Its mostly in the gore point but penndot out there with the arrow board and traffics really jammed on 422 eastbound at 23 as you head towards king of prussia youre dealing with this Early Morning accident. Yesterday we had a ton of accidents on the highways and roads were dry then. Now, with last nights storm we have roads a bit damp in spots. Not a lot of standing water but nonetheless, some issues to be mindful of. Heres one. We had some downed wires on Baltimore Pike near cheney road in concorde township. They were just able to clear those wires but i think you might get some debris or downed tree limbs as youre traveling around. We have a water main break here in lower providence township on egypt road at south trooper road. Thats blocking one lane so traffics getting by and malfunctioning traffic lights on 206 at province line road here in Lawrence Township and theres no cross traffic allowed here so be careful when youre headed there matt. Reporter matt, and the work continues here this morning. Pse g had to cut power to this house earlier. Now restoration crews are working to shore up a wall on that side of the home that gave way during the storm. A resident in this gloucester township home was asleep on this bed when this basement wall collapsed amid the heavy rain storms overnight. Residents called 911 around 2 00 a. M. Police and firefighters responded. A Collapse Rescue Team was called in as a precaution. Ground water had seeped into the foundation and washed away the outside of the wall. All of the weight from the mud collapsed the wall in. Everyone got out safely on their own. In willingboro, the investigation is under way into whether a fire at a vacant home was storm related. Crews were called out to the unit block of eagle lane shortly after 1 00 a. M. Flames were shooting from one side of the house. Dozens of firefighters worked to contain that blaze. In lower merion, a tree came crashing down around 11 00 p. M. Completely blocking city avenue near 66th street. For the next several hours, officers were turning around traffic at the site until public works could arrive and remove the tree. The road opened back up around 1 30 a. M. And no one was hurt in this gloucester township home but understandably this family is very shaken up. The work and the cleanup continues here today as it does across the area. It happened just before 11 00 in the 900 block of Clifford Brown walk. Dozens of shell casings were found scattered on the sidewalk. Police say several bullets ricocheted off a tree hitting a 53yearold woman in the neck. A 23yearold man also suffered graze wounds. Both are in nearby hospitals. Authorities say its still not clear how many people were actually firing the guns. And at 6 05 we are working to find out when the suspect arrested for murdering a man in haverford township will be extradited back to our area. U. S. Marshals captured 24yearold Derek Rollins yesterday afternoon in decatur georgia. Officials say rollins killed 29yearold john lee at an apartment complex on july 29th. And police say rollins was also wanted for a shooting earlier that same day in the Overbrook Park section of philadelphia. No one was hurt in that incident. The ntsb hopes to interview the operator of the septa train that smashed into a parked train in upper darby yesterday. The accident happened just after midnight at the 69th street terminal. 33 people were injured including the train operator. Most passengers suffered minor injuries. Four people required observation at trauma centers. Fall out my chair, the glass window shattered and i hit my head. Everybody was on the floor. Reports indicate the norristown high speed train had trouble stopping at two previous stops and was arriving at 69th street when it rammed into an empty parked train. Video from on board the train has been turned over to federal authorities. Information on a Funeral Service for new jersey state senator jim whelan has not been released yet. The democrat who also served as the mayor of Atlantic City from 1990 to 2001 died yesterday. Governor Chris Christie called whelans passing sudden and unexpected. He released a Statement Last night saying the politician was a forthright and honest leader whose word was his bond. Whelan posted on facebook just last month that he had surgery to remove cancer from his kidney. He was later readmitted for complications from blood thinners. Jim whelan was 68 years old. Happening today, College Freshmen are getting ready to start the next chapter at philadelphias two largest universities. Both students at temple and the university of pennsylvania are moving into their dorms today. If youre driving around in these green areas just slow it down and turn around if you happen to see a little flooding. It doesnt look like its going to be around that much longer. In terms additional rain theres not much of that either. A little sprinkle or shower here or there but it looks like we are in the process of drying out as we go through the next several hours and what we still have around isnt that much. 76 degrees in philadelphia, 71 in allentown and reading right now, 74 in wilmington and trenton. 77 in cape may. Youre jammed from egypt road all the way to the pennsylvania turnpike because weve got an accident on 422 eastbound at 23 involving a car and a truck and although its mostly in the gore point its creating huge delays. Give yourself extra time taking 422. A water main break over here in lower providence township on egypt road. They shut the water off, they cleared the scene so traffics moving better right there in lower providence township. But in lower merion here weve got a new report of a downed tree on welsh terrace at hazel hurts avenue. I think as people are waking up and seeing some of the storm damage well get more and more reports of these. It happened around midnight. This area is prone to flooding and with a lot of rain in a short period of time, the water pooled quickly. At least two drivers coming off of the i95 ramp onto broad drove into several feet of water. At least one needed to be towed. No one was hurt. And the work continues here this morning. Katherine, thank you. And new this morning the search is on for