Suns accused of negotiating bribe payments between elected officials, at least one lobbyist and Liquor Store Business owners. Most of the investigation centered around the passing to have liquor sold on sundays. Sun is accused of paying officials to ensure the bill passed and accepting payments from the owners to make sure they got one of the licenses. Sun wore a wire for 11 months, providing hundreds of recordings. According to the affidavit, in one recorded conversation, sun says we got you three. The fbi says that means 3,000. He then instructs the elected official to go to the mens bathroom saying, hes going to hook you up. Thats where the official meets the owner of Central Avenue liquors seen here. Her whole life ahead of her until she was found stabbed in this building last night. So here is what we know. Police got a call for an unconscious person in the building. They came and they found her in a hallway. She had been stabbed several times. She was taken to the hospital. Attempts to save her life did not work and she died. We knowthat the young woman did not live in this building. She lived nearby with her brother and very close to her sister. She was in this country with her family, we believe, from togo in west africa. We found out today that her father was once a driver for the ambassador and that the woman who was killed used to live at the embassy. This was some years ago. People over there today, we stopped by. Big brand new Transit Center for buses, brand new sales office, but no smart trip card to use to pay for the buses. It should not open until youre ready to serve the public. Reporter Clarence Meyers is really upset. He just wants a smart trip card to use to pay for his bus which now comes through the Transit Center, but there arent any smart trip cards at the sales office. They dont have a card, so public transparenortation is th thing. Reporter the Transit Center opened on december 22nd. He was told to try a nearby cvs convenience he then called us. Thats why i asked channel 4 to come and do the story because this is unacceptable for commuters. Reporter now, you can still use cash to ride the bus. If you bring an existing smart trip card to the sales office, they can put more value on it. But you just cant get a smart trip card here yet. We contacted the maryland transit administration, which runs this center. They said theyre aware of the issue. I thought i would be able to buy a card and commute. I couldnt do that. Plus, why was there a delay in the first place for having those cards here . Metro riders have become almost numb these days to delays and breakdowns. The Transit Agency says rail cars themselves are a big problem. During a Board Meeting this thursday, metro will report that rail car breakdowns. Statistics show that about four times a day everybody has to be taken off a train somewhere to wait for another one because of issues. Metros currently retiring the oldest rail cars in its fleet, known as the 1,000 series rail cars. Metro tells us all trains are running again after the latest report of smoke inside a tunnel. A Virginia State delegate from our region has introduced a new bill now that would require a proof of citizenship to register to vote. Republican mark cole is requiring proof of citizenship for anyone registering to vote after january 1st of next year. The rule would apply for federal, state and local elections. It would not apply to anyone already registered to vote in the commonwealth. Similar measures have failed in previous years. The upcoming inauguration may close some city businesses for the day. We started to notice that where the carpeting comes up into our basement steps, it was separating. Reporter he truly didnt think it was a big deal and simply wanted the flooring company, Flooring America, to come out and fix it. Turns out, it wasnt that simple. We began contacting or attempting to contact the white plains store, didnt have any luck. Left some messages. Then after a while there was not even a voice mail. Reporter we learned that particular franchise closed so tom contacted another Flooring America in the area. They asked for pictures. He sent them off and waited. Waited. We would call and leave messages and so on. Wed get a text or something that said we havent forgot about you. Reporter but did they . It seems like it. N more than 200 turtles watched up near corpus christi, texas, over the weekend. The cold weather actually paralyzes the turtles, causing them to float to the surface and then wash ashore. The storms toppled tree trees, blocked roads, trapped some people in their homes. Mudslides made roads impassable. More than 1300 homes were evacuated in nevada as more flooding is expected today. Even one of californias giant sequoia trees was no match for the weather. The famous Pioneer Cabin tree rains. The trunks so wide, people in cars could actually go through it.
