the kidnapper told him to get in the passenger side and the suspect did the driving in this incident. police say he drove to various locations. we don't know which locations they were. but this was an effort to obtain cash from the victim. at some point today. but it ended at 3:00. that was here at the bp gas station. the robber jumped out of the vehicle and remains at large. there was a very similar incident that happened at the same giant food shopping center parking lot on wednesday evening. montgomery police tell me they're very aware of the similarities in these cases and they're continuing that investigation. but the good news here is that the victim in the case, while he was obviously shaken up about this incident, he was driven around in an effort to get money from him, they did stop off here at this gas station and the suspect jumped out, and that victim was unharmed. police are continuing their investigation tonight. reporting live from northwest d.c., darcy here we go. >> the key was almost over. not final just yet. after 149 days, the nba and its players have reached a tentative agreement that would end the lockout. as of this morning it is just a handshake agreement. if all goes as planned, the nba season will open on christmas day. wizards fans, though, you'll have to wait just one day long as washington's season opener will be december 26th against the nets at verizon center. the agreement is somewhat of a surprise considering the players union disbanded 12 days ago and filed an antitrust lawsuit against the nba. at the time commissioner david stern said the nba could be headed toward a, quote, nuclear winter, but friday both sides' lawyers held a 15-hour secret meeting and early this morning announced they expect the season to be saved. the league plans to play a 66-game season once that collective bargaining agreement becomes official. step one, though, the nba players union must reform, then both parties will hold a vote. the players union needs a majority. the nba needs 15 of its 29 owners' votes. but both sides making concessions. >> a lot of work to be done, and a lot of places with a lot of committees and player groups and the like. but we're optimistic that it will hold. and we'll have ourselves an nba season. >> for myself, it's great to be a part of, you know, this particular moment in terms of getting our back in the headlines, it appears the magic kingdom will not extend into prince george's county. disney is scrapping the plan to build a 500-room resort hotel at national harbor. a spokesman said the 22-year-old jerome nickens was found shot multiple times. he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. the suspect got away in a silver dodge stratus with another man driving. no word behind a motive for this shooting. a car crash in howard county, maryland, happened last night on lawyers hill road in elk ridge. police say the car had five people inside, and left the roadway and hit a tree. an 18-year-old and 19-year-old were killed. police believe they were not wearing seat belts. three american students detained in cairo are on their way back home this evening. derrick
