At least, she got out safely. The flooding in mississippi is just part of a larger problem across the south. Record flooding forced thousands from their homes in louisiana. The storm has already killed four people and more expected. Reporter they went to sleep dry and welcome to floodwater so high their house literally doubled as a boathouse. Flooding across the southeast has been deadly. Killing at least four including a driver who ignored a road. I can almost tell you what roads are open more so than i could tell you how many roads are closed. Reporter 8 inches of rain has fallen. 14 in the hardest hit areas. Sandbags are frantically being piled up as the slowmoving storm system crawls across the south bringing even more rain. We call this training. Pick up trains on a track. One after another right on top of each other. That is what were seeing over the past 48 hours. Reporter a state of emergency has been declared across a wide swath which with flash flood warnings across the region. Crews are working to rescue people stranded on rooftops, cars and even trees. But the biggest risk, the rainwater could top a levy. 3500 homes have been evacuated in case it does. Areas. The flooding to turn east. A potentially dangerous weekend ahead. Check this out. The fish appear to be carp. Look closely. More flooding is expected. They are continent. Just think of all of the fish. There is some good news. The system is beginning. We will take a look at that. The bostons could blend between march 18 and march 28 which is about five days ahead in the low 80s. Very warm again today. This could be the warmest march on record. Kind of crazy. Up in dc, they are wearing shorts and short sleeves. There is the satellite radar picture. Upr mosphere. We have been tracking this upperlevel low all week. Making its way to the southeast and that is where it sits. We have a train of moisture coming in off the gulf of mexico. The heaviest rain moving into louisiana and there is our ridge of High Pressure keeping all of this from plowing into the area. Also, it is we getting this system. This upperlevel low well kind of span the weekend and we are really not expecting a great deal of rain with this whole menagerie of cloud cover and rain tickets here. Lets take a look at the water issues. Warnings. We are all the way up into kentucky and Southern Illinois and also flat a Flash Flood Watch in illinois and missouri. That has shrunk. Its the dark shaded green under a Flash Flood Watch. Flash flood warnings are in red which encompass parts of arkansas, louisiana, mississippi. You can see that southern mississippi still has warnings. Heres the rainfall potential over the next five days. At least, for tomorrow and maybe into saturday, the heaviest rains will be confined. Seven 710 inches perhaps over mississippi. Greater than 2 inches across arkansas and by the time this system gets here, it will be in such a weakened state that we are not expecting a whole lot of rain sunday and monday. Maybe between a quarter of an inch. Maybe a half a an inch. We do have a cold front on the way. Partly to mostly cloudy and a very warm start. It is 71 right now. 67 to start your day so there is no need for jackets in the morning or afternoon. But there is a little bit of cooling coming as we head into the weekend. Call it a temperature adjustment because its not just cold air coming in. Tomorrow, a lot of cloud cover and a very small chance of rain. We did not even put any raindrops and the graphic. 79. Behind the front on saturday, its cooler. 60s. So you will feel a color change on saturday but the rain, they be a 10 chance. Rising to about 30 chance on sunday and monday.
