Hes going to return here to washington tomorrow and is expected to visit dallas early next week. Were also learning more about the shooter. Micah johnson, Police Believe he acted alone moving from floor to floor targeting white Police Officers from above. And we want to get right to the very latest out of dallas. And as you mentioned, that gunman, 25yearold Micah Xavier Johnson, police are telling us he acted alone but you may remember it was initially thought his gunfire was mistaken for snipers which is why police are now calling him a mobile shooter. Today were learning a little bit more about him. While he was killed by a police detonated bomb we war in afghanistan and he had a serious grudge against cops and white people. Right now most of Downtown Dallas is still shut down while Police Still Search for evidence. Police here are calling it a wellplanned attack. Taking the lives of five officers and wounding seven more including two civilians. Police say that he had a written manifestos on how to shoot and move and he did just that. He wreaked chaos in what started out as a peaceful protest, shooting protesting the deaths of black men in minnesota and louisiana. Now again, Downtown Dallas is shut down as investigators look for evidence. The president is expected to be here next week to meet with the governor as well as victims. Live in dallas, back to you. They were all assigned to co w protest until the fateful shots rang out. 55yearold Michael Smith was known as a cops cop. He even received an award just for that from the Dallas Police association. Smith was a father of two who volunteered at his Catholic Church and the ymca and worked with kids at risk. Before joining the Dallas Police department back in 1989 he was a u. S. Army ranger. Officer lorne ahrens served on the Dallas Police department for 14 years. He came to texas from the Los Angeles County sheriffs office. His colleagues say he was a big guy with an even bigger heart. 43yearold Brent Thompson is a first d. A. R. T. Officer to be killed in the line of duty. Thompson served the dallas area Rapid Transit for seven years and had just gotten married two weeks ago to another transit officer. He also had six grown children and was a grandfather of three. Michael krol loved basketball and known for helping others. Become a Police Officer because his hometown of detroit wasnt hiring. The 40yearold had a girlfriend to whom he sent a text the night of the protests and told her, everything was going peacefully. Patrick zamarippa served in the navy, three tours in iraq before becoming an officer. His father says the 32yearold would bend over backwards to help anybody and described him as a patient and giving person. His family rushed to the hospital when they heard about the shooting. Met me and took me to a room and i just thought maybe we were, you know, he was in surgery or something. Zamarippa was the father of a 2yearold a stepfather to 10yearold. He joined the Dallas Police department five years ago and recently assigned to the downtown bicycle patrols. His father is calling for an end to the violence. All this hate has to stop. My son paid the ultimate price. I dont care if youre bla to stop. Were all gods children. Seven officers and two civilians were wounded in this attack. They are all expected to survive.
