70 degrees but theyre going to climb well into the 70s through the day today. So, how it feels oppressive even more so than yesterday and here you could see those dewpoints. A little better in the Lehigh Valley but 71 in philadelphia, already 74 in millville and dover and this afternoon theyre going to climb further. Satellite6 and action radar showing lots of clouds. We could see a couple showers or thunderstorms try to fire up, really kind of dissipated right now but thats something were watching because we have a slight chance for Severe Weather later today. At 8 oclock, 78 degrees, lots of clouds and some sun. By 10 00 more sun and 86. By lunchtime 89. At 3 oclock, 94 degrees. Thats your high today with some strong storms especially later this afternoon. And thats going to cut the temperature down pretty quickly so at 6 oclock youre looking at about 86 degrees but still a thunderstorm in spots. Those storms really could be strong so im going to show you what it looks like on future tracker6 and help you time out your day in a couple minutes, matt isnt sounds like you have some friends honking at you out there this morning. Good morning, karen, good morning, everybody. We need some of our friendly cleanup crews here in Lawrence TownshipMercer County. As promised chopper6 hd has made its way to the scene of the overturned truck thats blocking the ramp from route one southbound to 95 southbound. Looks like it spilled a whole bunch of trash all over the ramp. Looks like it damaged the guardrail as well and were hearing theres also a diesel fuel leak coming from the truck so this ramp route one southbound coming away from the quakerbridge new get onto 95 southbound to head toward pennsylvania is blocked. Lets hit the maps and instead of that ramp you can keep going south on one to Franklin Corner road. If you exit there get over to princeton pike and from there you can get on the southbound side of 95. Well continue to watching it. Were also watching a situation with an overnight crash that necessitated some emergency construction in elmer by the Presbyterian Church along 40. 40 westbound has reopened so go ahead and use that this morning. But now theres a new crash here on the schuylkill expressway right by the roosevelt boulevard route one. Its mostly on the side but people are slowing down just a bit as they head eastbound towards center city to see whats going on with this accident. In center city this is the vine street expressway. Weve been seeing some westbound slowing approaching 76. Doesnt look too terrible at the moment and here on 95 just starting to tap the brakes southbound entering the work zone at cottman avenue. Staying farther south headed toward girard at this point just a little building volume on 95. The big issue is in Mercer County and matt well keep tabs on that. Well check in with you. Thanks matt. Pennsylvanias political world is waiting word from attorney general Kathleen Kane. Will she resign now these shes been found guilty of all nine counts in her perjury trial or will she wait until sentencing to stepdown annie mccorp chicago live at the Montgomery County courthouse where that verdict was read last night. Annie. Reporter matt, even before the verdict came down a number of lawmakers have been asking attorney general Kathleen Kane to resign but those calls came again last night including from governor tom wolf. She says shes going to appeal. Jurors handed down guilty verdicts on nine counts including two for felony perjury after a week of testimony where some of attorney general Kathleen Kanes former top advisers testified for the prosecution, the jury believed she leaked secret investigative documents and grand jury information to the media, then lied under on this about it, all so she could get revenge against a former state prosecutor. Kanes legal team called no witnesses and did not put her on the stand. They argued prosecutors did not prove charges against kane including those for federal perjury. Last night kanes defense team spoke outside the courthouse. Montgomery County District attorney kevin steele also addressed the media. Seeing that we had somebody who felt that she was above the law. My client and her family, its a tragic, you know, beyond any measure and something that she has to deal with. Shes a very strong woman and she will deal with it. Reporter now, the current first Deputy Attorney general bruce castor who also happened to serve as Montgomery CountyDistrict Attorney as a republican several years ago, he has called for a News Conference this afternoon at the Attorney Generals Office in harrisburg, but no word about what type of announcement that he he will make. Now, kane has not said again whether or not she will resign but per law she has to upon sentencing. That sentencing, though he, is not scheduled for another 90 days. For now reporting live in norristown Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Back to you. Annie thank you. It is now 6 05 and demonstrators clashed over the future of a statue