Reporter im Jackie Benson with so many inauguration visitors in town, there is concern about a homicide here in a well travelled section of georgia avenue. Ill have that story coming up. And well introduce you to two very special Service Members getting ready to sad day for baseball fans, especially in baltimore. Earl weaver died last night. Jason pugh is here now with more on quite a character. Yeah, this was a great man. Not only on the field but also off the field. One of the legends of the sport. When you talk about the name earl weaver, everyone around the baseball world knew you were talking about one of the best managers in the big leagues. Today the hall of famer passed away at the age of 82. Weaver was known throughout baltimore as the duke of earl. He was also a baseball legend, assuming 1,480 wins throughout his career. He was a three time manager of the year. He managed the orioles for 17 years. He took the organization to the world series four times, winning the fall classic in 1970. He was inducted to the Baseball Hall of fame in 1996 and was known throughout the sport as an innovator. Weaver was also known for his temper and famous arguments with umpires. He once was ejected in both games of a doubleheader. He passed away while on a cruise sponsored by the orioles. His cause of death is yet to be determined. A great, great man. Baseball sorely going to miss him. Truly a legend. Thank you, jason. Other news now, an investigation tonight into a deadly shooting near Howard University. Police are trying to figure out what led to the confrontation. News 4s Jackie Benson live in northwest tonight to explain what happened. Jackie . Reporter good evening. This is one of the areas of the city that is receiving extra Police Patrols because of inauguration weekend. But this homicide is not believed to be connected to any inauguration weekend celebration or event. Police were called about 2 30 this morning after someone called 911 to report hearing gun shots. The location is directly across the street from Howard University dormitory and Students Walk up and down the block at all hours. The victim, 44yearold Tracy Mcfadden was shot several times and collapsed on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital a short time later. Homicide detectives and officials from the citys alcoholic beverage Regulation Agency question employees at chuck and billies. They found no evidence that the shooting was connected to any type of disagreement there and an employee tells news 4 he does not remember seeing the victim in the establishment that evening. And, again, short time ago i talked to a witness, someone who was present out here that night. They say that they do not believe that this man was inside any bar or restaurant along here. Military will help the first family dance their way into their second term of the white house. A Staff Sergeant from the u. S. Air force will have the honor of dancing with the commander in chief and a Gunnery Sergeant from the u. S. Marines will dance with First Lady Michelle Obama. Both say theyre very excited but also a little nervous. Im excited but im nervous as well. Ill be in front of millions of people dancing. Ill do my best. I was kind of surprised when i first put my name in the hat, i really didnt expect to be selected. So when they said it was going to be me, i was quite surprised.
