Reporter wendy, we got that Surveillance Video from the owner of a nearby gas station who was so upset about this crime he said he was willing to do anything he could to help get it solved and get that driver behind bars. The Surveillance Video taken from a camera near the crash scene shows two cars drive by around the time the woman was hit and killed. Fairfax county police reviewed this video in their searchdz fo the driver and other witnesses who may have seen the 76yearold woman get run over in the street. Thats awful. Thats someones grandmother. I i dont i dont know what to say about that. Someone just ran away and didnt didnt even stop to think. Reporter the victim has been identified. She was hit about 5 30 sundaynj afternoon as she shore drive. The driver kept going. Police initially believed the striking car was a nissan altma. Now they say they believe the driver may have been a witness instead. The victim was not in a crosswalk. Until we speak to the driver, we still need to continue our investigation. No matter what you cant leave the scene of an accident, period. So charges could be pending for the driver of the vehicle. Reporter the victim lived at the nearby fellowship house, a Senior Living apartment building. Residents say she hadnt lived there very long. News of her death was very troubling for her neighbors.
