Arson investigators are looking into a suspicious fire that was just blocks away from the naval abservetory. Four bodies were found inside the home on Woodland Drive yesterday and we now know at least one of those victims suffered Blunt Force Trauma to the head. News 4s Megan Mcgrath is live in the neighborhood with new information on what may have started the fire. Megan . Reporter well barbara, we have a whole host of investigators here. You can see them behind me here from the atf as well as the police department. Theyve been going in and out of the house for about two hours now. Police chief kathy linear called this very suspicious and we are now learning why. An atf van, Police Cruisers and evidence collection experts all at the home on Woodland Drive. An unusual sight in one of the districts most exclusive neighborhoods. But this is an unusual crime scene and disturbing new information points to the possibility of murder and arson. News 4 has learned that at least one of the victims found in the fire showed signs of Blunt Force Trauma. There are also signs that the fire may have been intentionally set. An internal d. C. Fire department chronology of the incident shows one of the victims who was transported to the hospital was bleeding from the head and smelled of gasoline. The Fire Department was called to the home around 1 30 in the afternoon on thursday. When rescuers went inside they discovered four bodies. Neighbors say a couple with three children live in the home. Nearby st. Albins school sent out a note saying one of the victims of the tragedy was a student and they would have grief counselors on hand. And police are looking for information about the driver of a blue porsche 911, d. C. Tag dk 2418. That porsche was seen here near the house at 10 30 on thursday. It left and was found unattended elsewhere. Police want to know who was driving that sports car. As for the four victims, their identities have not been released. Back to you in the studio. It will start on june 8. News 4s david culver and says the defense told the judge her clients Constitutional Rights were obliterate bid the denial of a continue wednesday. The defense says it needs the extra time to go over all of the evidence from the prosecution. Matthew also faces capital murder charges in the death to of uva student hannah graham. New this morning from investigators working on the deadly Train Derailment in philadelphia our first look at the event data recorder on the train when it derailed. They want to know what caused it had train to rapidly accelerate for a full minute, up to 106 Miles Per Hour before it shot off the trank. In the frankford junction of philadelphia the wrecked cars have been moved to a rail yard for examination. Workers continue repairing the tracks hoping to reopen the corridor by tuesday, a week after the crash. Eight people died when amtrak 188 careened off the track. Investigators say the train accelerated for a full minute before the derailment hitting 80 Miles Per Hour 43 seconds before the crash, 9031 seconds before the crash and 100, 16 seconds before the crash. I dont think that any common sense rational person would think it was okay to travel at that level of speed. Reporter for investigators its more complicated. Was there a mechanical problem with the train . Did the engineer Brandon Bostian realize he was speeding . Was he distracted . His attorney insists bostians phone was off and stowed in his bag. He says bostian suffered a concussion in the crash and doesnt remember the incident. And off duty amtrak employee has filed the first lawsuit stemming from the grass thatcrash. Six marines and two nepalese soldiers are thought to be dead in a u. S. Military Helicopter Crash. The helicopter was found earlier this morning. It had been missing since tuesday. Nbcs Kelly Cobiella has more. Reporter the u. S. Military confirms the wreckage site has been found and there are likely no survivors. U. S. Military officials said earlier this week that the huey crew wassor heard orverheard talking about a possible fuel problem before the chopper disappeared. The Task Force Commander in nepal for the United States military said they could not confirm the cause of the crash as yesterday but vowed the cause would be determined eventually. A nepalese search team found the crash site in dense forest on a Steep Mountain slope at an elevation of 11,000 feet. It was a very severe crash and based on what we saw in the condition of the aircraft we believe that there were no survivors but we have not been able to confirm that. As i said, we have not positive positivitypositive positively identified remains at this time. A u. S. Paramilitary rescue team was on site but the conditions are so difficult that the recovery effort is on hold until first light tomorrow. A team of six marines and two nepalese soldiers were on board, they were delivering aid in the area when the chopper went down tuesday. Today the Task Force Commander in the country paid tribute to them calling them courageous and selfless asking for prayers of support for their families and for privacy. Back to you. Meanwhile, government leaders in nepal are being forced to work in tents after the two massive earthquakes that hit that country. The latest earthquake happened on tuesday. It severely damaged a key building that houses the Prime Ministers office in the heart of kathmandu. A spokesperson for the Prime Ministers office says they are trying to find alternate space. Some stores reopened today and traffic started flowing again on the streets of kathmandu. Just minutes ago, the house passed a nearly 612 billion defense bill despite a veto threat from president obama. Democrats fought the bill saying it steps up big programs law. Makers were supposed to stick to spending caps put in place in 2012 but this bill gets around those limits by putting 89 billion into an emergency warfighting fund that is exempt from the cap.
