Reporter monday a cleanup crew that specializes in Hazardous Materials worked to deacon tam nature a dallas apartment. The woman who lives there is a nurse at texas presbyterian hospital. She was diagnosed with the ebola virus over the weekend. I feel awful that a Health Care Worker became infected in the care of an ebola patient. She was there trying to help the first patient survive. And now she has become infected. Reporter the theres for Disease Control says a breach of protocol led to the first person to person ebola transmission in the United States and is leading Top Health Officials to reexamine ebola patients. Reporter missionary Nancy Writebol recently survived an infection while working in liberia. She says wearing protective garb is important when wearing with ebola patients but how a nurse or doctor takes off the garb is just as important. Its possible that when you come out of a unit that as you take off your gloves, you might even touch your face. Reporter writebol urges americans to have compassion for ebola victims. I think that all of us need to have a respectful fear of ebola. It is serious. But a panic . Because we have these cases . I dont think its right or good. Reporter despite several airport ebola scares over the past week, no other cases of the deadly disease have been confirmed. Chris pallone, nbc news, dallas. Close to home now, we want to get right to breaking news in Montgomery County. News4s Jackie Bensen at holy Cross Germantown hospital. We are hearing there is a patient in isolation. What more can you tell us at this point . Reporter i can tell you that this is something that we have heard of before in the last couple of weeks. Which is with he have had situations at local hospitals where patients have presented with some symptoms that could be interpreted as ebola symptoms. You know, fever, things like that. Who presented a history. And thats what they call it in the emergency room, when they talk to the patient that find out a little bit about where they have been. That history of in this case, sources tell us the patient having been to begguinea led th to begin the protocol, which you heard mentioned before, when we talk about this. For isolation in case the what the symptoms manifest themselves into ebola. So right now what we have is a patient in the hospital, and precautions are being taken to ensure their safety and the safety of Hospital Personnel while the tests are done to see what exactly it is they have. And you remember the patient, i believe at shady grove last week turned out to have malaria, i think. So what theyre doing right now is testing and caution. We can also tell you the person was transported here by a Montgomery County ambulance. That ambulance per cdc protocols was disinfected. And that because the two patients from that we saw at shady grove and howard, that there were questions about what they had. They did not come in by ambulance, but this disinfection of ambulance is standard protocol when you deal with things that could possibly be as serious as ebola. No confirmation whatsoever of any test positive or anything like that. This is what were seeing the system that we have in this area working. The person presents with some symptoms, find out were you in africa, were you where someplace where you could have contracted ebola. And then they take every precaution until they know exactly what it is. Jackie bensen on the scene for us again. The hospital in question is holy Cross Germantown hospital where that patient was brought in by ambulance this afternoon. Three out of four nurses say their hospitals have not provided sufficient education for them about ebola. Thats according to a large survey from the professional association of registered nurses in the United States. Dr. Anthony fauci is one of the nations top experts on Infectious Diseases like ebola. He joined news4s Barbara Harrison here in our studio. Dr. Fauci said proper training for Health Care Workers is critical.
