Story of a terminally ill boy dieing in santas arms is tugging at the heart strings of people around the world. Its drawing skepticism from people who say theres no proof this actually ever happened. Becca tracked down the man who was working as santa and hes sticking with his story. Ho ho ho, merry christmas. Reporter this is the busiest season for eric and his wife of 38 years, sharon. Hes worked as a thats how an icu nurse came to know him and called on him one day in mid october to the bedside of a terminally ill little boy who he says was more concerned about missing christmas than he was about dieing. Out of a promise of privacy to the family and the nurse, he has not revealed any names or identifying details and this story has touched hearts around the world that missing proof could cause too many to question his account. This is something that weighed so heavy on him that he passed up a chance to be with family, be with his grandsons that love him dearly because he obviously wasnt prepared for a child to die in his arms. There was a little boy who was terminally ill and you went on to say that it you know, this little boy a nurse had contacted you and had said something something to the effect of this little boy is upset that hes going to miss christmas. Now while he says he wont name the family or the nurse who contacted him, he is encouraging them to come forward and to back up his story. Together we adopted more than 100 kids as part of the Salvation Army angel tree program. I got to meet one of the moms so we were able to deliver. Got clothes to toys. Got a lot of bikes this year. This is the best part of my day, probably the best part of my week when she collected those toys. Shes stuffing them away in a closet somewhere. Bringing them all in on of her day, too. These were found in bags of donated items that came into the an nondale goodwill during last spring or summer, theyre not sure when. They bear the name of robert enslinger. He was an Army Second Lieutenant fighting in belgium during world war ii. He was caught in cross fire and died in his third day of battle. We learned he attended university but not much more is known. We have been conducting our own Due Diligence to track down a Family Member. We posted it online, a Family Member but each of the leads has led to a dead end up to this point. If the rightful openers arent found Clemson University has offered to add the medals to the wall of heroes. 13 years ago they tracked down owners of some other important military medals that had apparently accidentally ended up with a pile of donations.
