Starting off early this morning we do have just a few high clouds beginning to drift over the metro area. Those high clouds will begin to thicken up a bit as we get into the afternoon hours. Theyre ahead of a cool front that will be triggering some rain but not arriving until after midnight tonight. Storm team 4 radar scanning our skies. Dont have any rain anywhere in the vicinity. So a beautiful saturday morning is getting under way. Temperatures are hovering near 40 in the rural areas. Mid and upper 40s in washington. Our future weather here just a few high clouds coming this during the afternoon hours. This is as of 11 00 tonight well begin to see these showers moving in hour by hour coming in to the panhandle of west virginia. By 3 00 on sunday morning, well have the showers getting into the Shenandoah Valley and then closer to the metro area, this is 5 00 a. M. Tomorrow morning a few light sprinkles coming through the metro area. Just a few light showers. Then by 8 00 still maybe a few lingering light showers for early tomorrow morning for the Marine Corps Marathon. Well have more detail on that and a look at big changes coming for the week ahead. This happened in bowie near benjamin pastor middle school. Were making calls to find out what happened here. Right now one of the strongest storms ever recorded is causing flooding and landslides through parts of mexico. Hurricane patricia hit Mexicos Pacific coast last night and its rapidly weakening as it moves inland. Kirk gregory shows us the damage and how millions are riding it out. Reporter Hurricane Patricia made landfall in mexico not far from the resorts of manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta. Residents tried to protect homes and many u. S. And canadian tourists that vacation in the area tried to get out or make their way to shelters to ride out the storm. So we were evacuated from our hotel this morning for the hurricane. We came to this Convention Center and then they said its not a safe place so were going to the texaco center. Reporter people in Puerto Vallarta were surprised they woke to a huge hurricane today. A little bit worried and nervous. Like curious. And i guess hopeful that its going to turn out good. Reporter winds were 165 miles an hour at landfall. Mexican authorities declared a state of emergency at open shelters. There are about 7 Million People in the area. The National Hurricane center predicts the storm will lose intensity once it hits mexicos interior mountains but may tribute to flooding in texas. Wow. Well, new this morning two men are arrested in Montgomery County after Authorities Say they stole hand guns from a vehicle assigned to a federal agent. Travis klor and johnson apparently broke into the car, stole a back pack containing two handguns issued to the agent. This happened in clarksburg on thursday morning. Both men face multiple charges and remain in police custody. Friends and family of a prince georges woman are wondering if more could have been done to prevent her murder. Those who loved amanda jones lit candles and prayed outside her home. A friend called police twice after hearing what sounded like a struggle twice. I think they could have done better than they did. If they got telephone calls, something was up. They tell us her boyfriend admitted to the murder. Frightening details about an attempted rape in alexandria happened just about 24 hours ago on canterbury square. She was in a basement laundry room when a man grabbed her from behind. He tried to take her clothes off. She fought back and hit him in the face with a vacuum cleaner. That cut him. He took out a knife and told her to stay in the room as he ran off. Now to a developing story on capitol hill. Theres barely a week left to vote and gop leaders are struggling to find the votes to raise the debt limit. Her studio is now rallying around her and raising money to help fight the disease. We share this inspiring story. Reporter Sherry Siegel is a survivor now devoted to exercise as part of her recovery from Breast Cancer. It makes me feel like i am doing something that makes my body better. Reporter sherry was diagnosed in january of 2014. The day i got the phone call ill never forget having a little piece of scrap paper and writing on that scrap paper cancer. Reporter she was just 41. It was her second routine mammogram. Knowing what that feels like as a mother, as a wife, as a child was probably the worst day of my life. Reporter shari tested positive for the braca gene and had a double mastectomy, her ovaries removed and breast reconstruction. It was painful. I was limited, one, how much i was able to push or pull or lift. Reporter after that surgery, shari, a physical therapist, ached to start training at the bar method in North Potomac with this team of women as she worked her way back into her workouts. I was able to modify thanks to the amazing instructors here. Reporter she says she remembers being fearful and weak but those feelings started to dissolve with each movement. After her first hour long class, shari felt like she was back and she broke down. I had fought for it and i had won and i was going to finish this class. And i was feeling so great and then i cried like a baby and it was the most beautiful it was a beautiful cry for me and it felt great. Reporter the surrounding mirrors may be intimidating to some. Shari said seeing her body strengthen and morph has been therapeutic. Im in awe of shari segal. Reporter this is a crew of women supporting her and others this month as the studio raises money for Breast Cancer research selling socks and holding a special sunday class. Shes just so inspiring. Cathy lanier has ordered the owner to close its doors for 96 hours. 