Thats all well above freezing. Thats why we think this is going to be a light to moderate event. Especially hearing how road crews are already out today pretreating the roads. Thankfully the brine is out there. Take a look at the roads tomorrow. So many people are asking what are travel conditions going to be like . We really going to be fine. Some slick spots on secondary roads. In the mountains, if youre going skiing, icy out that way. Bridges and over passes are where you want to be the most cautious tomorrow. We can catch the entire dateline special the reality of hope tonight at 10 00. Chopper 4 was on the scene in Prince Georges County this afternoon. A High School Student is in the hospital right now after getting shot just steps from the school. This is video of the student arriving at that hospital after the shooting. Doctors tell us he is expected to be okay. Reportedly the shooting started after people got into a fight in an apartment near the school annex. One of those bullets reportedly hit the building. Tracee wilkins is live in forestville talking to students. Reporter there are a lot of people here trying to figure out this is the annex here right behind me. Its a building that is separate from the Main Building of the school, sits behind the school. This is the parking lot where the shooting happened. Police tell us this is one of the areas where a bullet ricochetted off the back of this car. They collected at least five shell casings from this parking lot. One student shot. This all happened just after noon when there was a report of a student shot here. Now, according to what weve been told by Prince Georges County police, a group of students left the school, came out into the parking lot, got into an argument. One student takes out a gun, shoots the other student. That student is then dragged back towards the school. Also, in the midst of all of this there was one bullet that pierced a window of a music classroom at the annex. Luckily no other students were injured. Ran away through the apartment complex. Prince georges county police still looking for this student. We talked with students who were here at the school when it all unfolded. We were walking down the annex. We heard the shot and so we just ran up here. Reporter how many shots did you hear . I only heard one. I was scared. I was running. This is a serious occasion. I mean, someone brought a gun to school. Lives could be lost. Reporter this is a performing arts school with high achieving students. They dont understand how Something Like this could happen here. Just before noon, chopper 4 was over the scene of an accident whein burke where an s crashed into a building. There were folks inside the came through. Were told there were several injuries. The cause of that crash is still under investigation. The slick weather headed our way could make driving a little tricky out there. Earlier this afternoon chopper 4 spotted four maryland road crews spreading a salt solution along i270. These pictures are from bethesda. The Maryland Department of transportation says its pretreating roads and bridges before the winter storm expected tomorrow morning. However, officials are also urging you to drive and make smart decisions about your travel. Stay off the roads when conditions are particularly snowy or icy. A lot of that just comes down to timing, listening to the forecast and knowing when its going to go out. Whats the timeline . This moves in overnight tonight. Most likely in about the next 612 hours. Maybe even after 11 00 tonight we start to see some moisture moving in across our region. Right now we still have the temperatures into the low 50s. 54 degrees still the current temperature there. 46 by 7 00. Dropping into the 30s by around 11 00. Thats still 38. Hard to get frozen precip at 38 degrees. We have that Winter Weather advisory for everybody across our area, the exception fredericksburg and down towards extreme southern maryland. Your temperatures should stay above freezing. You may see sleet, but not too many effects on the roads. We may start off with light snow and then transform over, but this is mainly a sleet event. The difference between sleet and freezing rain, sleet will bounce off of your car, bounce off the road. You will be able to get traction on the roadways. Freezing rain is just a sheet of ice. You wont be able to get traction on that. Sleet better than freezing rain. You folks to deal with it a little bit longer. Back to the west, starting to see the moisture moving our way. You can see a lot of rain back towards kentucky. Look at parts of the west virginia. Sleet and snow developing here. But with temperatures this warm, its going to be really hard to have any problems on the roadways, at least during the early part of the storm. And they are still looking for the student who they believe is their suspect. The police cant tell you anything. The school cant call parents and let anybody know anything.
