From a tree thats something thats been rehearsed and well known. Everybody on that bus was singing this chant proudly and confidently. Reporter some students tell abc news the chant is part of this fraternitys national legacy. They boast 15,000 members and they deny that and immediately closed the uo chapter. Its not sanctioned endorsed or otherwise a national song. This dark cloud is hanging over the organization and its sad because this is absolutely not what sae is about. Reporter the University President says any students identified on the tape may be expelled. I think its time for all of us all across america to step up and show zero tolerance when were dealing with racist. Reporter the outrage reverberating outside campus. This football recruit who committed to play there says not now. But closing down an entire house based on the actions of a few freshmen seems like an overreaction to some. Now to that secret government testing to take down drones. The secret service is conducting mysterious flights in the middle of the night looking for ways to knock them out of the sky. Abcs Pierre Thomas is in washington with the latest on all that for us. Good morning pierre. Reporter good morning, robin. As you know drones have been showing up everywhere and a recent white house incurse by a drone made it clear they could be a potential threat so now the secret service is taking action. The secret service is launching a series of overnight training exercises to cope with the growing new threat of drones. The testing which would be conducted in the wee overnight hours involves using a number of methods to take drones out of the sky including technology that would turn them off. The concerns intensified a few weeks ago when this drone penetrated the white house perimeter and crashed on to the north lawn. Sources say drones are potential threats for carrying explosives but also to spy on white house activities. In a recent exclusive interview with the new secret Service Director he made it clear to me that the recent drone events have gotten everyones attention including the president of the United States. And i personally briefed the president on the events of that day and he had very specific questions and was very concerned as he should be. Technology changes and were working with the private industry as well that those that are producing these drones and its a global issue. Also in washington the white house hitting back hard at republican senators who wrote directly to iranian leaders warning them a nuclear deal would not last. Abcs jon karl is at the white house and, jon, the president said these authorities are making common cause with iranian hardliners and the Vice President went further and stopped just short of calling it treason. Reporter he called it dangerous saying its beneath the dignity of the congress to try to undermine the president as he conducts foreign policy. I spoke to one of the primary authors of the letter, he is defending it. Heres what he had to say. Isnt it the job of the president of the United States to negotiate with foreign governments. The foreign minister saying it seems that the authors not only do not understand International Law but are not fully cognizant of the nuances of their own constitution when it comes to the president ial powers in the conduct of foreign policy. Terrifying new video was played in court on monday as more victims delivered emotional testimony as we learn how little emotions Dzhokhar Tsarnaev displayed right after he launched the attack. The defense is trying to paint Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as a misguided youth who was just following the footsteps of his older brother but prosecutors say the video youre about to see shows a coldblooded killer someone who had no regard for the innocent men, women, even children in his path of terror because he was stands right next to them. The video is chilling. Alleged Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev caught on tape launching his attack. Watch this newly released video played in court on monday tsarnaev in the white hat appears to pick a spot in the crowd, slips off his backpack believed to be holding the Pressure Cooker bomb lingers, uses his cell phone, then seconds later at 2 49 p. Jurors also seen these new images and hearing from witnesses like Jessica Kenski testifying from her wheelchair monday saying she was so in shock after the blast she was un unaware of what was happening until someone screamed maam, youre on fire. Jurors also hearing from one of the heros from that day, matthew patterson, a Critical Care paramedic who was off duty during the bombings but jumped into action saving the life of 6yearold jane richard who lost a leg and her older brother, martin in the attack. I testified because i believe that jane janes voice needs to be heard and the damage that was done to her physically emotionally and for the rest of her life. Reporter tsarnaev in court for the testimonies slouching in his chair appearing uninterested. Hes pleaded not guilty to 30 counts against him including murder and the use of a weapon of mass destruction. And though he used his personal twitter account to quote rappers like jay z and eminem prosecutor prosecutors reveal he had another twitter account under an alias where he quoted Anwar Al Awlaki a radical muslim cleric also a member of al qaeda. George. Thanks very much. We turn to another major train accident the third in a month. This one in North Carolina. Where an amtrak train collided with i tractor trailer injuring