Well detailing the timing in a couple minutes. Thank you. In decision 2016, Martin Omalley is expected to announce he is running for president. The Omalley Campaign released this video overnight and it shows the former governor tuning up. All right. That is hail to the chief he played on the guitar. He will make his announcement this morning at 10 00 in the morning. And when omalley enters the race he will face off against two others for the democratic nomination. Hillary clinton jumps into the 2016 race first. This is her second bid for the white house. And this week vermont senator Bernie Sanders is running. Sanders is an independent but running as a democrat. The republican field has quite a few more contenders. Right now eight people are definitely running in 2016 with a few more expected to enter the race. Now, in the race former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee carly fiorina, and Ben Carson Marco rubio, rand paul and rick santorum. George pataki are also running. What a list. Thats right. This morning were learning more about why former speaker of the house Dennis Hastert was indicted. The payments stem from his days as an Illinois School teacher. Pete williams reports on the claims of possible Sexual Misconduct with a student. Reporter no sign of Dennis Hastert in plano. In nearby yorkville where he was a teacher and coach, strong support and disbelief. I would prefer to have never known anything went on. Reporter a federal indictment says he agreed to pay more than 3. 5 million to conceal something labeled past misconduct. They dont say what the past misconduct was or who the person is referred to in Court Documents as individual a. But the indictment suggests it happened while he was a teacher at yorkville high school. Law enforcement officials tell nbc news the payments were to a man and that the misconduct was of a sexual nature while the man was a student. The Yorkville School district in a written statement says it has no knowledge of his alleged misconduct nor has any individual contacted the district to report such misconduct. Hastert was also a wrestling and football coach in yorkville. And today former coaches his worked with and students he coached were coming to his defense. Gary was his first state champion wrestler. The gentleman was a super professional as a teacher, as a coach, as a human being. I would refer to him as my second father. Reporter Anthony Houle was his assistant coach. There wasnt anything that happened during when i worked with denny that would make me believe there was anything improper. Reporter prosecutors say hastert had withdrawn 1. 7 million from his Bank Accounts to make the payments. But cut back on the size of the withdrawals to evade federal transaction rules. Its surprising i think that would be a universal response. And look what remains to be seen what comes forth now, but its very sad for him and sad really for the congress. Pete williams reporting there. Hastert lawyers have not commented on the charges. The Sexual Conduct claims cannot be prosecuted because of the statute of limitations. We know the name of a man for robbing an elderly couple. Milton hood of northwest d. C. Was arrested yesterday afternoon. Police say around 11 00 a. M. He tried to rob a couple right in front of the turkish embassy. This is in northwest. The suspect approached the couple demanded money, and then started fighting with the 81yearold man. The wife then started beating hood with her cane. Those marks helped Police Identify hood when they arrested him a few hours later. A family in Prince Georges County making final preparations this weekend for the funeral of a 7yearold boy. Alejandro santos was killed last saturday. A motorcycle was making a left turn into the mall in hyattsville when it crashed and threw the bike to the ground. The bike flew into the 7yearold and his family. The district is getting ready to chip in 35,000 to find out if building the gondola is a good idea. The gondolas would connect georgetown and roslin. The money was approved this week as part of a 13 billion spending plan. The georgetown Business Improvement district has raised money for a feasibility study. And we are now learning that the arlington Memorial Bridge will have lane closures for months. The National Park service has implemented major restrictions. How is this going to affect your commute . Mark segraves looked into that. Engineers were doing routine inspections and found some increased corrosion. Corrosion that has happened quicker than they expected. They caused us to put in the load restriction. Reporter those restrictions include the closure of one lane in each direction of the bridge and no more trucks or buses. The bridge is safe for 99 of the users. If youre in a car, in an suv, the bridge is perfectly safe. The people it affects the most are the buses. Reporter the Memorial Bridge is just one of thousands of bridges across the country caught up in a battle between local lawmakers and congress over funding. Bridges like the 14th street and south capitol street bridges that will see more traffic because of the restrictions on the memorial are among the bridges in our area that are also in dire need of repair. With an indefinite ban on trucks and buses crossing the bridge traffic experts like our partners at wtop radio know this is going to have a big impact on your commute.
