Over the next 24 hours the search would lead police from d. C. To brooklyn new york, and then back to the d. C. Area. Last night, the Capitol Area Fugitive Task force tracked wint to this hotel in college park. As the task force was preparing to move in wint and several women got into this white car. Police followed the car into the district, using as many as 20 Law Enforcement cars as well as a helicopter. Then police moved in on the white car and the box truck it was following. Wint surrendered without any resistance. Sources say he was not carrying a gun. A large amount of cash was found inside that truck. The door was open to the box truck, and i saw a wad of cash in the side compartment of the door. Reporter wint is charged with first degree murder. He made his first court aappearance this afternoon. Mr. Wint is now incarcerated and held without bond, but our work is not done. We will continue to investigate this case and bring all charges that are appropriate in the coming weeks. Neighbors have been reacting to wipts arrest. News4s Megan Fitzgerald is outside the home in northwest with more on that. Reporter chris, i tell you, as we learn more and more about what happened inside this house behind me here, neighbors say its increasingly difficult to drive past, let alone even walk by the house. Many folks describe this last week as traumatizing to say the least. You might think things are normal around here, but that couldnt be further from the truth. I dont know what normal is. Reporter for the last eight days, neighbors trying to live their daytoday lives cant help but think about what a happened in inside this home. Just to know what happened to them is just heart wrenching. Reporter its why many cant look away and others have stopped to pray. A Prince William county woman is in jail accused of attacking a man with insect killer. A 40yearold man says he and Shanika Davis were arguing at a home in brist tol. The Man Told Police davis attacked him so he locked himself in the bathroom. Investigators say davis dismantled the doorknob and sprayed the insect killer in the hole. Davis faces several charges. It will allow the county to take the homes level them and leave tracy and other homeowners with serious debt and no money for a fresh start. Whats also intriguing is according to the affidavit savopoulos assistant has given police discrepancies in when he talked to savopoulos and information about the 40,000 cash, the money dropoff at the northwest d. Well, police have bisted a pizza delivery robbery ring in spotsylvania county. Investigators say teenagers 13 to 18 years old have been robbing pizza delivery drivers at gun point for nearly a year. They hit about 11 homes and 9 cars in that time. So during the robberies the teenagers would demand both money and the food. But one of the teenagers who was caught earlier this week gave police the names of the others. Prince georges county firefighters still havent determined the cause of a fire that destroyed a home in ak akeek. A firefighter shot this video just as their truck was pulling up to the house. You can see the house was fully involved. The chief ordered his firefighters to fight the flames without going inside because he was worried about a collapse. Minutes later the flaming, burning roof did cave in. No one was living there at the time, and no one was injured. Damage is estimated at 400,000. The man convicted of killing former congressional intern shandra leafy will be giving a new trial. Federal prosecutors will not stand in the way of a retrial of the man. The main Sticking Point had been for a while a testimony of a former cell meat used to help convict. After the original trial the witness was accused of lying in return for leniency from prosecutors. However, the u. S. Government says it is still confident in the conviction and is preparing for the possibility of a retrial in the levy case. That discovery has neighbors reeling. News4s derrick ward is in Charles County where hes learning details about what may have happened here. Reporter indeed. You know, were at this playground in la plata. Theres nothing remarkable, nothing that jumps out at you at first glance. But look at this swing set here. You see there were twoed toler swings. Theres only one now. And what becomes troubling is when you realize what happened to that swing, why its missing and what happened here earlier this morning. A playground. A swing set. A place of fun and frolic for most children. A place where its not unusual to see a parent pushing a child on a swing. But there was something highly unusual about a woman and a young boy at this playground at Wills Memorial Park around 7 00 a. M. A citizen called and said they noticed a woman pushing a toddler in a swing for an unusually long period of time. Reporter Police Responded and what they found was tragic, heartbreaking. As they got close, they noticed that the child in the swing wasnt moving. The 3yearold boy was lifeless. They had to cut the swing down to administer first aid to the child but it was too late. They were able to get the child out of the swing, but there was really nothing they could do. Reporter the childs mother was taken to an area hospital. No one in the neighborhood who she was or where she had come from with the child. They began canvassing the neighborhood leaving a trail of shock and sadness in this community. What were they asking . Have i seen