This morning i still have a decent coat on. We have had rain overnight but its long gone off the coast. A little bit breezy at times look at all the clearing we have out to the west. For a time today were going break out into sunshine before we wind up transitioning to cloudier skies later this afternoon. 42 degrees this morning, no more teens to talk about in the morning. 35 still kind of cold in allentown but even thats a big improvement and look at that wind coming up from the southwest. Thats a mild source region for us. We got a 13 Miles Per Hour wind right now in philadelphia and that is going to help draw in milder air as we go into the afternoon. So heres wait looks like today. 41 degrees by 7 oclock. By noon, 44. A lot more sun there. And then probably clouding up again later as we get through the afternoon. 51 is your high at 3 oclock though and even as late as 7 oclock were still looking at about 46 degrees. Now, by about 8 oclock in philadelphia, well have some rain moving back in. So, later tonight look for roads to get a little bit wet but they will not be icy because it will be too warm for. That even milder air on the way tomorrow, karen, before a gradual cooldown friday and saturday. Ill have details on all of that coming up in that seven day and man youve had a lot of problems on 30. We have huge problems on the roads specifically in Chester County. Now temperatures today are roughly 30 degrees warmer than they were yesterday. But police are telling us there are slippery conditions specifically in Chester County on the 30 bypass that are creating a bunch of accidents. State police are telling us four different accidents on the 30 bypass between airport road and route 82 as you head through this area in valley township you really want to be careful. One of the accidents involving an overturn vehicle, two of them slid into guardrails. Another accident not that far off lower gap road and first avenue and police told me when i talked to them that that accident involves Somebody Just slid right off the road so you really need to be careful as youre headed out, all this just happening within the last 30 minutes or so much big problems specifically on the 30 bypass. Chopper6 headed to the scene right there. Other accidents in Chester County, route one oxford bypass northbound near route 10, chester road at spring lawn road an accident in elk township as well. Police are saying icy conditions in North Coventry township, sheep hill road and temple road ice around here. Also accidents in other counties as well. This one near marlboro township Montgomery County, park road at gravel pike. Weve got police and fire crews and ambulance all on the scene with that one. Meanwhile we go outside the schuylkill. Nobodys slipping, nobodys sliding, its mostly just a little damp here at girard and people moving okay but be careful especially in Chester County, matt. Will do. Thank you, karen. Breaking right now man turned the tables on an attacker while walking in the olney section of the city. Police say the attacker assaulted and chased the victim so the victim went ahead and took advantage of his license to carry. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick tells the rest live from northwest detectives. Annie. Reporter thats right, matt, the armed Man Told Police that he was assaulted and chased. Hed never seen the suspect before and he felt in he was in fear, hes licensed to carry a gun and so he used it. This is video from the scene. This al happened just after 11 oclock last night at fifth and west rock lands in the olney section of the city. Police say that the man was leaving a chinese takeout with two friends when his alleged attacker punched him in the face and then when he 20 run away from that alleged attacker, he was chased. It was at that point the man who was licensed to carry a gun pulled out that gun and shot his attacker twice sending the suspect then to einstein hospital where hes in stable condition. Police say this is an Ongoing Investigation but at this point no charges have been filed. Another thing, back out here live police say that the armed man, the victim in this case, stayed on the scene and waited for police and waited to tell his side of the story. Again, this is still an Ongoing Investigation. No charges have been filed. And that suspect is still at einstein in stable condition. Two men connected with a late night shooting on the run this morning. Police say gunfire erupted along the 100 block of north 60th street in west philadelphia. A bullet hit a 42yearold man in the hip. Police believe the victim was being robbed when this gunfire broke out. Hes in stable condition. Police have not released a description of the alleged shooters. Also new on action news wet weather may have caused a nasty crash on the roosevelt boulevard. The action cam was there as police investigated this in the feltonville section of the city. It happened just after midnight in the southbound lanes of the boulevard near sixth street. Investigators say the driver