of former philadelphia mayor frank rizzo. About 300 people gathered in south philadelphia yesterday to rally support for keeping the 9foot bronze statue. Thousands of people have signed a petition however for its removal calling rizzo a racist. But yesterdays rally turned chaotic when black lives matter protestors arrived to join in. Police will to repeatedly separate the groups as they marched to center city. Jodi dell barber was rizzos personal assistant. I think its the most ridiculous thing thats ever been tried in the city of philadelphia. He was not a racist number one. I think that honestly that black lives matter is going overreactorring just a little too bit too much. Members of black lives matter declined to give their point of view on camera. If you stay at a hotel in the last six months and paid with a credit card you might want to give those statements extra scrutiny. There are three participating shake shacks in the 6abc viewing area in center city philadelphia, in University City and just outside the king of prussia mall so make sure youre there when the doors open at 10 30 a. M. Matt and tam theres a shake shack two blocks from here. Best time to go is 11 00 and counter me in for the cheese fries. Well get it to you. 10 30 not too early for a cheeseburger certainly. No. Okay, if you say so. Then you got to work out the rest of the day. Lets take a look right now at storm tracker6 live double scan. Few showers near surf city and toms river and we can certainly see those cells forming out Near State College with double scan ive got a closer view of this and that way you can see weve got a couple of showers trying to pop up here or there. We see a few north of pottstown. What youre seeing there in quakertown and doylestown is just ground clutter and thats not reaching ground. Lets go outside. You get the idea its a little unstable as we look live with our Temple University camera. Weve got a beautiful shot of sky6. We have lots of clouds up above but were going to see a good amount of sunshine mixing with it. Its 77 degrees the current temperature. The dewpoint is 71. It already feels oppressive. The pressure is falling. The winds are southsouthwesterly and the ocean temperature is 69. Satellite6 and action radar showing lots of clouds in place. We saw some showers and thunderstorms trying to fire up especially south of the city overnight and now you can see a few cells shrek speckled. Better chance of seeing storms is later in the afternoon. I was looking at this earlier, any time around 3 oclock you can start to see a cell form or two but this is a look at 5 oclock where it starts to get a little more organized and this model showing a line of storms really developing and moving through the area and you can tell by some of the colors here, the red and the purple, how intense these storms will be. That gives you an indication of how heavily its going to rain and when it comes down so quickly oftentimes you get hail and that could be the case today. So any time after 3 00 this is looking at 7 00 and still some cells in place. At 10 30, getting quieter after that but were watching because any one of these storms could be strong to severe. 94 degrees for your high. But its more humid than yesterday. So its going to feel like its in the low 100s. At 8 00 a. M. , 78. At 10 00, its 86. Buy noon, its 89. By 3 00 p. M. , 94. Thats your high today. Any time after 3 00 we start to see those cells form and that could very quickly drop the temperature from 94 to 88 because were going to get that rain cooled atmosphere. A good idea to go to the beach if you want to avoid the heat early in the afternoon and the delaware beaches it will be about 89, new jersey beaches 86. Will you have a sea breeze but youre watching nor late day thunderstorm. We saw how most of that activity is moving from west to east so you may sneak in a good early afternoon but you got to be careful this is the last day of the extreme heat. The heat index is going to be about 100 to 104 this afternoon. Were also watching for a heavy thunderstorms with lightning late this afternoon. Heres your seven day. Hot and humid with a thunderstorm. 94 for your high today. Tomorrow still hot and still pretty sticky, 92. Couple of thunderstorms. By thursday, you really feel less humid. Its feeling better but still warm and 89. Friday mostly sunny, 91. Saturday partly sunny, 90. Heats back on. Sunday humid with sunshine and clouds. Were looking at also a temperature of 90 degrees. On monday, mostly cloudy, a couple of showers or thunderstorms and 88 degrees. So, we keep adding on these 90 plus degree days and weve got one today. Okay, thanks karen. 