a lady and a child walking up the sidewalk that wasnt familiar to me. And i told them no. Reporter police say they know the mothers identity as well as that of the child but theyre trying to find the childs father before they release that information to the public. Meanwhile, the youngest members of this community may not understand, but for their parents and other adults this playground, this swing dws set will never be the same manufacture its very satd. Ive been here 37 years. Never had anything like this i can remember. Thats terrible. Theres a lot of things going on now. I had students from art, students from science and engineering and communications, all different majors its very rare on a College Campus to have students with all different backgrounds and disciplines come together in one class and Work Together throughout the semester. I think having an Interdisciplinary Program on campus like this is unprecedented. The problem solving methods we learn in of the art school are entirely different than the problem solving methodses people are learning in the science school. There are about 1700 native plants in the floating wetlands. In august students will harvest those plants and remove pollution from the pond. Well areas in Southeast Texas are dealing with some major flooding right now. A slow moving system dumped several inches of rain on the region, and that flooded the interstate in corpus christi. Parts of the interstate, forced drivers to take shelter and police had to spend hours rescuing some of those stranded drivers. Im with the mayor of ocean city. Mayor, youve implemented new policies this year that i think a lot of people are going to like. Yes, he we have. Our boardwalk this year is now smokefree. We passed an ordinance and made that effective may 1st. Theres no longer smoking allowed on the boardwalk. We also took the same initiative on the beach. The beach is smoke miff free except for designated areas. We did put some areas along the beach marked with an orange can for people to smoke. But basically 99. 9 of the beach is smoke free as well. Reporter great. Now, on the fun side you and i had a great opportunity today to ride a brandnew what they call a cart coaster over at jolly roger. Ive got some video. This was me a little earlier. Mayor, you were at the opening of this. Lets talk about this five stories that you go up, 1500 feet of track. This is the largest gokart coaster of its kind on the east coast. Thats right. Its actually, you know, you start out on concrete, but its made out of wood. When you get up there and you have the wood underneath you, its like the boardwalk. Its really a different feeling and you grab hold of those turns. The turns are sharp, and those cogarts are brandnew and really move. We had a great time out there. I will say this, i came in dead last in my group. I wasnt able to pass anybody. Lets take a look and show you the forecast over the next couple of days if you want to get out here. Were not looking at much, one shower toward frederick. Thats about it. Look at the temperatures throughout the night tonight 79 degrees 72 around the 7 00 hour. Again, just a few clouds with an isolated shower 64 degrees by 9 00. Notice by 11 00 were down to 61. Its going to be a very cool night, if not a cold night tonight, when you wake up tomorrow morning. Temperatures right now in the mid70s for the most part a Beautiful Day all across our region right here in ocean city current temperature 73 cant get much better than that. Theres the shower i was talking about up there toward frederick making its way through Frederick County and upper Montgomery County. That shower will continue to move on down again maybe just an isolated shower, most of us though will stay dry tonight. Thats part of a cold front that will bring in some cooler numbers. So temperatures tomorrow will be a little bit cooler than they were today. Were talking about High Temperatures in the low to mid70s forethe most part instead of the mid to upper 70s like today. Again plenty of sunshine during the day tomorrow and a little bit of a breeze. If youre thinking about getting out there doing a bit of biking, again, starting off on the cool side 56 degrees around 9 00, 1 00 around 67 and a High Temperature tomorrow with sunshine around 73. Saturday looks great, but look at the beaches. If youre coming down here, tomorrow going to be on the cool side. Make sure you bring your sweatshirt or jacket down here along the boardwalk. But sunday and monday, look at these temperatures, High Temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s down here on sunday and on monday. Absolutely phenomenal weather. And look at this. 88 for moorl day 91 tuesday 92 wednesday 92 thursday 90 on friday. The first heat wave of the season and it just coincides with the first unofficial full week of summer. Now newly released charging documents paint a picture of a Home Invasion that turned to torture and murder. And a motive appears to be 40,000 in cash. Charging documents reveal the Home Invasion began wednesday about 6 00 p. M. , the day before the fire. There was a flurry of phone calls and Text Messages between the father Savvas Savopoulos and his personal assistant and at least one other person about the delivery of the money. And prosecutors say savopoulos assistant changed his story about when he was first called by savopoulos and how he delivered the money. Though mr.
