And this is a serious story coming out of cleveland where a massive man hunt is expanding for a dangerous suspect. Police say he shot and killed an elderly man apparently picked at random and then posted the chilling video on facebook. Nbcs ron mott is in cleveland for us on the story. Ron, good morning reporter hey, matt and savannah, good morning to you. A very disturbing story were reporting this morning. We just got a photo of the victim, 74yearold Robert Godwin, a grandfather of 14, walking down the sidewalk yesterday, minding his own business. The suspect got out of his car, apparently picked him at random and then opened fire. We should warn you, the video youre about to see is graphic and upsetting. This morning the city of cleveland is on high alert. Police and the fbi scrambling to find this man, suspected of posting video on facebook that shows an execution in broad daylight and claiming to be responsible for multiple other murders. Im about to kill this guy right here. Reporter the horrifying video posted sunday appears to show the suspect, identified by police as Steve Stephens, getting out of his car and telling his victim hes going to die because of a woman. Shes the reason why shes about to happen to you. Reporter steph handgun. Shortly before the murder, stephens described his motivation on his facebook page, which is now no longer active. I lost everything i had, man. Reporter claiming a woman he was dating is responsible for making him snap, blaming her for his alleged crimes. The people im going to kill today, easter sunday, is not my first. Reporter but the suspect also makes chilling claims that hes killed others, though his claims have yet to be verified. What happened today is senseless and if steve has an issue, he needs to talk to some folks to get that resolved. Reporter Law Enforcement Officials Say they have not located any additional shooting scenes or bodies and are asking stephens to reach out to family and local clergy for help. Were asking him to turn himself in. Were brought everything to bear on this from our federal partners, our state and local partners. We want him to turn himself in. If that doesnt happen, well look until we find him. Reporter all right, now, this is the Vehicle Police are searching for. It is a fourdoor sedan, white in color with temporary ohio tags. They perfect their missile program. They are really trying to do two things. They are trying to get the elen trucks, making them mobile, and theyre also perfecting their solid fuel so they can launch in a hurry without that long lead time. They want to do this, matt and savannah, anywhere any time. Lets go back because the u. S. Intelligence suspected that they would test something much more severe, a nuclear device, the sixth test of that. They didnt. They test a mid range missile instead. They blinked. Well, maybe they did. They could have tested a nuclear weapon, which theyve done five times before going all the way back to 2006. They could have also flight tested their Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. That would obviously have the potential to range the united states. Much more provocative but the missile capability could hit japan or south korea and thats what we worry about, them attacking our allies or attacking south korea where we have 30,000 troops on the peninsula. Given this fivesecond failure, theres some speculation that perhaps the u. S. May have been involved somehow, sabotagit is that something thats within our capability . Do you think that seems likely . I dont know and if i knew, im not sure i could say. What we do know is that they are going to perfect this missile capability, put their program into overdrive and really try to threaten their neighbors in the region. When you hear words like this coming from our Vice President and general mcmaster that the era of strategic patience is over and general mcmaster saying all options still viable and theyre being refined, do you like that kind of talk when it comes to kim jong un . I like the silent treatment. What im more concerned about were the tweets from the president on april 1 1 and april 13 saying were going to take care of this problem ourselves. Well, also this morning, weve got some new developments to tell you about in the notorious crime in 1975 murder of martha marxly. Morgan is here with the latest on this. Good matt, savannah, anyone whos followed this case knows its had 40 years of plot twists and turns. Attorneys for kennedy cousin Michael Skakel say a possible new piece of evidence could blow this case wide open. This morning, attorneys for Michael Skakel, the nephew of robert f. Kennedy and his widow ethel say there could be a new murder weapon in the 1975 killing of martha and theyre trying to track it down. This finding is huge. It could single handedly exculpate Michael Skakel. The twist focuses on a golf club handle allegedly turned over to police in 1999, though according to skakels attorney, a report was never filed. If its a golf club handle that fits the other pieces of the golf