Slammed parts of the Delaware Valley overnight. Accuweather is tracking even more downpours for later. So lets get you ready with meteorologist, david murphy and karen rogers. Good morning. All right, guys, well, were off to a fairly cloudy start. I think we are going to see some sun especially south of philadelphia but even in the city some and as you take a look at satellite and radar, we do have the showers that came through last night, a couple of you had a brief rumble of thunder and some lightning. Its that Second System out by pittsburgh thats going to come in later this afternoon and give us another round of showers and perhaps some spotty gusty thunderstorms. 59 degrees, not breezy, fairly comfortable, a light jacket i think definitely works on the way in. 53 in allentown, 56 in wilmington, 55 in trenton currently and in the 60s in millville, cape may and down in dover. As we go through the day, on this election day in pennsylvania, 65 degrees by 8 oclock, 74 by 11 oclock and by 2 oclock, 81. In through that period we expect to be dry so if you have plans to be outside doing stuff or if you have plans to vote, thats an okay time period. Now, after about two or 3 oclock in the northern suburbs it could start getting a little damp in spots and by 5 oclock really four, five, maybe 6 oclock there is the chance of some gusty thunderstorms developing in at least some neighborhoods and then that pushes down to the shore by about 8 oclock in philadelphia were drying out by then. Todays high is 83 and that will probably come a little early in the day say around 1 30 or so. Karen rogers we will track those storms with future tracker6 and then have word of a big cooldown in the accuweather 7day forecast. For now what are the roads looking like . Well, we have a new problem that just popped up right now day. Looking live in Delaware County, this is i95 southbound near the blue route and we had this construction crew that stopped and was blocking the left lane. Were watching live as they pull out right now. So, it was pretty short lived but they were out there working blocking the left lane and now they just cleared moving a little better. Northbound the delay is thinning now. Looks a lot better. We had some late running construction in this area that caused an Early Morning delay but looking better there. As we take a live look right now were looking at the boulevard, that southbound traffic moving okay at this point with no big problems there. We had a fatal accident involving a tractortrailer yesterday on the pennsylvania turnpike and it was closed awhile but all lanes back opened. I talked to police out there. Theyre done the accident investigation. If you need head on the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound all lanes opened between willow grove and bensalem. Dealing with that but we have some construction blocking the right lane here near virginia drive. Thats eastbound as well as some construction out here westbound past valley forge blocking the right lane. The only other issue out there right now is this water main break in northern delaware closing shipley road near wilson road. Stick to silver side to get around it matt. Got it karen. Thank you. Breaking news. Massive flames destroyed a large home in Delaware County leaving just portions of the structure Still Standing and illuminating the dark sky. It broke out at the home on dogwood hill lane in chadds ford at 2 00 a. M. Nozzle nut photography provided us with some of the video and intense image of the fire fight. Crews called a second alarm to get tanger trucks to the scene for more water and some of the flames seemed to have been fueled by a natural gas leak. Action cam is live at the chadds ford home right now or whats left of it. Utility crews were called there to shut off the gas but we are told they are having trouble doing that and so you see some small fires are still coming from the scene. They may be fueled by that natural gas. And at this point so far no reports of any injuries. As well, today is a pivotal day in this unpredictable election season. Voters in five states including pennsylvania and delaware will cast their votes in president ial primaries in several location raises. Action News Reporter Katherine Scott is live at a polling station in east falls with the details. Good morning, katherine. Reporter good morning, tam and matt. We will have the future that we deserve if we work togethe together. Reporter over at West Chester University donald trump revved up his crowd. On the republican side theres been a lot of talk about a deal between ted cruz and john kasich. The ladder who enjoyed breakfast in south philadelphia yesterday. Neither will campaign in each others remaining strongest states. The theory is that will give them the best chance of denying donald trump 1237 delegates. Ive been doing this for 10 months and these two guys theyre politicians all their lives, thats all they do and now they join forces. I dont see this as any big deal other than the fact that im not going to spend resources in indiana hes not going to spend them in other places. So what . Whats the big deal . Reporter so whether youre heading to the polls here at mifflin or elsewhere in pennsylvania the republican candidates are making sure their supporters know which delegate to vote for. Pennsylvanias delegate allocation process is unusual on the republican side. Pennsylvania gets 71 delegates to the convention in cleveland. 