First Lady Michelle obama and her daughters greeted the crews as they delivered the White House Christmas tree. Its a douglass fir from pennsylvania. Mrs. Obama said it will be decorated with pictures of military homecomings. No word on the cause of a power outage that has hundreds of people in the dark. More than 500 pepco customers without power. Most are concentrated in d. C. S southeast and southwest quadrants. Pepco isnt sure what caused the outages, but power should be restored by 7 00. Crews are working to repair a water main that broke. The 12inch main burst in rockville. It created a mess in the road. We are told more than 40 customers have been without Water Service for several hours now including the Animal Shelter. They are hoping to have the water tuned back on shortly. As we cover Prince Georges County, traffic is back to normal where a water main break caused a sinkhole that swallowed an suv. Some 200 people in that area were without power until 4 00 yesterday afternoon. The crews were back repairing the pipe and filling in that sinkhole. Temperatures will drop below freezing again tonight. That may have something to do with the water main break. Lets bring in Veronica Johnson and get the scoop. Veronica . For sure, absolutely, i think that has had a big effect on the water main breaks around the area. Our temperatures have been down. They have been up. They have been down and now back up on this friday. Meanwhile, as we look ahead, we have a temperature climb to talk about. First, tonight, it is another cold one for us. Temperatures in the 30s. Low and mid30s from Montgomery County through loudoun county, Prince William and fauquier county. We are starting out in the 20s in most neighborhoods. Again, the temperature climb expected not just for the weekend but for next week. I have a nice forecast coming up. As we await the official cause of death for a father and d. C. National guardsman, family members say they think it was a tragic accident. He was 29 years old when his body was found floating in baltimore on wednesday. Tonight, we are hearing from his grieving family members for the first time. Erika gonzalez is at the live desk with the react thats just come in. The interview we just got from wbal in baltimore is nothing short of heart breaking. He didnt know it, but the d. C. National guard just selected him as airman of the year. Tonight, his parents told us, they are glad he got that recognition. There has been a tremendous outpouring of support for them and the 4yearold daughter he leaves behind. They think he died accidentally after leaving a bar with friends on friday night, then walking by himself toward his car. Last 24 hours we have gone through an incredible amount of pain. Its been an absolute nightmare. So, our faith is going to keep us together. We are waiting for the official autopsy report. Investigators said there are no signs of foul play. Erika gonzalez, news 4. The Holiday Shopping season is here and millions rush to take part in the black friday bargains. The shopping erupted into violence today. In southwest virginia, one person was stabbed in a walmart parking lot. A Police Officer was injured trying to break up a fight in california. The shopper was shot in the leg over a tv in las vegas. A suspected shoplifter was shot by police in a chicago suburb and a washington mart store was evacuated after a bomb threat. Investors are closely watching whats happening in the stores to get a read on the health of retailers as well as the wider economy. Stocks rose for most of the day today. Tonight, a man is charged in one of two deadly shootings that shook up a single apartment complex in the span of four days in the district. Police arrested a 22yearold in the murder of a 21yearold. She was shot a week ago inside a complex on g Street Southeast near benning road. Theres no word on a motive. A Police Officer who was investigating the murder shot and killed another man who police say was armed at the building on monday. A Prince Georges County woman escaped an attempted Sexual Assault early this morning. It happened just before 2 00 a. M. On possum court. That woman says she was taking out her trash when a man hit her and knocked her to the ground. She was able to fight him off and run. Police searched the neighborhood with the dog and helicopter. They are still looking for the attacker tonight. Nine protesters were arrested today outside an alexandria Walmart Store including one employee. Its an effort organized by labor groups to convince the store to increase the salary of workers. Walmart defended the labor practices. Reporter from a corporate perspective, things are looking up for walmart and the ceo says us r its because of the workers. We went from the largest food store in the morning to the largest general merchant in the evening. It is phenomenal what they do. Reporter on this black friday, what they were doing was getting arrested in protests around the country. The beef, higher wages. They are saying we want at least 25,000 a year. We want them to see the father or the mother, uncle that might be taking care of their grandmother. Those are the people that are struggling, regardless of what the specific number is. What we know is its not enough. We have one of the largest percentages of full time retail force. I get paid low wages. 12,000 last year. Reporter they are getting a lot of attention. They waived adoption fees for anybody who came in to adopt an animal with black fur. Pets with dark coats take longer to be adopted. Who knew. We have plenty of animals available. We have rabbits, guinea pigs, hamste hamsters, almost any pet in a pet store is here. The promotion ended at 5 00. You can still take advantage of the home for the Holidays Campaign that gets you 50 off the adoption fees if you take home an animal of any fur color by the end of the year. An agreement on the farm bill seems less and less likely. That could impact your options for fresh fruits and vegetables. They spend millions funding food hubs to help small local farmers. That funding is on hold. Operations like the green grocer in capitol heights. Part of that program, they take produce from Small Farmers and deliver it to customers. The agricultural secretary says its not feasible to grow them, market them and get them to the consumer. Both the house and the Senate Farm Bills increase the support for food hubs. Earlier this month, House Speaker john boehner ruled out a vote on it this year. Big changes coming for d. C. Food trucks. Monday, that could impact where you find your lunch spot. Its not the only rule taking effect. Mark segraves explains. Reporter beginning monday, the district will reserve spaces for 95 food trucks in eight downtown locations including 17th street, 7 street and 12th street by metro center. The food trucks will get the same space for 30 days. Each month, a lottery determines which truck gets which space. Food trucks without reserved spaces will be able to operate as long as they park legally. Another change is here along h street northeast where the streetcars are going in. Starting monday, if you park outside the white line like that delivery truck, you get a 100 fine. Its cause for concern for shop owners. The trucks are big. They extend, some of them, beyond the white line. Its ongoing debate on how to handle the trucks. Reporter businesses on h street depend on delivery trucks. For now coming up with different scenarios. Reporter the plan is to park on side streets or alleys. Its a bit of an inconvenience, but at the end of the day, the streetcar is what we want. Issued 145 other traffic citations. The effort to crack down on drunkdriving continues through january 4th. The comet ison may not be done yet.