6 10 now and next and new this morning, police say that devastating wildfire out west which is still burning this morning was intentionally set and they make an arrest. The end of an era on the las vegas strip. An iconic hotel couples down. Matt. Speeds will be coming down for sure tam because a new crash just popped up here on 95. Southbound side right by the exit for the vine street expressway. Vehicle is facing the wrong way. Theres debris on the roadway. This just happened. Well keep watching this and the overturned truck in Mercer County when action news continues on this tuesday morning. With simply right checking from santander bank, just make one deposit, withdrawal, transfer, or payment each month to waive the monthly fee. And theres no minimum balance. Youre alright with simply right checking from santander bank. Are you feeling alright, baby . Welcome back. Chopper hd channel six is over a mess here in south jersey. This is where route one and 95 meet up there in Mercer County. This we believe is a trash truck over on its side and you can just see debris everywhere on the roadway, off to the side, off in the trees even and were also hearing that theyre dealing with a fuel spillage out there as well. So chopper6 over what looks like it could be a scene for some time to come. Continuing our coverage right now with matt pelman. Yeah, what a trashy situation. Were about an hour into this situation in Lawrence TownshipMercer County and the truck remains on its side with trash all over the ramp thats coming away from route one southbound coming away from the quakerbridge mall getting onto 95 southbound to head toward pennsylvania and bucks county. That ramp from one southbound to 95 southbound is blocked because of this truck on its side. Theres a heavy duty wrecker on the scene. Youve got some emergency crews otherwise also assisting but the ramp completely blocked off as you come south on one and as chopper pans back you can see that ramp shut down from one southbound to 95 southbound. So, if you keep going south on one you can exit for Franklin Corner road. Run that over to princeton pike and then take princeton pike back up to 95 southbound and from there you can work your way over to pennsylvania. But once you get on 95 in pennsylvania, weve got problems around center city. An accident that just happened about 10 minutes ago here in the southbound lanes right by the exit for the vine street expressway. Vehicle right there is facing the wrong way. Theres debris on the roadway. Southbound traffics only squeezing by there on the left side, on the Left Shoulder because now emergency crews are on the scene. And of course this is the spot on 95 where were busiest in the morning as people head into center city so already youre stacked solidly from allegheny avenue through this point at 676 the vine. Its going to be a mess on 95 southbound this morning. Well keep watching it. Were also watching a crash on the ramp from the roosevelt boulevard southbound to the schuylkill eastbound right where they meet up. That crash is mostly off to the side so luckily you can squeeze around that one without too much of a problem. And of course ive got some construction for you. Starting at 6 oclock this morning the flaggers have been out along richlieu road in bensalem so theyre going to be there all day today. Might want to stick with old lincoln highway or hulmeville road instead of richlieu road. Old york road is closed at jamison because of construction all week. Bristol road in same neck of the woods reopened on friday. Matt and tam. Thanks matt. This afternoon the dewpoints are just going to be oppressive. Youll feel the humidity. Satellite6 and action radar showing a good amount of clouds. Youre seeing some showers trying to develop here and there and were watching for that, but the best chance for that is really late this afternoon and were very concerned about that because the Storm Prediction Center has our region under a slight risk for Severe Weather. Potentially damaging winds the greatest issue but we could also see some small hail and certainly flooding downpours one of humidity this high. By 8 00 a. M. ,78. Of clouds some sunshine. By 10 00 a. So, ill show you what those storms look like as they evolve and when exactly you have the chance to get it in your neighborhood with future tracker6 coming up in just a few minutes. Matt. All right, karen, weve got major headaches for 95 drivers on this tuesday morning. First ones right here on the southbound side right where 95 splits from the vine street expressway, 676. An accident involving several cars, one of them was facing sideways. Looks like they have it straightened out and pushed off to the side. This truck also involved. Theyre making progress. Now they have the two left lanes opened traveling southbound on 95 toward penns landing but this is still creating quite the backlog coming southbound now from the betsy ross bridge you hit the wall of traffic with those speeds like 12 Miles Per Hour on down to that scene right by the vine street expressway. Theres also a crash this morning on the ramp from the roosevelt boulevard southbound to the schuylkill eastbound. That luckily is mostly off to the side. But this is not. Chopper6 hd remains high in the sky over Lawrence TownshipMercer County where this trash truck flipped over a little while ago. Still has