Getting home could be a little problematic, but im not too worried about that either. Mostly this is north of d. C. But the bigger storm comes wednesday into thursday. You mentioned not one but two storms. That one has a lot of rain and potentially has some snow associated with it too. That could bring possible flooding and accumulating snow. There are new details tonight from police about what started a standoff in gaithersburg. Investigators say two Business Partners got into an argument. It was at a townhouse on kelso terrace at about 5 00 this afternoon. The owner of that house pulled out a shotgun. The other person ran, called police. When chopper 4 was over the scene, police were evacuating all the neighbors. Police say that standoff ended peacefully. The man with the shotgun has now been locked up. Tonight a Montgomery County mother is vowing to take action after a ruling by Child Protective Services. She said theres nothing wrong with her freerange style of parenting. And says they now feel violating. Danielle meitiv says her kids are happy and safe and not the ones Child Protective Services should worry about. Unsubstantiated child neglect. By the dictionary definition ub substantiated means without evidence. In the letter the state of maryland finds Danielle Meitiv and her husband responsible for unsubstantiated child neglect. In december they let devora and rafi walk home alone during the day, a onemile trip. The police picked the children up on georgia avenue. That walk home sparked National Debate over a parenting philosophy the meitivs still stand firmly behind, freerange parenting. Theyve even taken on more responsibility. They now get themselves to and from the bus both in the morning and the afternoon on time right. Reporter the state cant discuss individual cases but tells us an unsubstantiated finding typically occurs when the agency has some information supporting a finding of child neglect or has what appear to be credible reports that ared a odds with each other or does not have sufficient information to reach a more definitive conclusion. Developing tonight a woman files a classaction lawsuit against an area Restaurant Owner charged with secretly videotaping women in the bathroom. The suit was filed in Howard County today. Kyle mulehauser owner of rams head tavern faces peeping tom charges. They found footage of six different women. They arrested him last week. The suspect and his business were named in that suit. A terror suspect from Northern Virginia is now in jail in somalia. That according to a u. S. Law enforcement official. Liban mohammed was placed on the fbis most wanted terrorist list about a month ago. Hes charged with providing support to al qaeda and al shabaab. The fbi believes he left the u. S. Back in 2012. He was once a cab driver in Northern Virginia. A potential delay in the murder trial against jesse matthew. According to our affiliate in chart s charlottesville, his lawyers say they need time to hire a dna expert. They plan to use dna e matthew so defense lawyers want their own expert to look at the evidence. Hes charged with murdering uva student hannah graham. His trial is slated to start the 29th. Darcy spencer show us the argument hes using in order to get his conviction thrown out. We went through the legal brief. In it the former governor goes step by step to make his case to once again prove his innocence. Here are some of the arguments that mcdonnell is making. He says the governments case against him was built on a definition of bribery that the Supreme Court has already rejected. Also he says Johnny Williams sr. , thats the wealthy businessman he was convicted of accepting bribes from did not get anything but the routine courtesies elected officials from across the country get every day. And finally, mcdonnell raises questions about the testimony and the immunity granted to him to testify. In a statement mcdonnell said quote, the Appeals Court has clearly indicated that major issues should be heard during this process. I am confident that the verdict will be overturned and my innocence restored. Thats the endoof that quote. Now, the former governor was sentenced to two years in prison. His wife was sentenced to one year and a day in prison. She appealed her conviction today as well. Theyre both free on bond. There was a debate tonight over whether to build the purple line that would run through some of the maryland suburbs. The main Sticking Point in the argument is the price tag. 2. 5 billion. Reporter a transportation project as controversial as it gets. A total and complete waste. Reporter a project now dividing many in the maryland suburbs. Were literally at the oneyard line. It matters because this potential rail line that would connect bethesda and New Carrollton could make for an easier commute. So outside everybody out here says the purple line makes sense. Theyre chanting about it. Why does it make sense . Well it connects employment it connects people it connects metro. No county pet store actually sells puppies and kittens right now from places like that but supporters of the bill want to prevent future businesses from doing so. News 4 first told you weeks ago about an alarming shortage of psychiatrists in the washington area. Now weve learned its not just a problem for adults but for children too. And all too often kids end up waiting weeks, even months for Mental Health help. Tonight Doreen Gentzler is changing minds when it comes to helping children with mental ill illness. Reporter Meg Gallagher was only 5 when her teachers noticed something wasnt quite right. She was very bright but she had a difficult time sort of following classroom instructions and there were a couple other things you know hyperak activity and that kind of thing. Reporter meg was eventually diagnosed with bipolar disorder also anxiety and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder. But when it came time to find a child psychiatrist who could help her, her mother christy said it took months to get an appointment. Its very scary if you cant get in to see the help you need you just worry a lot as a parent. Theres a crisis shortage in this country. Reporter experts say megs case is actually the norm rather than the exception. Darcy is the director of the child and adolescent Action Center for nami the National Alliance for mental illness. She says there are fewer than 10,000 child psychiatrists in the u. S. With the need exceeding 30,000. Its very problematic, and the stress and the tension is transferred to the family. So the family has to be put on a long waiting list. Typically three to six months is what we hear from families they have to wait. Reporter she says fewer students are going into the field because child psychiatry not only requires more years of schooling, but its also perceived as less prestigeiousprestigious. But compounding the shortage many if not most child psychiatrists dont take health insurance, so families need to pay out of pocket and that can cost hundreds of dollars for each appointment. That prices many families right out of getting the care they need. Its critical to get Mental Health care when its needed. The reason is because now were seeing through research the earlier someone is diagnosed and treated, the lesser the longterm severity of their Mental Health condition. We knew we needed to get help but until you can get in to see someone, it doesnt work. Reporter Christy Gallagher eventually got her daughter meg the help she needed though now the whole family is in therapy and he pay out of pocket for every appointment. All of our providers do not take insurance. So you have to be able to put that cost up front, and her psychiatrist is around 200 an hour. So there are families i know that are suffering because they cant do that. Reporter the lack of access to psychiatric help inspired christy to start a support group for other parents with similar issues. She says its not only been therapeutic for her, but its a place for everyone to share their tips and advice. Also dont give up on trying to get help from either the county or the School System when you need it. And you know dont forget to speak up. Reporter so what do you do if youre seeking help for your child and you cant find it . Nami recommends going to your pediatrician and get a list of Mental Health providers and ask them to make the calls for you. Dont just accept the piece of paper. Get them to help you.
