Arlington police say a suspected serial predator is behind bars with dna linking him to two attacks back in 2007. They were investigating a sex assault from last month around lion village. Julie carey joins us with new details. Reporter that suspect identified as 34yearold Justin Wingate, he worked in Law Enforcement in Fairfax Countys he faces two counts of attempted abduction in connection with those 2007 cases. This was his mug shot that was taken last night. Next youre going to get a look at the composite sketch that was created back in 2007 when a sere offense attempted sex assaults had arlington women on edge. Police say poe emerged as a suspect in two of those cases recently as they investigated an incident last month near lion village. Dna from that incident was sent into the crime lab. It matched dna taken from one of the bags in 2007. There also happened to be a latent fingerprint on one of those bags. Other evidence pointed to poe as a possible suspect. They were latent fingerprint to one of those given more recently. He is only charged with two of the cases back in 2007, but more charges are likely. Ill tell you more about his Employment Status out in Fairfax County and well look more closely at how police have developed this case and connected these dots at 5 00. Back to back crashes on a busy road in Montgomery County. A person died in one of them this morning. Police are still trying to figure out in the two sites may be connected. Thats where the driver was killed. Police say based on the tremendous amount of wreckage left behind here they believe speed was a factor in this accident, but they still dont know what caused the second accident where two men were taken into custody. The 2009 toyota camry barely recognizable after the crash was headed eastbound on randolph road. The 911 call came in at 6 55 a. M. One minute later, another 911 call. Another crash on randolph road. This one at New Hampshire avenue. In the first crash, the driver was killed. In the second accident, three of the passengers fled the scene. Two of the men from that car are now in custody. Police are still trying to figure out if the accidents were related in any way. Theres no indication that i know of that struck each other or collided with one another. Reporter now while police say the cars did not hit each other, theyre not ruling out that somehow these two accidents were related and they are questioning the two men in custody about that. New this afternoon, weve learned how a passport an the picture of an actress picture of an actress federal prosecutors say they have uncovered an Identity Theft ring that involved thousands of victims and net dollars. One scam involved a fake job posting on craigslist where the people who posted it would use personal information to set up a show company. Then they processed payments for that company through stolen credit cards. Another scam involved fake travel ads on facebook. That added up to well over 2 million. The fatal flaw in the plan involved this digitized passport. It was a prop image from a tv show. Investigators searched who downloaded the image to trace it back to their suspects. The Human Rights Campaign here in washington is paying tribute to victims of the orlando nightclub shooting. Large scale images of all 49 victims are now featured in the front windows of its headquarters on rhode island avenue northwest. There is also the message, quote, we are orlando. The group does work to promote today a spokesperson described sundays tragedy as the worst theyve ever seen. We want to make this a very visible reminder of what happened last sunday and that it really cannot be unnoticed walking by this building today what weve been through. Records show the couple transferred the deed of their home to mateens older sister two months before the attack. As the investigation continues, so does the healing and the recovery. This investigation started when authorities were investigating dozens of overdoses, some of them fatal. 86 so far this year in Frederick County. 64 in the city of frederick. They tracked down the source of these drugs to new york. They say theyve dismantled a drug ring and in the process saved lives because these drugs wont reach the streets now.
