Weve had a lot of rain in the witten area of h,rford county. Some of that rain is accumulating yeah. Up in herford county, more than 8 inches in the weve had heavy rain around here, but we havent had huge flood issues. A steady rain coming down across parts of the viewing area. Down to the south, samson county, hard net county over toward apex and carry, holly springs, and the northern half of the viewing area. So a bit of a wet start of the day. Temperatures are in the upper 60s and low 70s issues 70 in south his, 72 degrees in fayetteville. Clouds and rain out there this morning. Rocksboro getting a little break now, sort of in between rain showers. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s, 60s this morning with showers around. Some of you. Then some rain, maybe even a few rumbles of thunder this afternoon with temperatures in the upper 70s. So another day where we have to deal with the rain, but some drier air will work in as we head toward the weekend. And ill have more on that coming up in just a few minutes. Right now, with want to send it over to brian schrad,. A mess, amy. We have a truck that blocking that center lane of 40 westbound at lake wheeler road. Looks like its a disabled truck, and of there in the construction zone, we have only 3 lanes with which to work. We take one of those out, we really reduce the capacity. As you head away from the rock quarry road area, expect building delays this morning. If you can pick up 40 westbound from lake wheeler road, should be in good shape on the other side of those back ums. Well let you know when that clears up. A look at another accident. That are working to get this cleared up on the interchange out toward old lake forest road. We have a couple of left lanes blocked. Traffic is getting by on the right side, and also the turn lanes are open, but those two left through lanes are remain blocked as they get that crash cleared up. One more camera to show you. This is out on harrison avenue at i40 in kerry. The right lane of southbound harris avenue is blocked there at the i4 interchange. Look out for some activity on the ramp from 440 eastbound on to harrison th morning as they get this crash cleared up. Major routes are in pretty good shape. Typical delays through garner on 40 west. More Police Officers were hurt, and a protester was shot by another civilian, and that person is currently on life support. Its been a very busy and painful night in declared a state of emergency. Mikaya . Reporter thats right, bill and l,na. It has been a tense morning here in charlotte. I want to give you a look first at the amount of damage were talking about. What happened last night, it was a peaceful prayer vigil that turned into a violent protest as well as rioting and looting. What youre seeing is a boarded up window with glass shattered out front. This is the store where i do want to show you what happened inside of this store once those looters were able to get to these doors. Inside you can ceraxon the ground. See mannequins there thrown across the floor there, drinks inside, hangers everywhere. Just a complete mess. Of course the looting was not the only issue last night. One man was critically injured in last nights protest. City Officials Say police did not shoot the victim. Several reporters and people in attacked as police in riot gear linked arms and marched in the streets while firing tear gas. Four Police Officers were injured during the protest. After gathering in the up town area of the city, demonstrators then moved on to i277. That was right around midnight. Those blocking the highway then dispersed before 1 00 a. M. After police and fire officials arrived here on the scene. I want to it will you this is going to be a large clea 3 00 a. M. This morning, you could still smell the tear gas in the air. Of course with the damage here in front of Time Warner Cable arena as well as inside, we do know they will need all the Police Presence they can get. Bill and lena . All right. We spoke with some of those students about the issue and unareas happening in charlotte. I think thats one of the main reasons for protest and things like that. Productive way to do it. We have a decent chance of rain, basically any point in time, although its in the going to rain all day. And maybe a few thunderstorms. Heres 5 00 this evening, rain chances fairly high. Then they go down overnight tonight. Our rain chances drop off. This is tomorrow morning. Some showers will be possible. Notice these numbers are a lot lower than what we are going to see for today. And then tomorrow evening, perhaps a couple of spotty showers down to the south and east as that moisture continues to pull away from us and move offshore. Then saturday looks like well have a lot of sun. For today, the clouds are with us with temperatures in the 70s, 77 in for the High Temperature in fayetteville. We need the rain gear today. But certainly dealing with some wet roads out there this morning, causing some problems out there for some of the commute stall truck causing even bigger problems. 7 18. Were going to take you out to the fortified work zone. That truck still is blocking the center lane. You see Raleigh Police are on the scene as well as a couple of working to get that truck moved off to the ramp there, up the ramp to lake wheeler road. You see the problem here in the fortified work zone is we dont have a shoulder on either side, and the break down lane is a little farther down. Were seeing some big back ups. Just checked the latest season soar reading. That ride now up to about 30 minutes. You need to plan plenty of extra time. You might consider using 440 westbound as your alternate route. Lets take a look at our next capital boulevard, not too far from the 540 interchange. You can still see flashing lights there. That left crew lane remains blocked before you got to the old lake forest road intersection. We have 3 open lanes, turn lanes also are open on the southbound side of capital boulevard. Schools in North Hampton county and Halifax County are on a twohour delay today. Closed today. Theyve had 8 inches of rain there. Flooding has been a problem in eastern North Carolina. This river was all the way up to the back steps of this home. This area is not far from elizabeth city. A check of this dot camera not too far from very clemens. It shows how much water was substantial doubting on duck. At least three counties in the Northeast Corner of the state canceled school yesterday because of the flooding. It is very, very tense on the part of those who live here, residents, and the Law Enforcement agency. The reason is because of the