It was one of the most bizarre days in american politics and started with a fight over the assassination of jfk and it ended with the chair of the rnc crowning a former reality star and billionaire the new leader of the Republican Party. Before the votes were even counted, cruz describing trump as a morally corrupt madman. This man is a pathological liar. He doesnt know the difference between truth and lies. Reporter the texas senator unleashing on his onetime friend after trump cited a National Enquirer story linking cruzs father to Lee Harvey Oswald. How would you sum up what Trumps Republican Party stands for and what specific steps are you going to take to unify the party behind you. Well, i think more than anything else well have great heart. Well take care of people and we have to we have people that are in desperate need of help but well take care of our economy and jobs and not make horrible trade deals like weve been witnessing over the years over many years george. People havent had wage increase, some people, in 18 years to 20 years effective wage increases and well get that all turned around. Lets talk about unifying the party behind you. You had kind words yesterday for ted cruz but do you owe his father an apology saying he was with Lee Harvey Oswald before jfks assassination. What i was referring to was a picture reported and in a magazine and i think they didnt deny it. I dont think anybody denied it. I dont know what it was exactly but it was a major story and a major publication and it was picked up by many other it was the national enchoir and even the expert who cited it wasnt sure it was mr. Cruz. It gave you o. J. Simpson and gave you many, many things. You cant knock the National Enquirer. Its brought many things to light not all pleasant, the fact it was a cover story on the National Enquirer picked up by many other people and magazines and periodicals and newspapers and all i did was refer to it. No apology . Im just referring to an aarticle that appeared. It has nothing to do with me and the father was very active in the campaign and said nasty things about me in the morning and it was reported and it wasnt nice what he said about me and i just referred him to articles that were in various periodicals. Lets talk about other steps you might take to unify the party including your choice for Vice President. Will your vpal choice definitely be a republican. Yes, thats true. Will it be an elected official. Most likely and probably a person with political experience because i mean while ive been in the world of politics all my life, the business, i will handle so well will bring our jobs back and bring our economy back but i do want people to i would like to have somebody that could truly be good with respect to dealing with the senate, dealing with congress, getting legislation passed. Working toward something where were not signing executive orders every three days like president obama does. Sounds like you have a name in mind. Not a name in mind but i do like the thrill sphere. You have the military sphere, you have the political sphere and business. Well, the twist i handle. I think im going to be very, very good on the military to be honest with you. I think that will be the hidden strength and i think probably i would like to go with somebody with great political experience. Meantime, youre looking at Hillary Clinton as your most likely opponent in november. New poll out from cnn shows shes leading you 54 to 41 . Youre holding your own with men but shes crushing you with women and minorities. How do you turn that around . Well, rasmussen just came out with a poll highly respected and im leading her by two points, 41 to 39 so youll have polls all over but rasmussen and other one came out where were tied and i havent started yet. George, there were 17 people that i had to win against and now its going to be hillary, so well see what happens. I mean, its going to be i think a very interesting race. She says shell take aim at your qualifications to be commander in chief. Whats your target in her. She has poor judgment and Bernie Sanders said it. I took it right out of his playbook. He said she has poor judgment. He also said shes not qualified. Thatsing about a lot thats going a long way but more importantly shes got poor judgment. If you look at the email scandals and all of the bad decisions shes made with lib yoo, whether its benghazi, whether its so many other things, you look back at whats happened during the administration. Finally, quick question about how youll finance the campaign. You havent had to spend too much money so far. So what about Going Forward . Are you going to be raising money with the Republican Party or selffinancing or public financing. So far ive spent my own money. I spent i think its listed as 44 million and taken small contributions. We will probably take small contributions. Well take the limits, i dont want big contributions now. People can contribute to the party. There will be a unification, no question about it. But im really looking at small contribution, not the big ones. This win gives Bernie Sanders the psychological boost he needs to keep going but it was not enough to cut into Hillary Clintons lead and this morning her sights are set on november. Ahead of that big indiana win, Bernie Sanders wife jane joining him on stage to deliver the early results. Were going up. Were going to win. Reporter hes not just vowing to fight the fight but coming out swinging. Secretary clinton thinks that this campaign is over. Ive got some bad news for her. Reporter sanders says hes going all the way and theres no stopping him. I think we can pull off one of the great political upsets in the history of the United States. Reporter but even with that Hoosier State victory, the math is a different story. It will still be impossible for sanders to win enough pledge delegates to clinch the nomination. Hes now planning for a contested convention. I do not deny it for one second that we have an uphill battle in front of us. Reporter Hillary Clinton thinks she has a path to victory too by taking on donald trump. We cannot allow ourselves to be divided against one another. To be set against one another. To have scapegetting and shaming and blaming and insulting. Reporter she took to twitter overnight calling