the gunman who ambushed a man who was riding his bike. This happened around midnight at south 16th and latona streets in point breeze. Police say at least two men shot a 28yearold man five times. Hes currently in critical condition. Police used tear gas to break up protesters outside President Trumps rally in phoenix last night. Police took action when people started throwing bottles and rocks. They have arrested four people. Phoenix mayor greg stanton had urged the president to postpone the rally in the wake of the attack on counterprotesters in charlottesville, virginia. President trump refused and used the rally to defend his response to last weeks violence blaming the widespread criticism on the media. Then i said, racism is evil. Did they report that i said that racism is evil . You know why . Because they are very dishonest people. The president also hinted he may pardon joe arpaio the former arizona sheriff who is convicted of criminal contempt for defying a judges order to stop racially profiling immigrants. Vandals did thousands of dollars in damage to a cemetery in the citys bustleton section. Philadelphia police say someone toppled at least 20 headstones at saint lukes cemetery just off welsh road. The Historic Site has plots dating back to the civil war. Action news spoke to a man whose families graves were desecrated. I dont want to tell you what went through my mind. Id like to meet up to the people that did this who took joy in turning these over. This is how the fourth incident of cemetery vandalism under investigation by northeast detectives. Police do not suspect this incident was hate crime but, rather, an episode of bad teenaged behavior. 6 36 now. Were looking at essentially dry conditions, a lot drier than it was late last night when we had those drenching thunderstorms coming through. Storm tracker is picking up a little bit of a sprinkle down in southern Chester County right now, a bit more behind that along the i95 corridor east of baltimore. Looks like that stuff up north is falling apart east of reading, so up around quakertown you might be picking up something but none of this is really adding up to that much. As we take a look outside we have sky6 and theres in fact some sun trying to break through the clouds over philadelphia right now and we expect overall a mix of clouds and sun, maybe a little bit sunnier as the day goes on. And even though its very humid right now, these dewpoint numbers which are in the oppressive range, any time you get that dewpoint of 70 or better, thats what you call it, oppressive humidity, but these numbers are starting to drop a little bit and the winds have now turned out of the west and thats good. They were out of the southwest, humid down there. Out to the west, no, so youre going to start to get that drier air in. 76 degrees and warm right now. Ocean temperature 73. Dewpoints again high right now but with that that wind coming in out of the west and eventually coming down out of the northwest we should see those dewpoints drop and the humidity go down with it from northwest all the way down to the southeast during the day today. It will take a little bit longer down the shore. Future tracker6 shows you between now and 9 oclock, and 8~or 9 oclock, a couple of spotty showers still possible. Most of these just nuisance stuff and they get by pretty quick. It does look like they get off the coast fairly quickly, too. Again, it might still be a little bit humid in through here but probably a little less so as you go later into the afternoon. Plus youre by the water. You can always take a dip if you want. This is mostly within the gore point. We see right here, right . Thats where you see the emergency workers. But at times weve seen them also blocking the right lane. Right now im seeing traffic get by on the right lane but i think at times theyre blocking this lane as well so its been creating such a jam on 422. Its a 31 minute ride as you look at these travel times only 6 miles an hour youre traveling and its pretty jammed from 29 to 23 where youre looking at speeds of ranging from the 20s to just the Single Digits near that accident scene on 422 eastbound at 23. Weve got a new accident in upper moreland. Were hearing the accident involving a pedestrian. Watch for an accident right here that just happened in upper moreland township. Also a water main break. We had a couple of them today. One still out here in bridgeport and dekalb street near Fourth Street so watch for the road being blocked with a water main break there. Big Atlantic City air show is today. Weve been talking a lot about it because hundreds of thousands of people come to the boardwalk in a. C. So, you will be among them if youre driving to it. Right now were looking at the green traffic flow on the a. C. Expressway, on route 40, on the parkway but i think all those areas will be jammed as people head to the a. C. A crafty thief in florida used a forklift to pull off an atm heist. It happened under the cover of darkness. The forklift was stolen from a construction site across from a bank. Authorities say the thief most likely couldnt open the machine because it was found down the road with all of its contents still inside. Car owners in bucks county who woke up to slashed tires yesterday are hoping for a better way in to work today. Someone vandalized at least 18 vehicles in the levittown neighborhood. Police believe the slashings happened between 10 oclock monday night and 6 30 Tuesday Morning along rambler lane and red cedar drive. Detectives are working with residents who have Video Surveillance video could find the culprit. Police in texas came out in a show of solidarity. Kevin l will never had a chance to meet his father. The network says announcer robert lee will no longer call the university of virginias home opener football game. Lee as you can see is asianamerican but because he shares the name with the noted confederate general the network says they were afraid the game announcer would become the victim of a torrent of internet memes. A statue of the confederate lee was the focal point of a white supremacist rally in charlottesville, the home of the university of virginia just last week.
