Now the victim, the person killed has been identified as 19yearold terrance thomas. We have a picture of him. He doesnt live far from here, about five blocks. It was 8 00 when police came here on the report of a suspicious vehicle. When they got here, they found the car parked in this block with two people inside. The driver and another man both were asleep and as we hear what happened, when the police roused these two men from sleep, listen to what the police chief had to say. As they woke the individuals, the passenger immediately moved to exit the vehicle and simultaneously, these things all occurred at the same time, si pointed it both at the passenger and the female officer. Now according to police chief, the Police Officer who came up on the drivers side then shot the person who was in the drivers seat. Two guns were found. One was found on the floor board on the drivers side. The other they found when they took the other person out of the car. That person has not been identified. Hes been taken into custody. Hes no stranger to news 4 viewers who have seen him in the wednesdays child report. We love rob. He has done so much for foster children. I love the fact that they serenaded them today. Rob lives on a farm, but he grew up in manassas. He spent his childhood in foster homes until he aged out at 18 and wound up homeless. Despite his circumstances, rob finished high school and ginned the military and after that he got ao his way up the ladder. He became a successful businessman and all the while hes been giving back. Now he and his husband have four children adopted from foster care and he founded a nonprofit that we have talked about before that provides kids with items they need in their daily lives. When you realize what he had been going through, what struck you after seeing him again after all those years . I think his strength and the fact that he par laid his situation into helping other children and creating this nonprofit. And by his adopting children in foster care that needed homes. Hes become a role model to help the youth not just by my daughter, but other children learn they need to be a part of their community and give back.
