The only i think one of the downsides or one of the downsides is it doesnt rev up the Bernie Sanders folks. Theyll be disappointed and i think Hillary Clinton and tim kaine have to figure out how to create enthusiasm but in the end i think its a good pick. Hes a moderate not a liberal. Jon, let me ask you about another potential liability. Donald trump already making hay about it tweeting is it the same kaine that took hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts while governor of virginia and didnt get indicted while bob m. Did. Bob m. Is a reference to bob mcdonnell, a former republican governor who got indicted for taking improper gifts. Does kaine have an ethical liability . They will hammer him over and over about this. Look, what happened here is virginias got really lax laws about accepting gifts so he has disclosed accepting 160,000 in gifts but theyre not like rolex watches like in the case of the mcdonnell case. You know, somebody invited him down to the caribbean and he stayed in the house but these theres no law breaking, no allegations of any law breaking and, you know, hes got a pretty clean ethical record. He lashed out not at Hillary Clinton but at ted cruz. Lets take a listen. I like ted. Hes fine, again, i dont want his endorsement. If he gives it, i will not accept it just so you understand. If he gives it, i will not accept it. It wont matter. Smart politics or diversion . I tell you, any time donald trump starts with i like you and its fine, you know whats coming next which is a knife that youre about to get. I think this is just purely another example of Donald Trumps inability to stay disciplined and stay in a structure. He gave a teleprompted speech that a long while, very direct to camera. Very well done for a lot of the republicans and then he goes off on this diversion, but one thing we learned about donald trump, it doesnt seem to matter. He seems to be able to do these things and stay very tight in a very competitive race with Hillary Clinton. Time and time again it doesnt seem to matter. Tell us about these emails that were released by wikileaks, hundreds and thousands of emails with democratic officials making fun of the president ial run of Bernie Sanders. German authorities this morning with new details on the young man who opened fire at the Olympia Shopping Center on friday evening. They now say all signs point to the 18yearold germaniranian born in munich as being the lone attacker who killed himself after murdering nine others. Most of them teenagers. He was a student and the police say there is no evidence to connect him to isis or any other islamic extremist group. This morning the police raiding the apartment where the teen is believed to have lived with his parents. In his room articles in a book about school shootings. Just before 6 00 p. M. On friday outside a mcdonalds at the shopping center, he draws his weapon, a pistol, and starts firing seemingly randomly on passersby. Then in another clip, the suspect paces the rooftop of a parking garage. He then raises his gun, appears to take aim and fire. There were people running towards us. They were panicking. They were in shock. Reporter the city quickly put on lockdown as heavily armed police swarmed and sealed off the area around athe shopping center. Parents holding their children close. Families running through the streets. People told to keep their hands in the air as they were evacuated. Shattered car windows and a body covered in a sheet as paramedics arrived on the scene to treat the wounded. The citys Public Transportation system shut down. Residents told to stay in their homes because of initial fears that there were three gunmen would had escaped. People were confused. Nobody knew what was actually going on. Reporter this horrific attack coming on the heels of another just days ago in bavaria when a 17yearold afghan stabbed passengers on a train with an ax and knife, apparently inspired by isis and the at least 84 dead in the bastille day attack in the french city of nice, a 31yearold tunisian mowing people down in a refrigerator truck in an attack claimed by isis. Back in munich, a fuller picture but the exact motive for what drove the attacker to kill so many in cold blood is still unclear. Since there appears to be no political motive, the terror investigation has been shut down as the city tries to get back on its feet. And a Washington State man wanted for the murder of his nextdoor neighbors was captured in mexico. John reed is his name and he was taken into custody friday in the town of sonora last seen in april when he was suspected of killing Patrick Shunn and his wife Monique Patenaude reportedly over a property dispute. Reed is now jailed waiting for extradition to Washington State. The first of three officers killed in that targeted attack in baton rouge, louisiana, last weekend has been laid to rest. Thousands turning out for the funeral of Rookie Police officer Matthew Gerald who had joined the force earlier this year after serving in the military including three tours of duty in iraq. Funerals for the other two slain baton rouge officers will be held today and on monday.