him the presumptive gop nominee. Telling her supporters, chip in now if you agree we cant let him become president. And not just that her Campaign Chairman overnight sent out a statement calling donald trump, quote, simply too big a risk. This is very much a sign of the general election fight to come, robin. If you look on the republican side it looks like a clean sweep for donald trump. There are still 6 delegates to be allocated but so far he has 51. The others are simply locked out. That means he is closing in on the delegates he needs to clinch well on the way to doing it before the convention on the democratic side. Hillary clinton got beaten by Bernie Sanders but, look, he only got six more delegates than she did so she is getting very close to clinching there. It looks, the bottom line, like we are headed toward a trump clinton general election. How does that matchup look. Because of demographic changes in the country we are the democrats begin with a significant advantage here. Look at this man. This was put together by my friend at the washington post. The states in in dark blue voted democrat aall of the last six president ial elections. If Hillary Clinton hangs on to those all she needs to do is win the state of florida. Sanders has to put in place states like his home state of new york, pennsylvania and michigan, but theres no question that Hillary Clinton goes into this as the clear frontrunner. Well, thats the interesting thing. You know, we dont know and i think the fascinating thing about donald trump, george, is you and i have talked about. Almost as if this is out of greek mythology, the development of donald trump where the titans of the gop establishment gave birth to donald trump through their actions and inactions and now the son of a titan has slain his father like z. Us and rules over mt. Olympus now headed to an epic battle against Hillary Clinton so he starts off at a series disadvantage but i dont think we can understand Donald Trumps ability in this sphere. Olympus but i tell you this, george, many of the Top Republican leaders over the year, governors, former governors including former president ial nominees for the republicans like mitt romney will not be supporting donald trump. I think its still a possibility but the republicans that are so antitrump they dont want to support him and still dont want to support Hillary Clinton have to figure it out. A man suspected of spraying chemical toxins on food is now arrested by the fbi. Reporter Pierre Thomas with the latest. Reporter they raced to see if anyone got seriously ill from a low scale chemical attack to contaminate food, the fbi believes the man in this photograph went to at least three Grocery Stores in ann arbor, michigan, whole foods, meijer and plum market spraying produce with hand cleaner, water and tomcat mice poison, its key ingredient is one that prevents the blood from clotting and irritates the skin. Those store targeted in the last two weeks and according to the fbi, the suspect visited several other Grocery Stores in the ann arbor area in the last few months and theyre determining if any other stores were victimized. Hes been in a couple of other Grocery Store, he admitted so we have notified them. Princes hometown paper reporting medical help was called in for the musician before he died to help with an addiction to painkillers but when that addiction specialist arrived after an all night flight he was too late. Howard cornfeld rushed his son andrew on a redeye from San Francisco to minneapolis to treat the star the night before his death. Speaking to william mausey, the paper reports arrived at 9 30 a. M. But his entourage could not find him. Princes body found in an elevator a few minutes later. He said cornfeld called 911 and telling 91 were in minneapolis, minnesota, and we are at the home of prince. The people are just disstrauss. We saw in gios piece about the clothing that is effective to repel mosquitoes. How effective is this . So, this this clothing feels like a regular shirt. Soaked in a very good mosquito repellent but this is pretty expensive. I wouldnt use it. I sometimes use it if im going on assignment in the jungle or the Health Department says theres a lot of zika going around town or you can spray your own clothes with it. But i dont think you need to go here. New york city is the concrete jungle. So you may want to get you some of that. As we approach summer month, sunscreen and repellent important. Which one do you put on first. Repellents work by odor so put your sunscreen on first and repellent on top. If you do it the other way around, the mosquitoes wont smell it the same way and wont be effective. When you reapply your sunscreen you need to reapply that on top. All right, well, dr. A shocking new study revealing around 47 million unnecessary prescriptions are given out each year and all that overprescribing could do more harm than good. Dr. Besser is back with that. I say shocking. Is it really shocking . I think weve known this for some time. Weve known it but i still find this shocking. The researchers looked at the antibiotic prescribing in 2010 2011 and found that 154 million visits, there was an antibiotic predescription, but 30 of those prescriptions were forconditions where antibiotics dont work or only work sometimes. And the main ones were sinus infections, ear infections, throat infections and bronchitis where antibiotics sometimes work but arent the way to go. The major concerny. The big concern were seeing this big rise in antibiotic resistant infections so when you take one when its not giving you any benefit you risk that the next time you take that antibiotic, its not going to work for you. Plus, youre at rick for the side effects, rashes and diarrhea and for women yeast infections without any hope of benefit from that. What can be done, rich, to change this alarming and disturbing trend. You know, i hope doctors listen to this and hear this and say, okay, im going to do better. But theres something we can all do and when you go to the doctor or when people bring their children to the doctor, instead of asking for an antibiotic, say, what can i do to feel better faster . Because theres studies that show if you ask for an antibiotic a doctor is more likely to give it to you even if its not indicated.
