accident, 9d5 northbound throug the prince william parkway. joe? >> thank you. police in fairfax county are looking for a man who walked into a barbershop and opened fire. one person was killed, another was injured in the attack of the bellevue shopping center of the alexandria section of fairfax county. tracy wilkins is there with the latest. good morning. >> good morning. we do know more about the suspect. but we don't know his name because police are not releasing it. but you can see behind me this is an active scene. fairfax county police have been out here all morning. it looks like they're moving right now, a reminder this is a very active search as well. show you some of the video from overnight. fairfax county police searched neighborhoods throughout the bellevue area. at one point, they entered the home with a blood hound. they searched a vehicle parked back here in the strip mall parking lot. police say they know who they're looking for, but, again, they're not releasing the suspect's name. this all began shortly after 2:00 p.m. yesterday. police say a former employee of the barbershop walked inside of the shop, was there for a few minutes, and then opened fire, killing 39-year-old employee hun li and injuring another 38-year-old employee. the suspect was on the scene and then saw -- he was seen running away from the barber shot and police are looking for him every since. police aren't saying what led to this shooting. this is an active search for the suspect. they're saying this man is violent. back to you in the studio. >> thank you. also in fairfax county, a mother is keeping her 7-year-old daughter home from school until she knows the young girl is safe, she said. this after she says a bully tied up and choked her. jasmine rohrer's mother said her daughter is afraid to return to the brookfield elementary school in chantilly because of the attack. she said a boy wrapped a jump rope around her neck and tied her to a pole. two of jasmine's friends heard her crying on the playground and up tied her. her mother said this is not the first time this boy had picked on her daughter and she said the school knew what was happening. >> i told them over and over that this is not going to happen again, this is -- it's getting worse. they told me -- they basically assured me this wouldn't happen again. this happened worst this time. >> the student accuse in the attack have been suspended. the rohrers have hired an attorney. new rules in effect for air traffic controllers after another fell asleep on the job. a live look at reagan to anyone else who may have been victimized by chamblin in the past. this morning, we learn admore tried to reverse after driving to the hudson river with her children. police say the mother loaded all four of her children in a min e minivan before driving down a boat ramp in newburerg new york. her 10-year-old son escaped through a window and ran to a station for help. the mother told her son she made a mistake and she was trying to reverse but it was too late. she was upset his stepfather was cheating on her. ten bodies are found on a new york beach. the fbi will provide technology. police think it could be the dumping ground for a serial killer. police believe four of the victims were killed by the same person. they were all female prostitutes who advertised on-line. officials in north korea say they've detained an american man for an unspecified crime and are going to indict him. the u.s. state department confirms an american is in custody. they're calling on north korea to release him immediately. a new problem regarding a disaster in japan. officials at the damaged nuclear reactor are searching for ways to get rid of the damaged fuel rods saying there are signs of surging radiation. meanwhile, they say restoring the cooling systems at the plant will take months. right now, water is pumped into the pool to prevent the rods from overheating. but readings of the pool show signs of three radioactive elements that are not normally found in that pool. gay rights groups are once again clashing with virginia attorney general ken cuchinelli. this time, the issue is whether gay couples can adopt children. the board of social services cannot pass new regulations to allow same sex adoptions. the regulations would add sexual orientation to the classes related to examination. gay rights groups, thoughs, are urging the social services board to look at negotiations anyway. meeting in minnesota federal court. the first face-to-face meeting between the two sides since the owners locked out the nfl players a little more than a month ago. this is the first work stoppage since 1987. the judge told both sides to keep the meeting confidential. despite the lock out, they released the preseason schedule earlier this week. lawyers for barry bonds said they'll appeal the guilty verdict after a jury found he was guilty. they deadlocked on three charges as the