dozens. That is the cargo of prefabricated structures on a truck that got stuck on the track. Its off the tracks. The amtrak cars are gone. The crossing is reopened. But serious questions remain this morning. Another driver saw it coming. Oh, my god. Oh, my god an amtrak train slamming that a tractor trailer and its tarp covered cargo. Engine on the side tore to pieces back car and the first coach on the ground. Reporter on board 230 people the 911 calls pour in. Amtrak is derailed. Oh my god. Reporter the engine and two of the seven cars jumped the tracks. It was horrific. I mean the ground shook, our vehicle shook. The train just is like an abrupt stop all of a sudden. That was it. Just zhoom. All you hear was steel and metal. Reporter one out of every four people on board taken by ambulance or bus to the hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries. The truck was trying to turn right after the crossing but was too long. Escorted by a state trooper, the driver backed up to try and make that turn again when the signal started. The state police say there was no time to warn the rail line or amtrak. This is the third serious Passenger Rail accident in just over a month. Two weeks ago a truck on the tracks in california and last month a metro north train stuck an suv in new york. Both the driver and six passengers were killed. But here in North Carolina a happy reunion after a very scary day. Now, there is some discrepancy how long that truck was stuck on the tracks. Witnesses say 15 to 20 minutes, the state patrol says it was just a matter of minutes of there is a sign that says if there is an emergency call. No call was made george. New York City Police have arrested a man they say pointed a laser at aircraft taking off and landing at laguardia airport. This is the laser officers recovered. Three piles suffered eye injuries including two officers flying a police helicopter. Laser attacks are growing problems with nearly 4,000 reported last year alone. The fbi has set up a special task force to investigate them. Also breaking overnight two olympic medalists among the victims of a deadly crash during the filming of a reality show on these two helicopters that apparently collided in argentina while taping a popular european tv show. The Olympic Committee saying tremendous champions and friends have gone. Well the u. S. Ambassador to south korea was released from the hospital this morning after a terrifying knife attack. Ambassador mark lippert was greeted by hundreds of supporters in seoul today. He told a News Conference it was a scary incident but he feels, quote, pretty darned good. Lippert was slashed in the face and arm by an antiamerican activist. A security review is now under way. A developing story from houston. The citys busy shipping chapel has been closed after a collision in the fog. One ship was carrying a toxic highly flammable chemical. Some of it leaked. Nearby residents have been told to stay indoors as a precaution. And in los angeles, dramatic video captured the moment firefighters responded to this burning building. Flames pouring out the door. Remember this is a guy who the local authorities believe is connected to a 1982 murder of his wife the 2000 murder of his friend to cover up the 1982 murder and then charged in 2001 in the case that he of course was acquitted in. So the fact that he even cooperated in this is astounding and so its not that surprising to me that now that they have durst on camera and they have renewed attention to this case that theyve got themselves some new evidence and robert durst could find himself in some big trouble. Got that letter where the handwriting may match. Absolutely and that becomes a crucial piece of evidence. I mean theyve been lacking that one thing to link him. Theyve always suspected it. They felt it in their guts. They said to themself wait a second. How could it be anything else . If they can link that letter back to durst, theyve got a crucial piece of evidence. Now, the problem here is that handwriting analysis tends to be as much art as it is science. And so you can certainly get someone on the other side to say, yes, well these things do look similar and the misspelling is similar. There are other reasons to question. Just real quickly he can be tried again he can be tried for the killing of the wifes disappearance or the friend but not tried again any case where he hasnt already been tried they could charge him for. You and you are both parents and always spend time on social media and parents want to know how much the selfie and for young people to post just about every single thing they do. Researchers have a hard time making a connection to say, hey, social media causes you to be a narcissist but it certainly develops narcissistic tendencies. You can cultivate and manipulate your image telling people exactly what you want them to think of you as. How much time do people spend on a profile picture, the glamour shot. We will re take 12 selfies before we get it right to post one. Now our selfworth is wrapped up in what others think of us versus what we think of ourselves and goes back to the selfesteem how many likes jo. How many followers. People are obsessed with getting that you know those approvals from the outside world. Thats not necessarily a good thing. We want them to feel good from a different place, intrinsic place. Accomplishments, not just what we look like. There are lots of things parents can do without constantly praising. Number one, you should know your child. You know not every kid needs the same