News 4s molette green is live outside fairfax. Reporter just within the last 30 minutes we learned the name of the 18yearold young woman who died last night. Fairfax county Police Identify her as erika dunn of springfield. She was struck by a train last night just past 9 30 in the 9500 block of berk road in berk. She was with two friends when she was struck. Their investigation determined that there were Three Friends walking near the tracks, a train approached. Two of the friends moved away from the tracks. When they went back to find their other friend they found her injured. Reporter now, police say the two other friends stayed with the victims side to provide some aid and also called police but erika dunn later died at the hospital. Now, this isnt uncommon for folks to try to walk along the tracks. Our iteam in fact found about 29 train accidents involving trespassers over the last two years in virginia. Now, this investigation is ongoing. The medical examiner still has to declare a cause and manner of death here. No details yet on the type of train involved in this accident. The operator of that train still has to be interviewed. The victims next of kin though has been notified. That is the latest from live outside Fairfax County police headquarters. Molette green, news 4. A lot of big news coming out right now about that deadly Train Derailment in philadelphia last year. We know eight people died when that amtrak train hit a curve at more than 100 miles an hour, twice the speed limit through there. This morning the ntsb said during a hearing the engineer was listening to a radio call about another train. Now, this train was coming from d. C. And hit that curve in philadelphia, it was last may 12th. According to the ntsb four of the people who died were actually ejected from the train. Now, those train windows are designed to be opened in emergency, but in this case they came right off, apparently. The agency also talking a lot about positive train control, thats the technology that automatically slows trains down when necessary. If there had been automatic train control there, its possible that this crash would never have happened. Investigators say amtrak did a Risk Assessment that found it was unlikely the train would go over 100 miles an hour. Thats the latest from the live desk, aaron gilcrest. Aaron, thank you. First a mans body was found on texas avenue in southeast yesterday. Then a woman was shot nearby on 49th street. D. C. Police believe both of those shootings are connected. The victims have not been identified. Three other people are expected to survive from separate shootings. We always need help from the community to solve these crimes immediately to bring people to justice. Theyre scared. We get that. But scared sometimes can help us get the people that are creating the fear and thats what we need, we need people willing to come forward and work with us. Chief lanier says Police Patrols have been stepped up in southeast and the department has a plan in place for this summer ncht. Meanwhile, search is underway for a gunman in Fairfax County. He tried to rob a man and shot him in the arm around 2 00 this all happened near braeleigh lane. Police dont have any information on the suspect. The man who was shot is expected to survive. Right now we are following two high profile trials happening in northern virginia. The trial against castillo begins this morning in loudon county. Prosecutors say he killed his wife and tried to make it look like a suicide. They say the couple was in the middle of a bitter divorce. The wife was found hanging in the basement bathroom in her home in 2014. The trial is expected to last a mon month. And in fairfax jury selection continues in the trial against andrew schmul, he and his wife are accused of brutally attacks his wifes boss and f. M his lawyers will argue that his mental state during the attack was the result of medication that he was she is being tried separately. In less than two hours now the d. C. Council plans to push through a 13 billion budget. Its the same one they hope to pass without getting formal approval from congress. City leaders say they should be able to spend local taxpayer dollars without the oversight of the federal government. Reporter violent weather in the plain states just 20 miles from here in Oklahoma City winds were clocked at 69 miles an hour. But the real focus has been on tornadoes. Here are two suspected tornadoes that touched down in the panhandle of oklahoma. Assessments and damage appear to be that it was minor, no injuries reported. Then as you move south in addition to the rain they got in oklahoma its been really bad down in texas, specifically in and around Corpus Christi where they got 12 inches of rain in 24 hours. The flood waters are now receding and residents are having to put up with all that nasty damage that results the floods. Finally, hailstones falling throughout the area, and of course the damage so far has been astronomical. The Insurance Industry estimates that this year, which has been a very busy hail season, theyve paid out more than 1 billion in damages from hail damage to cars and roofs. Then dry for most of the evening. Then as we get into the latter part of the evening well still be dry but does look like another area of some rain starts moving in to virginia by midnight. Now Security Experts are issuing a warning saying that those wifi portals can open up your entire house including your computer to a hacker. Nbcs tom costello saw firsthand how hackers can crack the reporter its a wired and Wireless World out there with more of our homes now connected to the iot, the internet of things, from the refrigerator and ovens to tv, thermostat, baby monitor, doorbell and alarm system. The reality is that many