rioting that came from a peaceful prayer vigil last night. I want to give you a live look now of some of the damage im talking about. This is at Time Warner Cable arena, and this is right in the heart of up town charlotte. What youre seeing is a window youre seeing glass shattered all over the ground as well as hangers and other portions of products. Just inside that window i can tell you is a store that has been ravaged, t shirts and shoes everywhere. Even outside on the ground, there are hangers as well. Its just been a tough night. Then, speaking with Highway Patrol and police, they do tell me they are so grateful governor mccorey has sent in the National Guard to make sure dont intensify. Heres some video that from the last night protest. We do know that one protester was critically injured in the protest. Police did not shoot that victim. However, right now, he is recovering in the hospital. We also know that four different Police Officers were injured as well. We are still working to find out their condition. At this time, because of all the unrest from the overnight protest, we do know several companies are today. Some of those being the bank of america as well as wells fargo, duke energy. And charlottes police of police is also appealing to protesters to exercise their rights, but when that behavior becomes violent, aggressive, and destructive, we have to act as we did. And im optimistic the result else of our action will be Charlotte Police to release all video recorded during that officerinvolved shooting. State naacp president William Barber called on the city double trance parent with any video. Barber will talk with community and city leaders today. Hes planning to hold a News Conference at 1 p. M. A teacher who stepped on an American Flag while teaching a First Amendment less son at a Fayetteville High School is scheduled to meet with the cumber land county superintendent today. Well, we had a real dry period of time, and now we just kind of been inundated with rain, which we needed. Some of you are actually dry this morning, but dont expect to stay dry. We will have periods overrain on and off through the entire day. We have some showers close to the benson area, to the north and west. We have showers east of fayetteville. And some of our northern communities also getting some light to moderate rainfall this morning. We are looking at temperatures in the 70s, 70 degrees in roanoke rapids, 71 in irwin with some rain falling there. Its 71 in kerry, and 71 in chapel hill. It will be a little bit of a dreary day. We have a lot of clouds in durham, gloomy conditions there with some wet roads. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s to around with some showers around, showers possible at lunch time with temperatures in the low 70s. Then some showers and a few isolated storms possibly later this afternoon with highs in the upper 70s. So a little bit unsettled today, but we do have some dry air moving in friday, which is good news, because the weekend is just about here. We will see some improvements just in time for the weekend. Latest readings said that trip from 440 out to wade avenue would take you only about 25 minutes. Thats a little longer than it typically takes, but not nearly as bad as the delays we saw earlier this morning when we had that truck blocking that center la and this is going to be out in kerry. Were following pretty big delays on u. S. 1 northbound. As you head out of kerry into raleigh, and because of that accident, we are starting to see pretty significant delays building on the northbound side of u. S. 1 as you head away from the 64 trion road interchange on out toward walnut street and i40. Build some extra time into your routine this morning so you can leave a little early running into this morning on u. S. 1 northbound. Southbound traffic looks fine. Youll notice the roads are wet. A lot of us are seeing those wet conditions, drizzly and misty. Just plan some extra time. Its real formal. We give so everything is free. Nice dinner . Nice dinner. Then we play some games, some jeopardy type games that just create their interest and create a buzz and let them have some fun and excitement. And they win a lot of gifts, a lot of raffle else, prizes, manicures, pedicures, hairs, spas, treatments, all the things that ladies like. Make them feel pampered and special . Just some very light activity in wake county. But things really calming down. But we do have some more rain expected later this afternoon. A quick check of the tropics just to show we have a couple systems were watching, but not depression karl, expected to strengthen to Tropical Storm today. We also have Tropical Storm lisa, which is expected to move to the north and not impact land as well. So were still in the middle of hurricane season. Well have to keep an eye on the tropics awhile. Nothing going to impact us anytime soon. Heres a look at our rdu skycam. Great start there, 72 at the airport, cloudy skies. Winds are out of the east, northeast, at 9 miles per hour. We started talking about this storm system 9 days ago. Its still down to our south, bringing in lots of moisture. So well have the same scenario today weve had the last couple days. Well have some periods of rain, a little dry time as well. Then High Pressure moves in from the north tomorrow. That will try to push some dry air our way, especially across the western half of our pull away from us. Well still have the chance of rain tomorrow for some. Show you that in just a moment. Today, some spotty showers certainly possible. 5 00 for the evening commute, some showers, maybe a few rumbles of thunder as well. Tonight, just a couple spotty showers. Nothing widespread expected overnight tonight. Tomorrow morning, the commute looking better. Well still have some clouds, maybe a couple light showers. Nothing as widespread as weve had the last couple mornings. Friday afternoon, evening, maybe a few showers in our eastern counties, but most especially the second half of our friday. It looks mainly dry, a 20 chance of rain with 80 degrees expected monday through wednesday. Some rain again out there this morning. The roads have been wet. Thats been causing some problems on the roads. We are looking at a lot of stall vehicles for some reason this morning. Take a look at this one. This is on 440 westbound right boulevard interchange, and here at 7 50, you see that right lane is blocked. People trying to squeeze around that, that light truck there apparently is stall out, and were seeing delays starting to build on 440 westbound as you head away from newburn avenue up toward capital boulevard.
