The state department will review thousands of emails for public release, but the controversy is far from over. Tracie potts live now on capitol hill with the latest on this. Reporter good morning. Lets be clear about this the state department has said it is not or was not against the law to use a personal email can for official government business. But what is may be how the emails are stored. If they are sensitive, top secret information, they have to be stored on a particular type of secure server. These emails were stored on a server at Hillary Clintons home we now know. And they didnt note level of security there. They also all have to be archived at the state department. Hers werent turned over until requested. So thats part of what the republicans are asking the Inspector General to take a look at and were hearing there critics like john mccain who say while Hillary Clinton criticized the Bush Administration about their communications she was storing her own at home. Now, we have not seen her on camera yet beyond that one tweet responding to this. Some democrats are saying if she had had a Campaign Team in place, she may have responded faster. At this point the state department is going through the 55,000 pages of emails to turnover to lawmakers, but they say it could take months. And im curious, what did the Obama Administration know about this while Hillary Clinton was in office . Reporter its a good question. Apparently at the beginning they were not aware that she was using the personal email account. And while the white house was urging people to use their official email accounts they were trying to get a handle on keeping this documentation and keeping everything under the guise of the go.