of these new products have a very poor standard of security compared to that which we would expect from our traditional computers. Reporter james is the global head of Security Research at sophos security. And you heard right, your connected fridge, tv or doorbell could be just the target a hacker is looking for. Well, the big challenge with these devices is that most of them are connected to the same Wireless Network where your computer resides. Reporter why would anybody want to hack my doorbell, my refrigerator or my thermostat . Its more that they could use those devices as a means to access more interesting sources information. Reporter including bank account information, tax documents, emails, everything could be vulnerable. Theo wifi routers that come with default passwords that are easy to hack. And homeowners often dont bother changing them. Youll see password, no password, one, two, three, four, default. Reporter to prove how easily routers can be hacked, james had me drive to a colleagues home outside of boston. By the time i got to the doorbell hed already hacked in. Then watched my every move on the inhome security cameras hed broken into. So you say youve hacked this house. Prove it to me. If you just turn to your left a little bit, give the camera a wave. Reporter youve hacked this camera because the default password was weak. Thats exactly it. And weve been able to use the fact that it automatically connects to the internet to get to it from the outside. I notice youve got a nice security alarm there. Reporter youve hacked the alarm system. More concerning, once he was into the wifi, james targeted the computer, tracking all of my movements on the laptop from Online Shopping to emails and and the password denverbroncoswin2016. Reporter so youre seeing everything i type in on my password . We can see anything you type anywhere on your computer. Reporter the open back door, that wireless router with the weak password. The moral of the story is to make sure your password is not easily hackable. Make sure you update your devices, keep them with the latest software version. There are many different types from the fillings to the shape and how theyre cooked. Our chef from bangkok in georgetown joins us this morning with some of her favorites. Thanks so much for joining us. Thank you for having me. And tell us a little about dumplings. Theyre so much fun to eat, but there are a lot of meaning behind the food as well. What about in the thai culture . The thai culture this is more of a comfort food for friends and family. Wonderful. To enjoy and have family come together and help. You know, just fun Family Activity and i think its inviting families together. m with my families. We have dumplings bar. This is somewhat a sample we have. We have steam eed shrimp dumplis and we also have the gluten free the first gluten free dumplings ever i think. And this is spinach and cheese, and we also have fagra. Very rich. So some different flavors, not traditionally asian. Yes. How are they cooked . Today youre going to make a bow bun. Where does it start . It starts with the wheat flour, about three cups. Then i have some warm water with sugar in here. Little sure gag to sweeten the flour. Right. And we can add some yeast, like a tablespoon of yeast. And we want to stir the dough up a little bit. We add some oil. Okay. And then we want to with some milk. Okay. I didnt know milk thats the difference. Right. Make it creamy and soft. Yes. You want to slowly add it and stir it around until the dough comes together and knead it for 15 minutes. Hand knead it for 15 minutes and then we wrap it up. And then we also like let it sit. And then the dough will come rising. And youre showing us the dough you already have. Can you show it to us so we can start making one . Sure. Great. This is the dough already been done. And we want to grab some. Its very soft. Yeah. It will rise on its own after a while after you let it sit for a while. And how much do you need to make your little bow . You just need about let me show you how big with this one. Okay. Just need a little bit of the dough. And you want to knead it up a little more. So make into a lock. What are the fillings . Atd the restaurant we do two, one is chicken and one is pork. Oh, yum. And we cut it like this and kind of soft ly and roll it up very nicely. Okay. And we can add some flour a little bit. And then you fill it up. Yeah. Can you show us how to wrap it . Yes, we want to roll it out a little bit more. Okay. So you flatten out a little bit. Yes. And then you add filling in the center, about a tablespoon. Okay. You want it to puff out. Right. And then wrap it up in the top. And you want to wrap it up. You pinch it. You pinch it all the way around. When its done push the filling down. Twist it. This is fun family oh, look, this is the steamer. Yes. You can just put some parchment paper and then have it steam in the basket. Beautiful. In a steam basket. And you of course with the power of tada, ones already made for us so we can look at the whole finished product. Yes. I want to show you. We want to show everyone how beautiful that is. This is steamed pork barbecue buns. You know what of course. I want a little hot. Oh, might be too hot for me to taste right now, but it is gorgeous and i love you showed us how to make it. Then some more showers move in after midnight, maybe a few showers in the morning through midday on wednesday. Otherwise cloudy, cool and damp in the morning. Then maybe a little sun breaking out before sunset tomorrow with highs maybe reaching low 60s. Thursday and friday mild weather returns and sunshine just enough time to get some yard work done because more rain moves in on saturday. Smaller chance on sunday. Then a little sun back on monday.
