Were waiting for the waters to reseed. We dont have a good idea of what the idea is there. A lot of rural areas with long term closures. Theres not so many great options. You have to go way out of your go. The detour may be closed. Even if it looks dry the road may not be flooded but the ground beneath it may not be there in serious danger of collapse. It flooded princeville. It is likely to see major flooding through monday. Just a number of days left before were likely to see that drop in flood stage. And we head over the a little bit further downstream. We go down to greenville looking at major flooding at 19 feet. Sorry about lets try to fix that a little bit. Forecast crest at 25 feet so another foot. Its currently at 4 feet. Another foot before it hits the crest. Its likely to hit that this evening. Lets talk about whats happening around here with our weather and everythings looking nice around here, of course. We cannot to see beautiful conditions around our area and through the weekend and early next week. We have a cold front moving through today and that helps to cool things down but will end up brings us some cooler temperatures after the front comes through. So lets talk a little bit more about what some of those temperatures are and right now, looking at the temperature south its 44 and 57 degrees in fayetville. The area now to the west as the cold front for us is likely to help bring us the potential for cooler temperatures and of course, were also tracking hurricane nicole. Its a category three storm. They have another bit of a concern right now, a break in the retention wall of a cooling pond in the retired Duke Energy Power plant here in goldsboro yesterday. That is a manmade pond used to pull equipment i should be clear that is not a coal ash pond. We did check in with the Emergency Operation center about the issue. They tell us they are aware of it and do not believe it will be impacting any of the flooding area. One more tidbit, something i noted in the conversations with the mayor. He was quick to point out he was really moved by the compassion and generosity and how this community has come toughest days in a really long time. Theyre still under a lot of water. 12,000 outages there. 3,000, wayne counties have 2500 customers without power. Cumberland, duke and more counties have 1500 each i should say. Preliminary Damage Assessment will begin in cumberland today. There will be water distribution at three new sites. Residents can get water from 10 00 a. M. To 7 00 p. M. While supplies last, of course. Here are the distribution parts. Street and the Fire Department at 5039 clinton road. Road crews are working hard to repair the interstate. Says they hope they can have it all reopened by tomorrow. Theres many, many other roads that are going to take much longer to repair. D. O. T. Still trying to get a handle on how big the problem is. As the flooding reseeds, theyre inspecting the roads and finding plenty to go. Theyre finding areas and walked along the areas flooded. Some of them are minor areas that can be repaired quickly. Some of them are Major Repairs and basically all over the area. Theres a lot to do and its going get it all worked out. A number of months before the roads return to normal. Now, we have this wash out on i 40 and theres another new wash out to tell you about this morning and its going to cause big, big problems for travelers. Thank you so much, bryan, for that report. Lets talk about i95 closures. U. S. 301 and fayettville. Thats one spot on i95 thats closed including north bound between i74 and u. S. 301. Now, with those two closures, lets talk about alternate routes you can take. I would consider going through dunn and benson and you can take 242 to 301 to avoid much of the trouble. This is near the nursery road to i795. Now, here youre going to want to time. Theres some other places that are washed out as well. 301 and Johns Ton County and parker town road. This is south of four oaks which is washed out. 13 at Sampson County at the county line is also another trouble spot and then finally at 701 in Sampson County near south of clinton, thats washed out as well. With all of this in mind, crews are working around the clock to thank you very much. Making it more difficult for crews is that more roads are getting flooded because rivers are rising in different areas. This is just a mess for them. It really is. Fortunately, the weather looks good for the next several days. Were going to have nice, bright sunshine. You can see that here and our gardens are right behind.
