Thats the latest from the courthouse chris gordon reporting live. Back to you. Back to our breaking top story. The police chief and mayor now speaking about that house fire on Woodland Drive. Our Fire Department and Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Woodland Drive northwest, washington d. C. Yesterday. 3200 block about 1 30 p. M. There we told you we discovered three of our residents who were deceased three adults and one child. And today the chief will be able to provide you with all the information we have about the identities of the persons who were deceased and give you any updates that she that we have available at this point about the homicide investigation. Chief . Thank you. Thank you. So to try and give you a summary of what we knew from yesterday and update you on what we know as of today, ill start off by saying that evidence collection is going to go on for several days. There is still a lot more that we dont know. But were continuing to learn as we continue to investigate. We do know at this point that the fire appears to be intentionally set. This was an intentionally set fire and arson. Although autopsies are still being conducted, we have confirmed the identities of two of the individuals. Those are the identification of the 46yearold sava savopolus, the adult male 47yearold Amy Savopolus. We believe the other two victims which have not been confirmed yet, we believe the other two victims are 57yearold farlisha figaroa, the house keeper and the couples son, 10yearold philip savopolus. We anticipate this evidence collection is going to take several days and it will have Additional Information as those days go on. We have however, expanded our time line a little bit and our request for information from the public. First i want to say thank you to everybody who has provided information. We have gotten steady stream of information coming in from people who either lived or were in the area or had some information they thought would be useful. We appreciate that. Its been very helpful. We are now asking again for anybody who may have information about that 2008 the blue 2008 porsche. That is the vehicle we asked about yesterday. It had d. C. Tags. Dk2418. Even though that car was in fact recovered yesterday evening, it was recovered out in on annapolis road in Prince Georges County maryland and it had been set afire. Were asking anybody that may have seen that car between wednesday, the 13th and thursday around 5 00 p. M. Anybody who has seen that blue porsche between tase call us with what information you may have where you saw that vehicle or any other information you v also were asking anybody that may have information or seen anything suspicious in or around the home on the 3200 block of woodland road between wednesday the 13th and thursday the 14th around 5 00 p. M. Please give us a call. 2027279099. We have anonymous text line 50411 or any means you feel comfortable reaching out. People have emails and reached out in a variety of ways. I want to remind folks that we do for this case like every homicide case we have a 25,000 reward for any information that leads to arrest and conviction of a homicide in the district. So again, we appreciate all of the information that weve gotten. I think the only other information that we have that is new since we have started now going through the autopsies of the individuals recovered, we can say that there were at least on three of the four victims there were injuries discovered appear to be blunt force or sharp object injuries to three of the four victims. So additional injuries were discovered through the autopsy process. So with that, ill take what limited questions i can and see if i can answer them. [ inaudible question ] so its still very early on. We have a lot of evidence to do. Other than the entry made by the Fire Department we have not discovered any obvious signs of forced entry. So were continuing to collect information. Obviously, there are not many places in any area that there are not videos. We have a lot of video to review. Right now we have nothing to suggest that there was a random or a forced entry into this home. But, you know we want to have more time to sort through the evidence. You mean all four of them were homicide victims . At this point we do yes. [ inaudible question ] there is going to be a lot of information that comes from a lot of different places that im not going to be able to comment on. Im aware of the information youreim not going to kmept oncomment on anything that is speculative or evidence in the case. I cant respond to that. [ inaudible question ] obviously, the car is registered to the family and the home. We dont know who had the car. Obviously the conditions in which it was found set afire shortly after they were discovered we certainly want to know if anybody saw that car and who was in the car. Is there video in that area . I cant comment on anything that is evidence related. You talk about blunt force or sharp object on three of the four bodies. With were those the adult victims . Yeah id rather not just sensitivity to the victims. No other injuries other than the trauma . Ill just say that autopsies have not been fully completed. I dont have anything additional right now. Were any of the victims tied up . I cant comment on that. I just dont know the answer to that. The question is had the house been ran sacked . Obviously the condition after the Fire Department goes in to put out a fire it is difficult to make that determination. And we want to finish the evidence collection first. And so the other question that was asked about videos if it is evidence related, i cant answer the question. Is there anything to say about why youre asking for information about wednesday . Were expanding the time line a little bit. Yesterday we only asked if anybody had seen the car in about a six hour seven hour window time. We want to start with wednesday now and ask for anybody that had information that time frame. [ do you know anyone that saw the family thursday morning . Im not going to comment on that at this point. [ inaudible ] i wouldnt comment on that. If its evidence related, im not going to comment on that. Was there anything else that youre aware of . I cant comment on that at this point. Thank you very much. All right. Well there you have the police chief kathy lanier saying that three of the four victims in that home in Massachusetts Heights there in northwest, three of the four suffered blunt force or sharp object trauma. It was an intentionally set fire. And they are trying to look now to see anyone f. Anyone saw that blue porsche of 2008. It is a family members car. They expanded the time line through wednesday through thursday to see if anyone knows or saw anyone in that car over the 48hour period. That car was found burnt in a parking lot in Prince Georges County. So its still quite a mystery. Indeed. So much going on from festivals, of course to preakness. So were back into the 80s folks. Get ready. Take a look around the area. The other thing we have to deal with is action on storm 4 radar right now. And here for Late Afternoon, evening hours, a few showers. Going to tell you that these are very very slow moving. As will be the case this weekend. There will be little to drive the showers or storms along. So slow moving and that means the possibility of downpours. Right now were seeing some heavier rains here around areas of i81 through luray and harrisonburg. As it makes its way to the eve, it may get into areas around madison and green county and rutgersville. Slow moving for us. Were seeing cloud cover through our area. 76 your temperature under a partly sunny sky now. For the preakness, yeah some folks will be going. It is going to be humid tomorrow. The humidity starts here. Then it winds up way up there by the end of the day. Temperature 82 degrees at 1 00. By 4 00 were into the mid 80s. But with that higher humidity its likely to feel more like were in the upper 80s. Chance of thunderstorms any time after 2 00. And i think that storm chance could hold as late as 8 00 throughout the area. Those storms will be scattered. Again, keep in mind slow moving. So it will be bringing some downpours to the area. There is your chance. Its a 40 chance not everyone then will see the wet weather tomorrow. Again, scattered thunderstorms around the area. For sunday clouds once again will continue to build. In fact i think early sunday we could have a mostly cloudy sky, maybe even some fog across the area. And temperatures on sunday will be around 85 degrees. A chance of a thunderstorm. Also coming our way during the afternoon. So uncomfortable, oppressive this weekend, even the early part of next week. Temperatures start topping out closer to 90 degrees this monday coming up. Take a look too, the overnight readings. This morning we started out in the low 60s. Tomorrow morning, mid 60s. Then were with higher temperatures and more moisture in the area. So a very warm period of string of days here that will be in the 80s again. 86 on saturday. 85 on sunday. Close to 90 degrees on monday. Then mid 80s for tuesday.