lost control and hit a septa power pole knocking down some wires. No word on that drivers condition. The road has since reopened. It is 6 05 an former teacher in the north Penn School District has been arrested and charged with having a sexual relationship with app female student. Mark miller was a military science instructor with the north Penn High School jr rotc. Miller redesigned december 14th. Several students alerted School Officials to the situation last month who then contacted towamencin township police. Detectives say the student revealed she had been in an inappropriate relationship with miller for several months and that it was consentual. This is not something you would expect to happen with a student and a teacher. Miller waived his preliminary hearing. A trial date has not been set. In terms of precipitation, well, again we cloud up again later this afternoon after a period of sunshine. By 6 oclock, were probably still dry for the evening rush and then later in the evening hours, probably after about 8 oclock in philadelphia, we get another round of rain. Some of it could be steady at times. At the same time there is a possibility of a break here and there and that on and off rain does have a tendency to die away after about 2 oclock in the morning and we should be dry again by tomorrow morning and then tomorrow, a cold front out to the west a continued surge mild air from the south gets us all the way up to 62 degrees for a high. Chopper is looking at one of them we can see right here with one of the vehicles sideways into a guardrail here. Police are saying it is slick on the 30 bypass and you need to be careful. Certainly in this shot you see a little bit of crust at least of melting snow in the center lane but you got watch for some slick spots of a couple roads in Chester County but a number of accidents coming in. So chopper6 showing this one and we can see sort of the flashing lights with police on the scene and this accident, a vehicle kind of facing sideways. Looks like it ran right into a guardrail. Were hearing another one of the accidents is involving an overturned vehicle. Four different accidents on the 30 bypass between airport road and route 82 here in Chester County in valley township. Another accident not that far off, lower gap road and first a. Police tell me that was an accident where a vehicle ran off the road. A is this belviq accident thats in the process of clearing. But here with chopper you can see the highway on the 30 bypass one of the accidents here and were seeing people not slip or slide as they ride past it but nonetheless you can get looks like a little bit of melting snow here or there on the highway and thats whats maybe causing people to slip here or there. Be careful specifically in Chester County. We have other accidents in the area. Were hearing about an accident in maugers mill road near gilbertsville road. Sheep hill road at temple road an accident, another one on park and gravel pike then keep coming in and i was on twitter and someone i talked to a lot john elect field told me driving by an accident on 55 northbound where a vehicles just in the tree out there and yet we look at these temperatures right and were looking above freezing. Its 31 though in Martins Creek but 36 in quakertown, pottstown 39 but we spent about 114 hours below freezing so the Ground Surface is kind of frozen as temperatures are rising now maybe its still slick some some of those spots tam. The admitted racist and convicted murderer acted as his own attorney in the sentencing phase. State police tell us it was because of slippery condition that is they had four different accidents on the 30 bypass. Looks like theyre getting ready to tow this out. As we look live youre seeing other vehicles move without slipping or sliding but you can see in the middle of the lanes there some leftover snow thats trying to melt and i think its just been slushy on some of the roads and people maybe not anticipating it are sliding and thats been the problem as chopper6 looking live on the 30 bypass it looks like that last accident getting ready to clear. The others already have but there are other accidents in Chester County. Route one oxford bypass northbound near route 10 in elk township chesterville road at spring lawn that one has cleared. Upper pottsgrove Montgomery County they had to shut down maugers mill road because of an accident. An accident on route 100 northbound near Chester County again. Emergency crews on the scene with that. Police tell us its icy here on sheep hill road at temple road and thats in Chester County as well. Meanwhile we look outside live and weve got the flashing lights right here. Disabled vehicle on cottman. In Gloucester County were hearing of an accident. It was john lick field on twitter telling us he saw a vehicle in a tree on 55 even though here in south jersey temperatures in the 40s, tam. Okay, thank you, karen. Breaking this morning, a pizza Delivery Driver was robbed at gunpoint while on the job in west philadelphia. This