19yearold eric jones was stabbed early thursday morning after a fight outside the club. Jones later died at the hospital. Chief lanier says security guards broke up a fight twice but did not tell police even though two d. C. Officers were there working in an approved overtime shift. In a few hours the show place arena in Upper Marlboro will be packed with potential gun buyers for the first time in years. Prince georges county put a moratorium on gun shows. New laws allow the show to be held again. There are some restrictions including no ammunition. Never, ever, ever had an issue here, ever. And they really surprised me, no ammo. We went, well, okay. Mark daniels is being charged with assaulting holmes and a correctional officer. The incident happened in a hallway as the inmates were being moved. Daniels lunged at holmes and took a few swings. Neither holmes nor the correctional officer was hurt there. Police in los angeles say four people broke into and robbed the home of desean jackson. It happened early wednesday morning. Jackson has been there practicing with the team. There are reports there were about six people in the house at the time and they fought off the intruders until they ran away. Police are still investigating but have reached a dead end. They say they have no leads or suspects. Taking a look this morning at virginia politics. Theyre coming in on the largest los angeles honor flight. This unprecedented flight is made possible by sponsors in the hopes of fulfilling veterans to visit their memorial. 40,000 runners have been hard at Work Training for tomorrows Marine Corps Marathon and 10k. The race means lots of road closures so we take a look here. This is the marathon route. You can have an idea what areas will be impacted. Runners start in arlington. They cross into d. C. , head back to arlington before finishing at the hiroshima memorial. And that marathon is a real test of endurance for 26. 2 miles. You know. Well, yeah. Done it twice and thats enough. I have not. Ill run one mile. Its not easy. And a lot of these runners have been training for months. Megan fitzgerald introduces us to a local couple with a powerful reason to race. Thats right after i got back from the second deployment. The picture says it all. Reporter pictures say so many things. They can capture moments that remind us of our commitment. We just passed our eightyear anniversary in september. Reporter teresa and daves love story started in college, never knowing where their journey would lead. I knew he was going into the military when we met. I didnt know what that meant but i knew me either. Reporter two years later they found out it meant dave was going to war. He and his platoon deployed to afghanistan in 2009. I didnt really know what to think. It was scary. I was home with an 18month baby. Reporter he was in a combat zone while teresa tried to manage things back at home until she found an escape. Teresa joined a Running Group with other women whose spouses were deployed. Running became her distraction. It was something she didnt realize how much she needed until she got the call. My vehicle was the third one back, ran over an 80 pound ied right underneath my seat. Reporter dave suffered from a traumatic brain injury that affects his shortterm memory. He received a purple heart and returned home. We tried to hold on to every moment together. Reporter but dave was deployed again and when he would return teresa could tell things had changed. He has come back a little different every single time. Reporter but teresa says when theres love and theres a commitment, theres always a way back to each other. Over the last several months teresa . Reporter theyve been training for the Marine Corps Marathon. Dave will admit the training hasnt been easy. It was brutal. I did it because, like she said, beak far from family and stuff like that we didnt have opportunities to spend time together but that was one of them. Reporter but if you ask them, theyll both tell you its been worth it. Because on race day, it wont matter who finishes first. Its about their commitment and love for each other. Running with him and finishing it with him will sort of converge the two. It brought us back together. Its brought us closer. Reporter reporting in quantico, megan fitzgerald, news 4. Check it out. The snow has gone off to a wild start out in siberia. Record snowfall in many areas leaving thousands of drivers stuck in traffic for hours. Ill take it. Some might say snow in siberia is common but some weather forecasters believe it could be the most significant snowfall there in ten years. Im guessing if youre in sigh beer yeah you should be used to the cold weather. What happens in siberia has an effect on us. Thats one of the things we look at to predict the coming seasons. The air masses move west to east. Who knows . Weve had two bad winters in a row. Well know better next april. Its going to be a beautiful morning for that walk. And the temperatures are rather chilly, though, as walkers and runners will be assemble at 7 00 this morning and through 8 00 will be in the 40s to near 50. By 11 00, by the time the walk is ending, some high clouds coming through. It will be around 60 degrees. So a great day for that. Ooh, look at our pumpkincolored sunrise. All these zones in the red, thats most of the panhandle of west virginia, much of the Shenandoah Valley, too. We have quite a bit of beautiful color up the higher elevations. There is peak autumn color just to our west. A great day to get out and see that before the wind starts to bring some of those leaves down.
