redskins team would show up this week after last week's embarrassing loss. a week full of questions about coach jim zorn's future. dan is live in the locker room. i imagine the mood tonight is far different than the mood last week? >> yeah, man. everybody is really pleased. to escape with a win, craig. it could have been a total organizational melt doin instead of 1 of 3 they are 2-2 on the season thanks to a stellar defensive effort and a quarterback who refeuds to give up after a -- refused to give up after a mizable first half and play one of the best of his career. before the game, from the owner, dan snider we start late in the first quarter. fourth and four. jason campbell trying to squeeze it into malcolm kelley but he's double covered. there to make what is just a nice play he returns it 16 yards. one of three interceptions on the day for it to lead. jason campbell struggled mightily in the first half. fast forward to the third quarter. this probably the play of the game for jason campbell. drops back and he's looking deep for santanna moss. moss, his 59 yards for the score. that was the difference, the redskins win it, 16-13. the skins improved to 2-2. jim zorn knows there's still plenty of work to be done. >> we did win. i'm not satisfied at all, spending the whole first half looking for yardage. looking for success. and i'm going to spend this week trying to, again, come up with the right planned athe right answers. >> that was jim zorn. zorn and rest of the players trying to say that this was just another win but they knew how important this was. we'll hear from them coming up in a few. >> dan, thank you. appreciate it. unmoved by last week's loss to the lowly lions with today redskins fans packed their optimism in the cooler and flocked to fedex. derrick ward spent the day with them. >> reporter: before kick off with a season that seemed to be going south, outward signs were all wes well in redskins nation. traffic showed no signs of waning fans and neither did the tailgating. >> it doesn't matter. we'll pay anything for redskins' tickets. >> reporter: even these loyalties are starting to get strained and some of the ill will is aimed at the owner. things like the parking fees. >> we're paying with this $40 parking. >> i have the redskins tattooed on me. i love the redskins but i hate daniel snider. he's got to go. got any thoughts? >> we did talk to some fans who said you just couldn't keep them away from this game regardless of the record. it's the whole experience. even they have their limits. >> i'm a die-hard fan but we need to get rid of the coach. can't call the plays right. >> i come to the games for the atmosphere to be with family and friends. i'd like for the team to do better but at the current pace everybody has district's handgun ban. eight american soldiers have been killedn afghanistan and one is being called one of the fiercest fights since the war began eight years ago. hundreds of insurgents stormed on saturday. the gun battle ended with the most loss of life since july of 2008. the deadly attack is likely to fuel the debate over the direction of the war. president obama is considering a request to sen more troops to afghanistan. >> we'll do what is necessary to accomplish our goal in afghanistan. but we're not going to do it without having taken stock. without going through a comprehensive and responsible assessment. where all voices are heard. and the president makes a judgment. there's no decision more serious, david, than putting more americans into harm's way. the president will okay police-involved shootings in prince george's county just 12 hours apart. the latest one was around 6:30 this morning on brooks drive. an off-duty d.c. cop shot one of two people he says were trying to break into his car. both suspects got away. one suspect is believed to be injured. the second shooting was about file miles away near the county line. and the police say they got into a scuffle with the driver during a traffic stop and the driver was shot. the driver is expected to recover. a posble airplane hijacking averted today in pakistan. airport security arrested a green man they say tried to smuggle a gun on to a plane. the man tried to board a plane headed to dubai. the airport scanners found a 9 millimeter pistol hidden in the betterry compartment of his laptop. they questioned him but say it's unclear why he had the gun. the man was traveling with his mother. she was not detained. a foreign leader who made headlines for appearing to be drunk at an international press conference. been found dead. the latest. and new developments in the arrest of the man accused of secretly taping th espn reporter. and flu shot hysteria. thousands turn out at an area flu clinic. so many they had to shut it down hours early. chuck, what's in the forecast? looking good. when the next chance for rain? there was a two-hour wait at a drive-through flu shot clinic in maryland today. shortly after the clinic started the amount of people hoping to get evacuation natd forced the organizers to turn some away. >> the flu clinic started at 10:00 this morning and 1:45 later the line had to be cut off because 6,000 people had already arrived. >> reporter: a drive-through to fight the flu in howard county you didn't even have to get out of your car to get a free