club thats in evidence and its not the golf club handle the state suspected, then theyve had the case wrong for decades, havent they. 15yearold martha was found brutally beaten to death with a skakel and moxley were neighbors in connecticut. The nowmissing piece of evidence was purportedly found at the home where skakel and friends were watching television on the night moxley was killed. Defense attorneys say it could disprove prosecutors claims that the club used to kill moxley belonged to the skakel family. Now, in court documents, skakels attorneys argue they need to interview three witnesses they think could shed new details on what happened. Among them, barbara w. , who the defense says found the golf club on the property of skakels alibi with her father, peter, who managed the property and died last month. The defense said they, quote, immediately went to the Greenwich Police department, expressing a concern that their finding may be related to the moxley murder case. Providing evidence to the duty officer along with detailed explanations. The key question isnt so much who testifies, which skakels attorney was arguing, evidence would change anything if we learned more about it. This is truly marthas day. Reporter skakel was convicted in 2002 of murdering moxley. Im going to set a bond of 1,200,000. Reporter hes been free on bond since 2013 when his conviction was overturned after he argued his lawyer didnt adequately defend him in the original case. The connecticut Supreme Court reinstated his conviction late last year. A few months earlier, matt spoke to Robert Kennedy jr. About skakel. I strongly believe that hes innocent. That belief should not persuade anybody that he is innocent. What people should be persuaded by is the facts and thats been one of the pitfalls of this epic story from the beginning. Reporter skakel has always maintained his innocence. What i can do is what i do every day is pray to god and martha that whoever did this crime is brought to justice. Reporter we reached out to witness barbara w. As well as the Greenwich Police department, but havent heard back. Now the moxley family tells nbc news it has no additional comment as they weigh in on the connecticut Supreme Courts decision on skakels motion for reconsideration. Its a scene thats really rocking the reality show world and last weeks episode of cbss survivor, contestant jeff varner revealed that his competitor zeke smith was transgender, igniting a backlash that got varner voted off the island. Now hes also out of a job. There is deception here. Deception on levels that these guys dont even understand. Reporter it was the outburst and outing that left survivor viewers outraged. Why havent you told anyone youre transgender . Reporter now its cost jeff varner his job. The North Carolina resident filed as a Real Estate Agent after the episode aired. His firm telling nbc news, our core values of honesty, integrity, and respect led us to end our relationship. 8 Million People were watching when varner, facing elimination, turned on fellow contestant zeke smith, outing him as transgender. She probably thinks its raining in her nursery because im always, like, looking at her and crying on her. She must be like, what is happening in here . But i think its that shes the puzzle piece. When i firsthand handed me hale was scared to hold her and the minute she was in my arms, it was a perfect fit. I always had this feeling inside that i wanted a baby but i thought i was too late. I was divorced and i had cancer and you just think, okay, i dont get everything and its okay. And then all of a sudden, you look around and you go, well, and it just kept gnawing at me and one day, i said to joel, i want to ask you something. And i said, and this is a big deal. I want you to think about it. I dont want you to answer right away. I said, i would like to explore adoption with you. And he said, i dont need a minute. Im in. Dylan texted me, she said, i dreamed you were going to have your baby today but i also dreamed hoda was pregnant so maybe im crazy. Guess what . I had my baby that day. You know, in a candid interview with the telegraph, prince harry speaking out about something rare for the royals, his emotions, sharing the grief and anxiety he felt for years after the death of his mother, Princess Diana. Today, im okay. Im a little bit nervous. A little bit tight in the chest. Reporter in an interview, prince harry opening up about his struggles following that painful day nearly 20 years ago. I sort of buried my head in the sand for many, many years. Mom at the age of 12 and therefore shutting down all of my emotions for the last 20 years, has had a quite serious effect on not only my personal life but also my work as well. But first this is today on nbc. Hi, were back with something brandnew on today, food digital darlings. This is about chefs who are all the rage online. Mondays arent always the greatest but theyre a little better where the scent of freshly baked doughnuts is in the air and we have that this morning thanks to