And the fbi director under fire for making this public so close to an election. All of this could shake up a close race for the white house. The new poll shows the candidates one poll apart. Team coverage this morning starting with Pierre Thomas in washington. Good morning, pierre. Reporter good morning, george. The fbi director is in the midst of a political cat fire storm under searing attack now under intense pressure to say whether the batch of emails are significant or not. This morning, armed with a court order, fbi agents are set to begin an intensive effort to go through thousands of emails sources say are connected to huma abedin, one of Hillary Clintons closest confidants. These emails were discovered while the fbi was investigating abedins estranged husband, anthony weern. The fbi wants to know if the emails contain classified information and if theyre connected to secretary clintons private server. A barrage of attacks unleashed by officials blind sided by the announcements. Democrats took aim. In july, the director said no reasonable prosecutor would move forward. Theres nothing we have been shown, nothing the director has said to alter that conclusion. Reporter Senate Minority leader harry reid issued a pliserring attack. Writing he regretted working to get comey confirmed. I now see that i was wrong. Last night, abc news obtained a letter pend by former attorney general eric holder and dozens of other former prosecutors and highranking officials, including republicans, criticizing comey. Many of us have worked with director comey. All of us respect him. His unprecedented decision to publicky comment on evidence that may be part of an ongoing inquiry leaves us astonished and perplexed. I have talked to fbi agents, former fbi agents, prosecutor, former prosecutors who have skrachd their heads about how the investigation was conducted and the conclusion reached 3 1 2 months ago to not indict. Reporter in the clinton case, comey has worked with unpresence dented measures. There is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very septs active highly classified information. Reporter Justice Department official had as vised against alerting congress, citing the policy of not talking about Ongoing Investigation and not doing anything that would be seen as influencing an election in the final days. One of the other things were learning is they knew about these emails several week before they fwreefd fbi director. Reporter a source says there was a lot of back and forth among agents about how to best proceed. And because of that vacuum, hes under pressure to mutt out more information closer to an election as they go through the emails. I dont expect hell do that. I dont expeekt well hear anything else from james comey. Its unlikely this is going to lead to any kind of criminal indictment. Theyre looking at these new emails. Theyre not revisiting the old investigation. Theyre not looking back and saying, did we get it right the firts time . This is just a question of, is there something new that will surpass that very high Legal Standard which is intentional mishandling of classified information. Its easy to run computer programs to determine if these were duplicates. If they can determine that quickly, wouldnt he be obligated to put that out . Yes. I would expect him to Say Something if those are emails they have already seen. If they have to go through all of these, i dont expect well hear anything. A suspect on the run for days accused of killing two family members, shooting Police Officers, livestreaming his escape, hes now dead. After a shootout with police overnight. Steve osunsami has the dramatic details. Reporter he was running from the law for a week. But the long arm of authorities caught up with 38yearold Michael Vance late sunday night in western oklahoma. The 38yearold refused to give up and died in a shootout with police. About 130 miles northwest of oklahoma city. Police had been searching for him since october 23rd. He was first accuse of shooting two Police Officers and car jacking a couple as he fled. He shot another woman in the thigh and drove eight miles to a home where police say he brutally killed two family members. What frustrated police more was when he went to social media to brag about the story. It hurts. Reporter he livestreamed his getaway. Wow, that really hurt, see, im bleeding where the police shot me. Reporter authorities caught up with vance sunday morning when Police Spotted him leaving the camp site. A county sheriff pulled him over at 9 30 p. M. They traded bullets. Vance escaped that shootout but was shot by the Highway Patrol 30 minutes later. A Police Officer was shot in the shoulder in the shootout. Those injuries are not lifethreatening. Thats right. A flight about to take off from ft. Lauderdale was evacuated because of a bomb scare. A passenger reportedly saw messages on the phones of two other passengers about bombs. We are the aircraft that had the bomb threat. We would like to declare an emergency. Police came on board, took the two men off, evacuated the plane. The plane was searched. Nothing was found. Throttled up. The pilot hears a bump. It was the right engine. And in the engine, youre compressing the air to explode it with fuel. And what happened was that the engine let go. A part in the compression session blew up. Its called an uncontained failure. Parts hit everywhere. One part hit 3,000 feet away, another hangar. With the fire and the flames, everybody is coming out. The compress sant part was the problem. The question is, the good news i would say is look what happened. You had a plane, that wing has a fuel tank in it. Thats where the fire and flames came after the engine blew. Everybody got out. Thats the good news. You have an ingeneral failure, everybody got out with aboutinjuries. That was powerful. It was. The engine is built if you have a failure lying that, most of the parts are supposed to stay n inside. An uncontained tail your, they fly everywhere. Very fortunate no one was hurt. As the Investigation Continues to go forward, what will the ntsb being looing at and are there worries about other planes with this engine having the same problem h the future . Yeah, its not just American Airlines thats worried about this. Its a worry about the entire fleet. Is there something wrong with the part that failed in that specific engine . Thats what they want to know. If thats the case, it will be a change on all the engines on all the aircraft. Next up, a new twist in the jonbenet twist. New report is questioning the dna evidence that exonerated the Ramsey Family in 2008. Sunny is here. What can you tell us . The entire Ramsey Family was excluded as suspects based on dna evidence found at the scene. That dna evidence pointed to an unknown male suspect. Someone unrelated to the family. Then the former d.
