>> there are a lot of people who are crazy today, and yesterday as well, yeah. we went to the zoo. >> reporter:isitors say the metro stations were packed as well, so many tourists heading to the mall and other destinations. some were inconvenienced when a bomb threat and suspicious package closed the pentagon city metro station for two hours this evening. the difficulty in getting here was worth the trouble to see the blossoms in pink bloom. >> it was very romantic. the trees -- and you're sitting on the green lawn, too many people. i would have preferred to be a little bit more alone. >> reporter: what did you think of washington today with all of the people? >> a little too much. a little crowded. >> reporter: this weekend's been great for tourism. some folks we spoke to said they got some excellent package deals to stay at some area hotels. the tourism expected to continue tomorrow for easter sunday. there will be a sunrise service 6:30 a.m. at the steps of the lincoln memorial. i'm darcy spencer reporting live from the title basin, back to you, craig. >> darcy, thank you. a lot of folk are guessing up before dawn for sunrise services, in fact, justin's here now with a look at what they can expect. justin? >> it can't get a whole lot better, craig. >> no. >> for the services earlier tomorrow morning. i think there will be some clouds though hanging around just right around that sunrise time which will be at 6:48. so the sun may be somewhat limited depending on how quick these clouds can get out as we do have a cold front coming our way, break down the temperatures early tomorrow morning, if you're up early for that sunrise rvice, 6:00, 6:30 or so we'll number the upper 50s. by noontime we'll be approaching -- actually that should be out in the 70s. another day with temperatures back in the 70s, possibly 80 in some of the warm spots. all the details in the "7-day" coming up. >> that's a nice forecast. thanks, buddy. well, gilbert arenas will serve his month-long community service r a gun charge in montgomery county. pled guilty back in january of possessing a gun without a license. a judge sentenced him to 400 hours of community service and 30 days at a halfway house. the nba suspended arenas for the gun incident inside of the verizon wireless locker room. the wizards say that arenas will return to the team next season. supreme court justice john paul stevens said today that he will definitely retire while president obama is in the white house. in fact, he says he'll most likely step aside in the next year. that will leave the door open for the president's second supreme court nominee. his first nominee sonia soderbergh. and stevens will decide if he will step down this year or in early 2011. eleanor holmes norton is impressed how a community has come together. nine people were shot tuesday night in southeast d.c. four of them died. del great norton says she met with the families of victims last night. >> i was very impressed, that instead of waiting for the funeral, instead of only praying -- praying is always important, but they were meeting before any of the funeral dates had been set in order to try to figure out what the community uld be doing. >> delegate norton says she talked to the mothers of all four victims and offered prayers and support. meanwhile, police is charged three nimthat shooting spree. prosecutors say they will not pursue charges against a metrobus driver accused of flashing a knife at another driver. it happened yesterday afternoon while the bus driver was on the job. metro officials say the bus driver who was on the u-2 line when he and a passenger both tried to merge on "w" street in southeast. the two drivers got into some sort of argument. the person driving the passenger vehicle says that the metro driver pulled a knife. while no new charges are filed in the case, metro sa they're still investigating. pope pope benedict has celebrated easter mass with no mention of the sex scandal that's been looming over catholic church. some catholics have criticized the pope, and others, for what they say is a cover-up over abuse by priests. tonight, theatican newspaper denounced those accusations as a, quote, vial defamation operation against the pope. and in vatican city officials spent day doing damage control. two priest ethic in rome say easter may be the perfect time for the catholic church to anew itself to its people. >> it's, lie, having to have surgery in order to remove the tumor. kuert disease so that the priesthood could be build up in the future. meanwhiles the attorneys of the abuse victimless in the united states have released more documents showing that church officials knew about the problem, but did nothing. tonight, many eager ipad fans have those new gadgets in their hands. apple started to sell the new device this morning. it's across between the iphone and a laptop. you can play music, games, surf the web, or use it to read books and newspapers. so you can see there, crowds gathered oudsighted apple sto in arlington, to be among the first to get the ipad. analyst forecasts say that apple will sell about 1 million ipads by the end of june. it cost about 500 bucks, a fancier one runs about $800. still ahead tonight security beefed up at "dancing with the stars" because of explicitly death threats again erin andrews and tell you about that and also the massive recall that has the federal government recommending that many people gut their houses, and mistake it appearsta late-night rivalry has released details about the new harry poer movie. what is this donovan mcnabb playing for the redskins, huh? over in new england. >> no. >> not you? >> no that wasn't me. >> you weren't involved? how is the easter forecast? >> ah it's looking good. doesn't get any better for early april. happy to serve up another hot forecast for your easter sunday and going to keep it going into early, into middle parts of next week. a great day to be outdoors. a little bit a slow start as far as temperatures this morning. we did have low clouds and fog roll in. you folks live along the chesapeake bay felt that. once the sun broke through we quickly climbed up through the 70s. officially today at international airport made it up to 73 degrees for our high temperature. actually one year ago to this date, we were dealing with same temperatures. so not uncommon tory. 70s in april, but we have seen a nice stretch of weather above average. now some areas did hit the 80-degree mark across the area, as expected. folks that lived away from the water, so the inland locations, southwest of d.c., out towards culpeper, manassas, low 80s there. fredericksburg virginia, topped out at 80 degrees today. current temperature there now 61. bethesda upper 70s coming in at 60 right now and another cool spot was along the coast line, ocean city, still not beach weather quite yet. only in the 50s there with the wind off of the water. current air temperatures generally in the low to mid 60s right now, oudout towards the virginia piedmont into the low 70s. elsewhere across the mid atlanta nick eastern u.s. still a lot of warmth situated out ahead of the next cold front, which is fast-approaching us right now. you can see the progression of the rain burke look at what happens, rain just kind of dies out as front moves into some dry air, most of the dynamics of that storm are well to the northwest of us, so we're just dealing with some clouds right now. the front really crossing the mountains as we speak and it's actually moving pretty qui so maybe this front can clear us by early tomorrow morning so we can see a perfect sunrise for the sunrise service tomorrow morning, we'll have to wait and find out. the future cast shows the bands overnight through tomorrow morning associated with that front. there could be a slight chance of a shower in the mountains but i think that everyone should be dry, increasing sunshine for your easter afternoon, and then on monday we'll see a mixture of sunshine and clouds but big story certainly will be the temperatures. overnight tomorrow morning, mostly cloudy, remains mild, 50 to 56 for the overnight low temperatures. light breeze out of west. and then for your easter sunday, a few early morning clouds and increasing sunshine throughout the afternoon. mid 70s to even upper 70s in the warm spots. because of all of the nice weather dealing with high pollen counts and the tree pollen very high so you allergy sufferers are certainly feeling it. all right, get let's go to the 7 7-day" forecast and talk about what's going on. upper 70s in the warn spots and then we've got monday, opening day nationals, it should be a great pitching matchup. john landon and roy halladay for the phillies. upper 70s, just a great afternoon at the ballpark. tuesday, more sunshine. i think that should be our warmest day in the lower 80s and then thursday could see the next chances of some rain showers and cool back down to the 60s by the end of next week. so not a bad forecast, craig, huh?