joy wilson. You had me at brown butter banana doughnuts. Yes, i did. This smells so good in here. Lets look, make the recipe, lets talk about the ingredients. So, making banana bread in my family is a little bit of a competitive sport so i had to bring my a game. Were starting with some classic banana bread ingredients, ive got cinnamon, nutmeg, banana, i use butter milk for a really nice moisture. But the secret to burnt butter how . Browned butter is a step before burnt butter. So, we have butter in over a low heat in a small sauce pan and as it melts down, the milk solids will begin to caramelize and brown. Theyre nutty and fragrant and that adds a really nice depth to the butter. That takes about how long . Takes about five minutes. Perfect. So we have our browned butter here. This is going to go into our doughnuts, obviously, but start by making the dry ingredients. So this is flour. Im going to have you add the spices and the elevening and salt. We have cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder and salt and thats sugar. That is sugar. Look at this. Key to donuts. Were not messing around. So give that a whisk and ill start to bring together the wet ingredients. But we have our browned butter here. What are these, mashed bananas . These are mashed bananas so bananas, you might have been a little overzealous at the Grocery Store. Use that same whisk and get in here. Thats browned butter, bananas, well do two eggs, a little bit of vanilla extract. Youve got great whisking technique. You should see me with scrambled eggs. And well do some butter milk too. And this wet batter is going to go right into the dry ingredients. Im going to let you do that. Do that here. Just guys downstairs, hoda, you came back to doughnuts. Oh my gosh. How do you get that much banana flavor into this . I cant. Is it good . Theyre talking about how much banana flavor it has. Im into this muffin. Thats next. Dont jump ahead. I did. Sorry. So, after a very good stir, this is our batter. And youre going to bake these doughnuts, not fry these. Youre starting to lose me here. I lovefr so do i. Theres Nothing Better than a fried doughnut except maybe this banana bread doughnut. Were baking them because its a little healthier and some people are intimidated by a whole pan of hot oil so we can just add this. Did you grease this pan . Yeah. And if you dont have a doughnut pan, you can dollop this into a waffle machine. 350 for ten minutes. Well show what they look like coming out in just a second. Now, savannah has heres where they are right here. We have to were going to also ice them. Yes, were going to ice them. I made a crumb topping, this is the crisp crumb topping, just a little crunchy bite without using nuts and here is our glaze and our finished baked doughnut. Thats crisp topping is fantastic. Yeah. I could eat this for breakfast cereal. Put some milk on it. Youll love it. So, heres our baked doughnut. You want then just dollop dop it. Thats a technical term. Worst is, i know what youre talking about. Bottom down into the glaze. And while the glaze is still a little soft and wet, you can sprinkle on the crumb topping. Are you a glaze or no glaze . Normally not a glaze but this is the best glaze ive ever had. Its heavenly. Seriously. Very generous. Ive had my two. Savannah mentioned the little cupcakes here. Theyre muffins. But this year, all of a sudden, it took on this magical feeling where its like this is the start of traditions for calvin and as he gets older, hes going to know that this is who we have at the table, this is what we eat and this is how easter goes. Everybodys experience is their own so i remember a couple years ago i was overwhelmed with all three of them and i didnt sign up for an Easter Egg Hunt and i didnt realize in new york city, if you want to sign up for an Easter Egg Hunt, you have to do it like 12 years in advance soy hid them in the house. This year they were like, are you going to hide easter eggs around . House. No problem. Look at that. Thats the way we do it. One of our these cute little ties so we had fun. This is literally across the street. Did you have to tell them to pose like that . They want to be cool. Getting to the point where i said, one, two, three, say cheese so i had to pic stitch the pictures to get all three of them looking somewhat, you know, at the same time. Getting a family photo is near impossible. It is. It really is. There you go. Actually, their big brother was in the picture but i had to crop him out because he was doing something crazy. And then this is fermented soybean paste and you can use red miso if you cant find and this is a magical sauce, fermented chili paste and if you cant find this, use another type of chili sauce is it works well. Mix that all in. Ill let you get started. Everything else, other than the noodles is anything that you have in your fridge. Weve got a chili, eggs, scallions, peas, chicken, shrimp, anything you have, just dump it in. I wouldnt put marshmallow peeps in. I dont know. Justin might have a recipe for that.
