Reporter is it a Significant Development into the investigation of the murder that happen here over the weekend or a tragic coincidence that speaks more to the level of crime here at petworth that has heretofore gone largely unnoticed. Pursuing investigations of two crime that happened within hours of each other may bear that out. Sources tell news4 that investigators are exploring the possible connection between the Fatal Shooting of Neil Godleski after midnight last sunday and a shooting that happened earlier saturday evening in the 4700 block of illinois avenue northwest. It is one of the streets that feeds on to sherman circle. The sources say that shell casings from the earlier shooting involving a teenage victim who was wounded could be a match with those associated with the Fatal Shooting later that same evening. Police continue to investigate the shooting of 31yearold Catholic University student Neil Godleski, shot several times as he rode his bicycle toward the circle. He was pronounced dead a short time later in nearby hospital. Neil was the sweetest person you could have ever met. Last night a vigil was held at the site where he fell. And city and federal officials have begun the process of installing additional lights in the circle. The motive in the Fatal Shooting is still under investigation. Were live in petworth, back to you. The man known as the serial stabber will remain in a michigan jail without bail. Elias abuelazam is accused in 18 stabbings in virginia, michigan and ohio. Abuelazam is suspected in three stabbings in leesburg. He was arrested in atlanta earlier this month where official say he was trying to leave the country. A new york cab driver who was stabbed by a passenger this week is speaking out. He said he was attacked because of his religion. So again, this is expected to back major hurricane as it makes its way toward the northwest at about 13 miles an hour passing to the east. Thats good news but theyll see some high surf, the winds as well. It will impact our shoreline if youre thinking about going down to the beach on saturday, sunday, maybe into monday. Look for some high surf and the potential for rip currents. Be careful out. There Tropical Storm earl striking at 45 miles an hour. Making its way toward the west and then it too, too, is expected to go away from the United States. So that so far, some good news. There are a couple more waves behind those two systems. In this one, he was wearing a skull cap. In the most recent incident, the victim talks about a squared off prominent chin. In the computer created composite, there is a squared off chin. Montgomery county officials have been in contact with police in other areas to see if they know of any similar attacks on elderly people that might be related to the assaults in germantown. Border police in pole ant have caught a former Little League coach from Fairfax County who is wanted for sexually abusing boys here. The polish Police Arrested 39yearold. The bus was stopped at an interpol check point. He was accused of sexually abusing five boys between the ages of 10 and 16 in virginia between 1992 and 2008. He fled to europe after failing to appear for a scheduled court date last october. Finger scan letters soon be used for admittance to Recreation Centers in Montgomery County. Switching from plastic passes will save 50,000 a year for the county. The scanners will be in place at all rec centers by next year. Reporter that excitement turned to disappointment tuesday night when the Prince William county board of supervisors voted to halt the hiring plans. The supervisor said their Research Revealed too much uncertainty. Especially because the money is only available for one year. We dont know how much money is coming. We dont know when it will come. Were not even 100 sure how it can be used. And it seemed to point out that we not allow the staff to make these multimilliondollar spending decisions without getting clear direction from the board of supervisors and the school board. The School Administrators say there was a reason they were acting so swiftly them wanted to get them or sgrentd into the new positions before the school year started so they wouldnt have to disrupt classroom later. Suddenly, the hiring is off until perhaps next year. At this point, we are not hiring any additional staff for the current year. We will go back through the school board, the superintendent, and develop an additional plan or idea, options on how we can address these funds. This mother of three who worries about growing class sizes fears the kids are losing out in a political power play. I think everybody should be on the same page as far as helping the kids. The firefighters rescued two girls and an hour and a half later, the flame were still spreading. They poured so much water on the house that it flooded. A shih tzu found starved in Prince William county is in need of a loving new owner. Sweetpea was found in Prince William county. Animal control Officials Say she had a fever and a terrible injury on her back leg. Animal control is waiting for her owners to come forward. For now she is in the care of vets at the dale city animal hospital. They may have to amputate her leg because of infect but she is a courageous little dog, they say.