happened on the 6100 block of irving street at 2 30 this morning. The Dominos Pizza Delivery Driver told police two men stole two handguns and a hundred dollars in cash from him. The Delivery Driver and a passenger in his car were not hurt. And also breaking now on action news, good times ended in gunfire. A man says he was targeted for assault but he had a license to carney used it. Thats right, that armed man said that he didnt know the suspect and suddenly he was being assaulted by him and then when he tried to run away from him, that suspect chased him. So that armed man who is licensed to carry, fired at the suspect landing the suspect in the hospital. This is video from the scene. Back out here live, the shooter also stayed on the scene and waited for police to tell his side of the story and while we said this is still under investigation, no charges have been filed. Someone shot the man several times in the torso in wilmington at around midnight. This happened on the 100 block of east 14th street. When officers arrived the gunman was already gone. Wilmington has been struggling with a soaring murder rate and an epidemic of gun crimes. A house fire led to the discovery of a high tech marijuana growing operation in berks county. The electrical fire broke out along the 200 block of north ninth street in reading on thursday. Firefighters found about 120 to 160 pot plants and called police. The 150 pounds of drugs are worth about 350,000 but police have not yet made any arrests. 6 35 now. President elect Donald Trump Holds his First Official News Conference this morning since winning the election. It comes one day after reports surfaced that the fbi was given evidence last summer that russia possesses compromising personal and Financial Information about trump. Reporter matt, we do expect today to hear a lot of different questions on a lot of different topics including Donald Trumps plans once he takes office, his appointments and of course the unconfirmed report that he was briefed last week by top intelligence officials that russia has damaging information on him. As donald trump addresses reporters today at trump tower in his first News Conference as president elect, sure to be broached is the unconfirmed report that russia has damaging information on him. The information is based on memos compiled by a former British Intelligence operative whos past work u. S. Intelligence officials consider to be credible. According to the report, top intelligence officials briefed trump last friday that the russian government is trying to compromise him with both if this and personal information. Those allegations are under investigation. The report says trump received a two page synopsis with unverified information that also indicates a continuing exchange of information between trump representatives and the russian government which were going on during the president ial campaign. Overnight trumps Senior Adviser Kellyanne Conway addressed the allegations on late night with seth myers. She says trump was not aware of any such brief. She says the intelligence briefing he did receive and made comments about afterwards showed no compelling information between alleged hacking and the election results. As for trump he can took to twitter for his response. In all caps, fake news. A total political witch hunt. A spokesman forevers Vladimir Putin has denied these allegations. As for trump his last press conference was july 27th. In the meantime he has answered questions in more informal settings for reporters. Taking a look outside, we do have sky6. Theres the ben franklin bridge and every now and then the camera shakes a bit because we do have a bit of a light breeze blowing through the region but the big story is the temperature. Still chilly with 44 degrees by noon but thats better than the last couple of days and well get to a nice high of 51 degrees well above average for this time of year, back to 47 by 6 oclock. A little bit breezy today. But a big break on the temperatures. Highs across the region, little bit of a range. Only 47 in allentown and 46 in reading. But low 50s up and down the i95 corridor for the most part and 50 on the nose in millville, cape may and over toward dover. Maybe a couple of degrees milder at the airport in atlantic city. And i mentioned that the clouds will get thicker later in the day and by 6 oclock we are expecting relatively overcast conditions. Shortly after that, say, 7, 8 oclock well start to see another round of rain comes in. These are light to moderate showers. Theyll be off and on in through midnight and probably clearing out sometime after midnight. We should be dry again by early tomorrow morning. Kind of convenient with the timing that of really. And then tomorrow with a front still off to the west, were going to continue that surge of southerly flow and thats going to bounce us all the way up to a high of 62 tomorrow. That will feel especially nice. It will be a bit breezy with winds out of the southwest at 12 to 20 Miles Per Hour.
