As you know, it kept people from seven predominantly muslim nations out of the u. S. The argument that the ban allegations and presented significant constitutional questions. Derrick ward has more now with the reaction to this stoppage. Reporter see you in court. That was the response from the president after an Appeals Court, a threejudge panel, an Appeals Court in the ninth circuit upheld the suspension on his ban from travel from seven mostly muslim countries. The decision was seen by a step forward by opponents of the ban but the administration argued that the courts didnt have a right to review that. While the Supreme Court may end up with this case, the Appeals Court did not go into the actual efficacy of the ban or itself constitutionali constitutionality, only that they had the right to review it. Supporters of the ban say this will give the Administration Time to tweak this ban. I am confident that the Trump Administration will appeal t court. It will probably win. Even if it doesnt, the administration will revise the executive order to make sure that it is constitutional and it must put something in place to make sure that were not allowing in people who are terrorists. This is on the 700 block of maryland avenue. Fire visible from the front door of this home. Also smoke, you can see billowing from the roof of this house. We understand that two people have had to be transported to the hospital. The extent of their injuries at this time, we if you are familiar with the northeast Neighborhood Library this is pretty close to that location. So this is the 700 block of maryland avenue. As a result of that, you heard melissa talking about this just a short while ago. 60,800 blocks 600 and 800 blocks are closed this morning. The work will be done along the blue line between the rosland and pentagon stations. In fact, no blue line stations will be in service during the work. Arlington cemetery will be served by buses from the pentagon station. In order to accommodate blue line riders, metro will run the yellow line. Metro is also adding green rush plus trains between the huntington and Mount Vernon Square stations. If you take the green line, your travel time may be set back a bit in order to accommodate those additional yellow line trains. We know its a lot to keep track of. Com. That breaking news is in northeast washington. Crews on the scene of a big fire there on maryland avenue. Derrick ward is live reporter well, were in the 700 block of maryland avenue northeast, just a few blocks east of the capitol. Firefighters are concentrating on that row house there with the white porch next to the apartment building. It was just after 5 00 a. M. When they got a 911 call. When they got here they found fire on the first floor from the basement. Eventually it reached the roof. There were three people injured in this fire. Two males in critical condition. One female in minor condition and a firefighter suffered minor injuries as well. Now, this block of maryland avenue is closed. It will be for some sometime. Hopefully they will reopen it at rush hour but you will be directed around starting at about 8th street and moving on to the other side of the 700 block. Again, three people injured. Two seriously. They were taken away with critical injuries. A female was found in here with one person that actually got themselves outside of the house when firefighters arrived, the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but be aware there will be some traffic issues through here this morning. Thats where we find derrick ward with the latest. Reporter good morning. Well, we do have some more information. The second firefighter has been transported with minor injuries. Minor injuries, but three other people have been transported, two of them with serious injuries. Take a look. This is the house here in the 700 block of maryland avenue northeast. It was about 5 00 a. M. This morning when firefighters were called here. They were met by flames on the first floor and coming from the basement. Eventually they went all the way to the roof. We are told that one person was able to get out of the house on their own. The other two were transported in critical condition. Two men. The woman was the one that got out on her own. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but this block of maryland is going to be closed while exactly what caused this fire. Again, two firefighters with minor injuries. One of the states challenging the ban, he said we saw you in court and we beat you. This will likely head to the Supreme Court very quickly. The Justice Department saying its reviewing the decision but its a virtual certainty the government is going to try to do this again. Virginias challenge to the travel ban could bring the most significant state challenge yet. Lawyers for the state argue the travel ban violates the constitution and is a result of hostility towards muslims. Schools are back open in new york city, but theyre still closed, many of them, here on long island as snowplows still trying to make their rounds into the residential areas that werent hit yesterday, theyre still trying to put down some more salt. Trains as people here are catching trains, many of them going to work in new york city. Running about ten minutes behind schedule, so not too bad as for as that is concerned. But driving still a major hazard. People are warned to be extra cautious when theyre heading out this morning. 6 51 lets turn to our morning commute. Inbound clara barton parkway just after mcarthur a crash blocking the right lane here.
