So far, the state Highway Patrol has responded to 571 collisions as of 10 00 this morning. Several interstates have seen lane closures due to ice and accidents or even complete closures in a couple of cases and four people have been killed so far in wrecks attributed to the icy conditions. Dot crews are concentrating first on the interstates and then on primary roads and secondary roads. Most secondary roads remain hazardous at this hour. I know i often get why didnt they did that road. They my have already sprayed that road but this is the unique carolina weather where sleet and rain and snow and then back to rain and that makes it a very difficult job for dot. These roads are still very slick and even though at the the wake county roads, people still need to use caution. On the way here, we did see a lot of drivers driving cautiously and a lot of people very nervous and driving with their hazards on and swerving. Already today since midnight, Raleigh Police have responded to 26 accidents and lets ago head and show you where the latest accident is. It was an ambulance that was coming down p street headed towards downtown. The we are told the ambulance swerved to avoid someone. That is when the city of raleigh snow plow hit that ambulance. There was no injuries, no damages. There was a patient in the back of that ambulance and that person had to be transferred over to another ambulance but we are told there were no injuries due to the crash and so, again, Raleigh Police have responded to about 26 accidents since midnight. No major injuries. Most of it was just property damage. But they said the best thing you can do, if you can, stay off these roads and stay home. So the roads here are decent in downtown roxboro and traffic is moving along. There are people out but traffic is going slowly. We didnt have too much of an issue getting up here from durham, u. S. 501. Mostly white as we cross the Person County line and Durham County is slow going but the roads there have been treated. No serious crashes to report in Person County.
