That is to the iraqi refugees, mostly christians that are on top of a mountain. They are surrounded by these isis militants. This extreme islamic group. Its not clear when these refugees would be able to come down from the mountain or what is going to happen from here but we do know that fighter jets are escorting those aircraft making the drops out to that mountain region. Well be watching this all from the live desk. Back to you. Those bombs fell less than 12 hours after the president warned the u. S. Would not hesitate to bomb iraq. And the latest track continues it staying well south of the rest of the islands and heading farther out to sea. By 2 00 a. M. Saturday it will be just 35mileanhour winds. 2 00 sunday it will be 25mileanhour winds so its weakening quite a bit. Julio has winds of 105 but it is weakening now. It was a category 3 hurricane earlier and is now down to a 2. Both sides agreed to the terms of a vote audit. The audit was started after concerns about the legitimacy of the election results. The results of this election will ultimately determine who succeeds current President Hamid karzai. Back to that breaking news out of iraq now. The u. S. Military conducted a targeted air strike against islamic militants in iraq. For more on the air strikes, we are joined by carrie dan from nbcs Political Team. Good morning. Good morning. And we say and cant say enough that this was not an attack against the country of iraq, this is against those militants, is that right . Right. This is a group called isis. A group of islamic militants. They have been advancing all summer throughout the country of iraq. Now, what this air strike is in response to is that these forces were pressuring Kurdish Military forces in northern iraq. Those are both the kurds are a great ally of the Obama Administration and they are also known as very fierce fighters, so it set off alarm bells at the pentagon when isis was able to overtake some of the kurdic military positions. And the president warned yesterday. Why now . Well, what happened was over the weekend and the last couple of days the isis forces, which washington thought that these Kurdish Forces would be able to hold back those attacks, that proved wrong. Isis has been able to advance. And there are some u. S. Military interests in the city of erbil, which is in that kurdish region. The pentagon got concerned if these isis forces continue rolling forward, thats what set off the alarm bells that prompted these strikes. The president has said hes very much against a fullscale military action in iraq. Lets take a listen. As commander in chief i will not allow the United States to be dragged into fighting another war in iraq. How does the Iraqi Government feel about whats happened . Well, we have heard from Kurdish Forces saying thank you to the United States for intervening for their support. They have been asking for u. S. Support and humanitarian aid. Now, dont forget theres also a humanitarian situation going on in that region. There are ethnic and religious minorities that have been driven into the northern iraqi mountainous region by these isis forces and theres starvation. Theyre unable to get food. That was another part of what the president announced yesterday was humanitarian drops in that region as well. Now, how do our european allies feel about what weve done . So far weve seen a lot at least within the United States weve seen support from across the partisan spectrum. Weve seen democrats and republicans saying something needs to be done. But there is concern globally and especially among lawmakers in the United States. Okay, this is what were doing in the short term. Whats the longterm strategy. Obviously the iraq war had slipped in popularity. In june 71 of americans said the iraq war was not a good idea so obviously the country does not want to be drawn into a prolonged conflict. A lot of people are asking the question what comes next. How can we prevent this sliding into a larger scale conflict. Well be watching for that over the next days, im sure. Thanks so much, carrie. Soul cycle is a highend spinning studio with an almost cultlike following. The Indoor Cycling experience includes a candle lit studio, upper body and core movements and tons of dance music. Gabby and abigail join us this morning with more on what this exercise craze is all about. Welcome. Thank you so much, good morning. A beautiful yellow bike. Yes. Gabby, you tell us that people really like this and its not like the spinning they have known before. Its true. I actually hated spinning. So did i. So we have something in common. This is a full body workout on the bike. We ride to the beat of the music. We use arm weights, we do upper body movements and pushups on the bike so its so much more than just spinning and a lower body workout. And what about people who havent liked spinning because they felt like they couldnt keep up. People that have been doing it so long that you feel lioh, gosh, i couldnt do that. We ride in candlelight. You do the very best you can. You just compete against yourself. You raise your own bar every time you go but take it at your own pace. By candle light, is that to just set a certain mood . The truth is its all about setting your intention for the ride and also having no one is looking at you. Its really zen. It takes the elements of being at a dance party and dancing in the park and also the elements of yoga and bringing it together. How long have you been doing this . I was a rider for a year and then made the transition as an instructor. This is the first soul cycle here. Where did it start . Thats correct. It started in new york city. This is actually our 30th location. Were so thrilled that we opened yesterday here in d. C. Who do you expect the studio to attract, men, women, who . The truth is everyone. Our youngest rider is 11, our oldest rider is 78. We have men, women, children, grandparents ride with granddaughters. Its really a great mix. Why dont you show us what a beginner would be doing. I suppose Something Like this . Yep. You can be seated in the saddle. Abby can walk us through some of the key moves. Anyone can do this. Whats the next level up . Reach down, add a little resistance, slide your hands out towards the end and come up out of the saddle. And you dont look at whos next to you and who might be going a whole lot faster than you. Right. And whats the highest level . What would youe doing, pretty much the same as now . Were going to show a push hundred. You would drop your chest on the of the music, so its just like that. It does look like fun. It is fun. And imagine doing it with a group of 50 people around you. And not looking at them because your in candlelight. Correct. Are there different level classes, though . Some people coming in as beginners or enter meade yats . Our classes are all at one level. The instructors can give you modifications based on your level. If youre a more seasoned rider, you can do something a little more complicated but they give you levels if youre a beginner as well. How often do you suggest people take a class like this . Most of our riders come between three and five times a week. To see noticeable differences in your body, we say at a minimum two times a week. And how expense if is it . Classes in d. C. Are 30. Its as cheap as personal training or the cost of two drinks. There are other plans for this area so youll find a soul cycle near you. Were oning in bethesda at the end of the year and currently on m street. Thanks for coming. Im going to see if you can help me tighten these arms. Ive been talking about that for days. Thank you so much. Our time is 11 49. Coming up, what you need to know before renting a vacation house.