amount of praise. You know if you have a type a kid that thinks theyre the bomb they dont need as much as your shy, timid kid and use praise widely. Dont praise everything. They should get a sense of what they really do well. Tell them when they do things wrong too. Exactly. Not necessarily whatever talents you have. We got to go to the real von trapp house and see the way the real maria walked up to that gate in her funny outfit. Yes. This was the first time you were able to go. I never saw the original villa because for the movie, we created a slightly more a slightly bigger house and that countryside. And the schedule was simply deathdefying up every morning so early working so late but there was never any time to go do what we did as tourists and its a wonderful, wonderful occasion. How long does it run . It is going to run for an hour. Its going to be next wednesday, not tomorrow. But the next wednesday night. Wow. For an hour. So come with us to the sound of music and its amazing. All i can say if this is any indication of what well see in that special, were going to be in great hands. How was it for you emotionally to go back to these iconic places . It was kind of i thought i might be nostalgic or sad but in fact it was very affirming in some strange way. I mean, it hasnt changed that much. But the big difference is that the tourism is based on mozart and soupdz. Everywhere you go you see the tour advertised plaster add cross the buses. That was never there when we were filming. People come and recreate the scene so youre in austriaing looking around and families are recreating all the scenes. I have to say that beautiful cathedral, that church is so gorgeous. It really. It was a wonderful moment and so was the moment when were doing do, re mi. You have to see because at one point julie turns to me and says, youre no help at all. Did i really . You did. And you were so i kept confusing so la. You were on the wrong steps and everything. Thats diane. She gets an a for effort. A week from from tomorrow night. The untold story. It is untold story and we have great scenes. We have home movies. We have real scenes of what was really happening in all of the movies. Some are quite moving and beautiful. They are. Yeah then lots and lots of memories and reminisce senses. A love story as you said at every level. She made it so. You breezed into town and we never stopped working and we never stopped laughing. We didnt. So moving. I hope everyone will join us. No i think to everyones annoyance i stay in the accent when im working for the film just to make sure that the scottish notes dont slip through. How was it for you to play the to go from robb stark to prince charming . Agreed. Quite different here although there is as we all know in the tale there are tears and theres a lot of joy but Kenneth Branagh wanted to give this a modern twist. The first time i destroyed two practice dresses it was quite a lot of rips. There were a lot of rips we pieced it back together i think. We practiced a lot so on the day we could focus on the acting and not think about our feet so much. He did amazing. Sort of ice skate so that he wouldnt step on it and sandy powell was in the corner of the room the designer dont touch it. Well you did beautifully. I love the glass slipper. Weve always been a package, two girls, two boys but he lived so courageously and so were going to continue that. Was there something that surprised you when you read the book . I was surprised at how much fight he had. The things that stayed in his head when people told him he couldnt do something. I diddant know how much he internalized, you know what that person told me no and im going to show them but then also the maturity of i have to let that one go and just move forward. We all know the speech that has been played over and over again at jimmy v. And how he said about cancer and its how you live. That was a part that was my favorite part of the whole speech. You beat cancer not only how you live why you live but the manner in which you live the next part was the most important and mandate to me was go live so whether cancer or whatever it is youre dealing with what he showed everybody was go live. Thats exactly what he was doing so how did your baby brother beat cancer by how he lived . Nothing about stuarts life that didnt have to change changed. Cancer was so secondary in his daytoday activity we never saw how internalized it was. Who inspired stu . Dad . Dad. Dad. And mom. I would say both our parents. Yes. The thing about dad, integrity, truth, justice, fairness. Mom, emotion, honesty, heart. Such a combination of those two. So when people pick up this book what is it that you want them to walk away knowing about your brother and knowing maybe something more about themselves . That no matter what youre facing cancer anything else have a tenacity and dont give up. And above all he wants people to remember him for being a great dad. Thats it. Yeah. Oh my gosh. Tay lahr it was palpable for him that he be able to touch them talk to them feel them any and everything with them was important to him. Yes. Were going to go stealth. Yeah. What is that. Wherever we went anywhere stuart would say lets go stealth and we would pretend to be commandos on the street hiding behind cars and street posts and guiding each other forwards to and it was just fun. It was grownups being children. I think stuart was silly. I mean thats the thing that people dont know. He was very silly. Always always fun and games. Always. Steven cynthia, susan, our love to you.