the ramp from route one southbound to 95 southbound blocked off as they attempt to move some of the trash spilled out of the truck. Lets go back to the maps. So that ramp one southbound to 95 southbound is still closed. You can keep going down to Franklin Corner road. From there you can get to princeton pike and use that to get to 95 southbound. We had a crash on the new jersey turnpike southbound by the black horse pike. Thats off to the side but watching a new crash in ambler. This is 309 northbound by susquehanna road. Right lane blocked here with debris on the roadway here as well. Tam. Okay, thank you, matt. The defense calls it a crushing blow. Attorney general Kathleen Kane has been found guilty on all nine charges convicted for abuse of power and perjury. There are calls this morning for her to resign but she may well remain defiant. Annie mccormick is live outside of the Montgomery County courthouse where that verdict came down last night. Good morning, annie. Reporter good morning, tam. And even when those charges came down awhile back a number of lawmakers were calling on the attorney general Kathleen Kane to resign. Now since the verdict came down last night, more are doing the same including governor tom wolf. We havent heard yet from Kathleen Kane about what she will do. However, she he did say last night she will appeal. Jurors handed down guilty verdicts on nine counts including two for felony perjury after a week of testimony where some of attorneattorney general Kathleen Kanes former top advisers testified for the prosecution the jury believed she leaked secret investigative documents to the grand jury and lied under oath so she could get revenge against a former state prosecutor. Kanes legal team called no witnesses and did not put her on the stand. They argued prosecutors did not prove charges against kane including those for federal perjury. Last night kanes defense team spoke outside the courthouse. Montgomery County District attorney kevin steele also addressed the media. Conviction on all counts is a crushing blow. Im not going to say otherwise. In many of my cases there is in witnesses appeared and acquittals were resulted and the opposite is also true. Its a strategy. Obviously we thought that it would work. But ill be the first person to say we were wrong. This was about the defendant going before a grand jury in Montgomery County and lying to that grand jury. The evidence was overwhelming in that regard. Reporter now, the next in line in the Attorney Generals Office first Deputy Attorney general bruce castor who used to serve here in Montgomery County as their District Attorney as a republican has called for a News Conference this afternoon in harrisburg at the Attorney Generals Officers. Now, per law kane does not have to resign until shes sentenced. That sentencing is not scheduled until 90 days from now. Reporting live from norristown Annie Mccormack channel6 action news. Nearly one dozen local red cross volunteers are headed to southern louisiana. They will join a massive Disaster Response following historic flooding in that area. Action news is at Philadelphia International airport early this morning as 30 volunteers arrive for their flights to baton rouge. The red cross will help the tens of thousands who have been forced out of their homes by what is being billed as a thousand year flood. Janice winston is one of the volunteers and says this will be her third trip to louisiana to help during a disaster. Personal pain that people are suffering, i knew that it was time for me to pack my things and go on a plane and go down and help my people. The flooding in louisiana has left seven people dead. At much as 2 feet of rain fell over just two days. Can you just imagine all the lives devastated down there. Its so difficult to hear those stories and we have different stories on this end. Were hearing about people having trouble with the heat as this is day seven of our heat wave and countering. Lets take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan. Just a few showers near toms river. A storm trying to brew near harrisburg. The rest of the area is drive. Lets go on outside and see wait looks like. Weve been getting some beautiful shots of a mixture of the clouds trying to move out right now and were seeing that now in Atlantic City. As we look live on sky6 lets check those numbers. Its 77 degrees already in philadelphia. Its warm and muggy. 72 in allentown and Atlantic City at the airport its 75 degrees. So warm, the humidity today will be worse than yesterday. So, 94 for your high. We also hit 94 yesterday but the humidity wasnt as horrible yesterday. So today its going to feel like its in the low 100s this afternoon. By 8 00 a. M. , its 78 with lots of clouds and some sun. By 10 00, 86. By lunchtime, 89 degrees. At 3 oclock, well hit our high of 94 but its going to feel like its around 100, one lunn two. Then we get some strong to severe storms that move through. Watch how the temperature drops from 94 a couple hours later its in the 80s so we get a quick cutoff with that High Temperature because of the storms that will brew. Satellite6 and action radar showing right now we have lots of clouds. These showers that you can see on the radar ive been checking theyre not actually reaching ground at this point but you get the ready. The atmosphere is a little unstable. We have a warm front thats lifting through but i think the better chance to see some storms is any time after 3 oclock today. 