But the problem here is going to be the timing of it allege. So as we go through the hours early tomorrow morning, we are looking at the snow falling right around the overnight hours. So before the morning rush, temperatures will be at or below freezing. That will be the Biggest Issue here. Take a look at the snowfall totals north of the off to the west. B less than an inch b around the district and points south. So that is going to be one area that well be watching as far as the time, the major roadways. But, of course, untreated roads, that will be the biggest concern. Well take a closer look at the timing and what you can expect with your driving, coming up. Lets get a check off traffic. Now, they say this is great because cars will come out here throughout the day and grind that salt into the ground and it should be ready at some point later this afternoon. Now, maryland officials are telling us, too, they are doing everything they can to get ahead of this snow to protect the roads. Take a listen. Our maintenance officials here are talking not only with our own personnel but contract trucks if needed to be ready once the precipitation hits. Now, there are chances, too, you will see these crews out working throughout the morning, throughout the day. And if you perhaps are behind them and hear that salt pinging on your car, we are told that is not a good sign. That means you are too close so slow down and allow those crews to work. Overnight, firefighters can ducted a rescue worker for a worker who fell 35 feet down a shaft. Megan mcgrath has more morning. Megan. Well, the worker was pulled out of this had utility shaft that you see behind me here. Its a shaft in the sidewalk on wisconsin avenue. He was rescued at about 3 00 this morning. Has serious injuries. Injuries to his legs, his back, also suffering tr hypothermia. But were told that he is expected to recover. Now, there was some overnight done in this shaft. Im joined by pete with the Montgomery County fire and ems. Talk about what was going on. Some maintenance work, they were down in the shaft. Yeah. You know, they are doing a lot of work throughout the whole metro system. This is just some of it is that is going on. This is next to the vent shaft, its a utility shaft, tul. This worker fell about 35 feet. So it was a little bit of a we had to do some roping and rigging and what we would call technical rescue to bring him up. Talk about his injuries. So it was consistent with what you might expect from fall. As you mentioned, possible leg injuries, back injuries, things of that nature. We had medics down with him right away. We had a plan a, b and c. But plan a went fine and we got him out in about 90 minutes or so. Thanks for joining us. The chase ended on the beltway in virginia near 95. A disturbing find in the district yesterday, a woman came across a violin case full of guns. She was hiking off canal road parking lot and called police. They did a full search of the area and found more guns. Were told they were in all kinds of bags and buckets, but no actual gun cases. Police are checking to see whether the guns were used in any crimes. Prince William County police are searching person responsible for a shooting. All this happened in a stretch between manassas mall and tone wall jackson high school. One man was shot and another was injured. Police think it may have been a drive by shooting. The worker fell while inside this utility shaft. This is right in the middle of a sidewalk here on wisconsin avenue near elm street. Now, apparently he had climbed down one ladder inside the shaft, got down to the platform area, was about to climb down a second ladder and thats when he fell to the bottom. He landed about 35 feet below ground. So he was all the way down at the bottom of this shaft. And that effort. This worker fell about 35 feet below where we are right now been it was a technical rescue to bring him you. Now, he did suffer leg and back injuries. He also was experiencing hypothermia. So serious injuries, but were told that he is expected to recover. For a while, we had a traffic impact here on wisconsin avenue as well as elm. The young girl, she called me, mom, please help me. Someone kidnapped me and theyre going to kill you. I said who are you . I cannot i dont know who are you. And i dont have any daughter. Police say if the threat involves your child or a loved one, try to call, text or contact them first. Then ask the person to call back from his or her cell phone. 11 before the hour.
