to do that. Many students, including mccrackens daughter who attends northside, stayed home from school on thursday. Once the threat was determined a hoax, his daughter returned to class. Tonights meeting starts at seven. At Northside High School. All parents. Students. And Community Members are welcome to attend. There have been a lot of rumors on the principal changes. And roanoke in rockbridge county, there were no snow days built in last year. So they made changes for this year. Building in five additional student days and adding time to the school day too. But didnt address the reports until early thursday morning. There was an increased Police Presence on campus. As investigators worked to figure out that the threat was actually a hoax. Jurors are expected to hear closing arguments in the murder trial of waynesboro reseve Police Captain kevin quick today before starting deliberations. The defense rested on friday after calling five witnesses to the stand in federal court in roanoke. Before that, prosecutors questioned the alleged ringleader of the 99 goon syndikate. Six people are on trial. Four are charged in quicks death, the other two are accused of being part of a racketeering conspiracy. The prosecution has called more than two dozen witnesses and entered 400 pieces of evidence in the case. Quick was in february 2014. His body was found a week later in goochland county. The trial begins today for one of the men charged in connection to a shooting that killed two and hurt four others in roanoke. Several charges were filed against demetrius wade. Including first degree murder. The charges stem from a shooting at the former obenchains Garden Center in january of last year. Ronald ramey and Leonard Hamlett were killed. The other suspect. William cabbler accepted a plea deal in october. The trial is expected to last all week. A woman faces reckless driving charges following a three vehicle crash in campbell county. It happened around four sunday afternoon on route 29 about a mile north of route 696. 29 year old Megan Barrett struck an acura after failing to brake in time. The acura was then hit by another car. All five people involved in the crash. Including baretts young daughter are being treated for serious injuries. The incident remains under investigation. A ski lift at a popular resort West Virginia will be closed indefinitely. This comes after a mechanical failure caused the cables to drop at timberline resort. Leaving nearly one hundred people stranded. Seven people were treated on scene for injuries. Two were sent to the hospital. But are expected to be ok. It took the ski patrol about two hours to remove everyone from the lift. No word on what caused the malfunction. Northside High School Students and parents. Still have questions. After the announcement of changes in leadership at the school. And threats of a School Shooting last week. Tonight. One Roanoke County School Board Member is hosting a Community Forum as a chance for parents to come together to voice their questions and concerns. Earlier this month it was announced that Northside High Schools principal would be stepping down and the vice tonight offers parents and students their first chance to meet the new administration that will be in place for the remainder of the year. Doctor dan lyons, the former superintendent for lexington city public schools, has been principal. I spoke with tom mccracken, the Roanoke County School Board Member who called this Community Forum. He says he made the plans before last weeks shooting threat at the high school but expects a lot of questions about that incident and the way it was handled as well. Many parents were upset the school learned about the threat wednesday afternoon. And didnt alert parents until thursday morning, just before classes started. I really dont know where we couldve gone, what we couldve done, if we couldve done it better. My job as a School Board Member is to try and investigate and find out and if we need to change how we do things, or if we made a then we need to be willing to do that. Many students, including mccrackens daughter who attends northside, stayed home once the threat was determined a hoax, his daughter returned to class. Tonights meeting starts at seven. At Northside High School. All parents. Students. And Community Members are welcome to attend. There have been a lot of rumors on the principal changes. Students have to be in class for at least 180 teaching days or 990 teaching hours. Many School Systems rely on instructional hours. In henry county, the School System is trying to preserve spring break. And add two and half days to the calendar. Bedford county. And Roanoke County added two regular school days. In rockbridge county, there were no snow days built in last year. So they made changes for this year. Building in five additional student days and adding time to the school day too.
