His 3yearold daughter also died and based on the medical examiners initial report, it looks as if miller stabbed the little girl and shot her in the chest. Hes also accused of shooting the girls grandfather and greatgrandmother. Theyre both in Critical Condition. Darcy spencer is live where that shooting happened. Dallas starsy, there seem to be a lot of questions tonight about that familys safety leading up to these crimes. Reporter yes, thats right, chris. You know, it was no people here in the neighborhood knew. It was no secret that there were problems involving this suspect and the family here. You know, we learned his identity today, we learned that he harmed his own daughter. Again, this family trying to protect themselves. Take a look at the house where two family members were shot yesterday. You can see the security camera. You can see over here floodlights were placed on the front of the house. They did take these Safety Measures but it just didnt work. Prince georges county police say a suspect who died in the shootout with police after abducting his 3yearold daughter had shot and stabbed the little girl. Police identified that man as 38yearold frederick miller. He lived in landover and had a history of domestic problems including a custody battle with the childs mother. Police say miller shot and wounded the little girls greatgrandmother and grandfather. That happened at their home on farmer place in ft. Washington saturday afternoon. Then he took off with his daughter. Police chased him here to branch avenue in temple hills a few miles away. Thats where there were two exchanges of gunfire with police. Six officers fired their weapons. But an autopsy revealed that the 3yearold suffered wounds at the hands of her own father. An exact cause of death still has not been released. Oh, i was absolutely shocked. I was shocked. I was mortified. Reporter back at the home on farmer place, news4 has learned that miller had virtually terrorized the family here and neighbors knew about it. He used to come over and vandalize the mother of his childs vehicle an sometimes would vandalize the house as well. Reporter the family took measures to protect themselves and the little girl. They installed these surveillance cameras around the house and motionactivated floodlights. But it was not enough to stop this family tragedy. Its an eerie feeling about, you know, this morning waking up, just knowing what happened and seeing everything on the news. It was , yeah, very disturbing o say the least. Reporter we also learned from police that the mother of this little girl was not here yesterday when this happened. She was found unharmed. We did a quick search of Online Court Records and what we found out is that this suspect had twice been charged with violating a protective order. It was near a dumpster but not in it. The apartment complex where this happened is on nicol lane a block away from baldwin elementary and osbourne high school. Police havent identified who the man is, but this is manassass first homicide this year. Dont shoot dont shoot youre violating the state chaos came back to ferguson, missouri, last night and the standoff took a more menacing tone. Ten minutes into a curfew, Police Used Tear Gas and smoke canisters to break up a crowd. The officers came armed with militarystyle weapons following reports that someone had been shot and people in the crowd were armed. The Justice Department will now go to an independent autopsy on Michael Brown. Attorney general eric holder ordered a second autopsy today.