shot or nasal misflu vaccine. the tuout was so huge some people waited in traffic for hours to get to the health department's outdoor clinic set up in a columbia office park. >> it took almost two hours but it's okay. it was worth it. >> did this surprise you in. >> not really. all this h1n1 scare going on. >> reporter: these vaccinations were for the seasol flu only. howard county health officials suspect the h1n1 attention did motivate people to come out for this event. howard county's top health officer says this is the largest drive-through flu shot clinic in the u.s. about 6,000 peopl were vaccinated. others had to be turned away. >> it's a huge turnout. last year we had about 3900 doses and in about five hours. today we've had to shut down the traffic after only about an 1:45. >> i think it's for the better, everybody is like, maybe i should get it. usually a lot of people are leery and don't want to get it. >> natasha brought her son zachary to the clinic and appreciated the drive-through convenience despite the long line. >> they watched a movie in the car and they are none the wiser. they don't know where we're going or when we get there so they were happy. >> the county is expecting to get the h1n1 vaccine for a clinic in the next month or so. howard county health leaders say they were glad to see so many people taking the seasonal flu seriously. each year the illness kills more defense was stellar in this game. jason campbell said, i've never on any level had three interceptions in a game. not only did he have three interceptions he had a turnover. he rallied after a terrible first half to have possibly, the best quarter of his career. the redskins escape with a 16-13 win and improve to 2-2 on the season. a lot better off than where they could have been. things didn't start the way jim zorn had hoped. third play of the game, jason campbell sacked by jimmy wilkerson and he fumbleless. it's a buccaneers ball on the 10 yard line. this is worst case scenario for the redskins. two place later, josh johnson for the buccaneers, who had never thrown for a touchdown pass did just that. finds antonio bryant and buccaneers on the board, 7-0. still first quarter, the redskins go for it on fourth and four on the 37 yard line. jason campbell tried to squeeze it into malcolm kelley but he was double covered. a team to lead makes the interception and he returns it 16 yards. campbell and zorn are baffled at this point where he and morris and the buccaneers going into halftime with a 10-0 lead. redskins desperately need something to go right early in the third quarter and it happened. josh johnson looking for bryant, d'angelo hall steps in front and make the interception and gets across the field and picks up 22 yards, setting up the first score of the game which was a 42 yard field goal. still in the third quarter, fourth and two on the 36. skins going for it again. on the play action. jason campbell hits chris cooley and he was not the intended receiver but they improvised. 12-yard gain in the first down. cooley 5 catches for 65 yards. five plays later, campbell to cooley again. over the middle, 17 yard touchdown after a brock extra point the redskins still down 10-9. jim zorn and campbell starting to get their groove back. campbell going downfield and how sweet was this? the play of the game. santanna moss beat akeeb talib, 59 yard touchdown and the redskins are up 16-10, giving the fans something to cheer about. late in the game, bucs with the ball and skins up by three and looky here. jeremy jarman and the redskins escape with a 16-13 win and they are now 2-2 and avoid a disasterly start. >> things got so bad for the redskins that the team walked off this field to a shower of boos at halftime. the redskins' faithful including jason campbell himself were left wondering what the heck is wrong with this redskins' offense. campbell had been sacked three times. turned the ball over three times. this entire team knew they had to do something quick. >> we have every right to get those boos. we really did. that first half we didn't play good football. >> this particular halftime was quiet and calm. nobody got all riled up for nothing. we know we can do it. we stayed focus and knew we didn't play our best football yet and went out there and did it enstead of talking about it. >> everybody was booing left and right and -- i was like the only way you can do anything is not wary about what their saying or doing. that's part of it. just keep playing and keep your head in the game and focus. >> the one second-half play jason campbell said to help lift the pressu from his shoulders was on defense. he watched d'angelo hall intercept josh johnson for the defense, it has struggled mightily against the lions it was just one highlight that capped a significant improvement. >> about time we head a play on defense. we needed to make the plays on defense and get our confidence back going and let everybody though, we can still play. >> our defensive coordinator was under fire and we didn't like that. we felt like it was definitely us and not his callsere the reason we didn't play well on the last game. it was more about us executing. >> reporter: the last week against the lions they were horrible. today they allowed come pa bay to convert on only two of 13 first down opportunities.
