Now the challenge is keeping him from doing it again. Police tell us hes been arrested 70 times. Jackie bensen talked to the head of d. C. s Sex Crimes Unit about this case in an interview youll only see on news4. Reporter the long list of people outraged by this includes the police. The image released by d. C. Police january 12th shows a man described as a possible suspect as he would have looked walking away from a shocked and disgusted female has just been groped against her will. It was one of three similar crimes in the logan circle area in 24 hours. They arrested the michael hill yard on january 14th. They quickly learned he had a lengthy criminal history. These offenses are over two decades. He has more over 70 arrests, 20 more which are for sexual offenses. Hill yard walked out of court the day after that arrest. Charged with misdemeanors he was ordered to undergo mental evaluation, to come back to court february 2nd. He was back even sooner. Wed morning he was arrested again for doing the exact same thing, groping a female pedestrian, this time in the 1600 block of 7th street northwest. For us its extremely frustrating. Were doing our part trying to protect the community. Literallyda theyre back out and recommitting within a day or two. Reporter the charges from wednesdays arrest include kidnapping, a felony. Hill yard was ordered jailed until his next Court Hearing friday. Police believe there are other victims and very much want to hear from them. Come to us, let us know. New at 11 00 tonight a United Airlines flight from Dulles Airport had to make an Emergency Landing in nashville because of what authorities call a hot spot on one of its engines. Crews had to spray that engine down with water after landing. Everyone evacuated safely. United 6176 left dulles around 5 30 this evening on its way to nashville. United took that plane out of service. So that return flight to our area was cancelled. The georgetown mot the hotel to evacuate tonight. Somebody made the threat over the phone. Police searched the building but didnt find anything. The hotel says guest safety was its primary concern. Tonight mayor Muriel Bowser is standing firm, defending d. The amtrak engineer involved in a crash that killed eight people and injured hundreds more is blaming the company for that wreck. He is suing amtrak saying the company failed to address reports that people were throwing objects at trains on that section of track. He says he was left disoriented or unconscious when something hit his train causing that crash in may of 2015 in philadelphia. Federal investigators, thoug they say he was simply distracted by reports of another train getting hit by an object, that he accelerated and he caused the crash.