3 oclock we start to see some cells firing up and this model of future tracker showing at 5 oclock this afternoon when youre getting ready to drive them to this evening we have a line of storms that starts to develop went see some of the dark colors indicating how heavy it could downpour with any one of these storms. At 7 oclock, we see these cells kind of pushing through the area and then clearer by 11 oclock. So any time after 3 oclock youre going to want to watch for that because the Storm Prediction Center has placed most our region in a slight risk for Severe Weather with some damaging winds possible. So, this is the last day of the extreme heat where the heat index will be over 100 but were watching for a heavy thunderstorm and some lightning and downpours. Heres your exclusive accuweather 7day. Hot and humid, a thunderstorm especially late this afternoon. 94 for your high. Tomorrows still hot. 92 for your High Temperature. Humidity will start to decrease in the afternoon but its still going to be sticky at the Atlantic City air show and we have a chance for a few scattered storms. Then thursday less humid. We all feel a little bit better but there temperature is still quite warm on the 89. Friday looks hot again mostly sunny and 91. Starting to feel sticky for the weekend but nothing like this past weekend. Partly sunny and muggy, 90 for your high on saturday. Sunday sun and clouds, its humid, 90 for your high also with a chance for a thunderstorm. Monday looks mostly cloudy with a few storms around as a front moves through. 88 degrees for your High Temperature then. So, hot and more humid today. All right, its 6 40. Up next more stories that are new overnight including a powerful quake in south america that has killed a u. S. Tourist. Later a critter in crisis scampers into the right place. An emt parking lot. Hes got something on his head, matt. Look at that. Good morning, matt. Were live along 95. A solid line of traffic now southbound from Bridge Street into the vine. We are tracking big problems in new jersey. Chopper6 is live over 95 where they are trying to clean up the mess from this overturned truck and it indeed looks like it was carrying garbage which is strewn all over the place. Delays continue at this hour. Lets go over to matt pelman and get the latest on how to get around all of that and other holdups across the city. Good morning. Theres a plethora of problems this morning. Well return to that one in a second. First lets talk about the bigger delays on 95 and theyre here in the southbound direction matt and tam from Bridge Street through this point at betsy ross bridge on into the vine street expressway. Solid line of traffic thats barely moving all because of what was now an earlier accident on 95 southbound by the vine. At one point a vehicle was facing the wrong way. Theyve gotten pretty much everything cleared out of the way now so all southbound lanes have reopened. That is it not mean traffics moving well. It certainly is not on 95 southbound starting right around Bridge Street you hit those single digit speeds like 9 Miles Per Hour headed in toward the earlier accident scene by the vine. Also had a crash early this morning on the ramp from the roosevelt boulevard southbound to the schuylkill eastbound. That ones off to the side luckily so thats good news but now theres a new crash coming in in delco along the blue route, 476, between Baltimore Pike and the route one media bypass. A vehicle into the guardrail. Kind of hard to see. Its right there behind that overhead sign. Its occupying both shoulder hes of the roadway so do you have some slowing here in both directions between the route one media bypass and Baltimore Pike but at least you can get by in both lanes. Lets go back outside to Lawrence TownshipMercer County where this trash truck flipped over right around 5 oclock this morning. It continues to block the ramp from route one southbound to 95 southbound so thats coming away from the quakerbridge mall headed toward 95 southbound to get down to pennsylvania. If thats normally your ramp keep going south on one to Franklin Corner road. From there you can get over to princeton pike and from there you can get on the southbound side of 95. Mess in Mercer County. One more issue here in 309 in ambler northbound side by susquehanna road. This accident still has the right lane blocked. There was some debris there so thats why that lane is blocked with delays coming north of the turnpike. Matt and tam. Thank you, matt. Just into action news we have learned a u. S.
