They asked for an ambulance from neighboring Prince Georges County but after finding out there wasnt one available chose to drive the baby to the hospital themselves. The childs aunt said he had asthma and lived in a hot apartment. The house is hot, its hot in there. A closer d. C. Ambulance eventually met up with the fire engine 15 minutes after the call went out. About halfway to childrens hospital, but then the baby was in Critical Condition and did not survive. An official cause of death has not been released. D. C. Fire and ems are promising to get to the bottom of the response. This death comes after two recent high profile incidents. A 77yearold man collapsed across the street from the firehouse and no one inside helped him. He later died. The firefighters on duty were disciplined but the lieutenant in charge was allowed to retire with her full position. Pension, rather. Earlier this year a 1yearold boy choked on a grape and the closest ambulance was not sent and a fire lieutenant was charged with neglect of duty. Good morning. Reporter good morning. Well, its relatively calm and orderly here at this intersection, but as the day progresses things will progress as well. So will the pedestrians, the cars, and the bicyclists and so will your chances of getting into some kind of accident. You know, back in 2010, this was deemed the second most dangerous intersection in washington. Second only to 14th and u. A break in the traffic, and the tesfai mesghi temptation is to dash across. But the sign says there is turning traffic. What they have done is blocked so pedestrians can cross diagonally. Now, the city has invested in the program called vision zero. That means by 2024, they aim to have no pedestrian fatalities in the district of columbia. This is an import from sweden. It is data driven and critics have said that theres not enough data to make it effective here in the district. Later on, mary cheh and other groups will bring light on that. Now a group of parents are asking for their bus stop back, but the School Board Denied their appeal. I do not walk on the trail by myself. There have been too many incidents that happened and its a very secluded, wooded area. I felt like if something happened, if somebody screamed nobody would hear. Loudoun County School board doesnt feel its unsafe to walk the route. The parents can petition the Transportation Department in hopes for a change. We hope to learn what went wrong at a texas hospital that treated an ebola patient. An independent review now says the hospital wasnt prepared. Chuck. Congress is launcng investigation into major problems that some army moms are having with day care and theyre doing it because of the news4 report. Last month we revealed that dozens filed former complaints about the u. S. General Services Administration. Its the federal agency that helps to pay for child care for military families. So the iteams Scott Macfarlane dug a little deeper. Now, one army mom said its a nightmare. A program called the Army Fee Assistance program backlogs, unreturned calls and late payments there. Its for army parents who cant find child care on their military post. Those parents are instead allowed to find a private day care at full price in the community. General Services Administration which oversees that program then cuts those parents a check to help pay for it. Now, we tracked down two of the dozens of parents who complained. Carmen dikes and Kayla Hemsley and the u. S. House Oversight Committee saw our story and called on the two to testify next week. They called on a high ranking official. And a report confirms what the moms toll us. The program is suffering a backlog of 11,000 unreturned calls and it might have grown even longer. The agency has taken steps to fix that backlog.