17 of them are bound to the candidate who wins the primary on the first ballot. The 54 elected today are free agents which means they are not bound to the candidate who wins the states popular vote. Well a lot of people are watching pennsylvanias race in particular, though there are races in five states today on primary day and here a here n pennsylvania and delaware polls close at 8 oclock tonight. Dont keep them in my house then. Theyll be gone. Storm tracker6 live double scan shows us that those thunderstorms and showers from overnight are now gone and most of them are off the coast. You might still be hearing some of that thunder coming in over the waves on the coastal areas but the storms are on their way out to sea and away from you so dont worry about it. As we take a look outside we are looking at some cloud cover a plenty down the shore but there are some breaks and i think its one of those days where you will have periods of sunshine even though there probably will be a decent amount of clouds. 54 degrees is your current temperature up in allentown. 59 in philadelphia. 56 in wilmington. 55 in trenton. Not a lot of wind out there. In the 60s in a lot of spots down to the south including millville cape may and dover. So, not too bad temperaturewise and again light winds. As we roll through the morning, look for a mix of clouds and sun. That carries us right into the afternoon. By two or 3 oclock, up in the northern and western suburbs there is the chance of the reemergence of a couple of showers, maybe a rumble of thunder. And then as we get later into the afternoon, 4, 5, 6 oclock, there is a better chance of some spotty but perhaps gusty thunderstorms developing. Now, this model run happens to push a lot of this action down towards the shore as soon as 5 oclock. That may be but we could also wind up with a line right through i95 corridor in through there. As we get up to 7 oclock, it does look like most of the action is down south of pennsylvania, south jersey, maybe delaware has a little bit of that and then we get to about 9 oclock and it is off the coast. In terms of what we can expect out of this, well, again the key time period is 2 oclock in the northern suburbs up to maybe 3 oclock for the start of this and then down through the i95 corridor closer to the rush hour and down into south jersey by about 7 oclock or 8 oclock. Any storms that form will be scattered but some could be gusty. That can produce strong damaging wind gusts briefly out ahead of the storm and maybe some small hail mixed in so if you hear a rumble of thunder today you head indoors on the lower floors. Shouldnt take long for the spotty storms to get past you. We have a big cooldown to follow the passage of these storms later tonight and tomorrow. Up in the Lehigh Valley 76 is your high today, some afternoon showers or thunderstorms cant be ruled out. Down the shore you probable have to hold off until later in the afternoon and early evening for most of your spotty rain, clouds and sun otherwise, a high of 75 a little milder down along the beach today. And in philadelphia, a high of 83 degrees. Mostly cloudy skies overall with some sunny breaks and then in the afternoon those thunderstorms are possible in at least some neighborhoods. Your exclusive accuweather 7day, todays high is that 83. Look out for the storms especially later this afternoon and this evening. If you want to get out there and vote these are spotty storms so you can probably get it done later in there afternoon but youll have no problem in the morning or midday. 66 degrees partly sunny an lot cooler tomorrow behind that system and then only 59 on thursday and occasionally well see some rain at times so thursday a little bit iffy. 63 degrees, clouds with maybe a lingering shower. For the coming weekend, sunshine returns. We get no worse than partly sunny skies on saturday with a high of 68. Good news for phillies fans and union fans. And then on sunday, broad street run in the morning, phillies play day baseball and it looks pretty good with a mix of clouds and sun, maybe a few more clouds as the day goes on and a high of 68. We are looking at more rain arriving but probably not until sunday night. Okay, thanks, david. Just about 6 13 and still ahead fiery revenge. Cameras catch a would be arsonist red handed and the victim says he knows why it happened. Also a city filibuster. How about how the rapper played a role in a political maneuver in missouri. Karen. We spotted Police Activity going on right here and this is arch street at schuylkill avenue right by 30th street station. There might be some slowing in this area here. Youre taking a live look there, the view of the sunrise beginning there. It is 6 16, 59 degrees. We did have some rain overnight and we could be in for some thunderstorms later in the day. Uhhuh. So, well just enjoy the sunrise for now. Well, you got something going on there, karen. We have a few new problems coming in. Even though your morning commute no weather related problems its really a evening commute issue. Looking live at 422 at 29. Westbound we have a new accident and you can see penndot on the scene. Theyve got the cones and the flares set up and the vehicle itself is off into the median. So, not really causing too much of a traffic problem here westbound but of course your normal morning volume is eastbound. Normal morning volume is eastbound and you can see that heavier traffic eastbound right now, that building volume as we look live at 422 at 29. Weve got another new accident coming in. Its route one southbound right near route 13 in morrisville bucks county and this accident mostly off to the side. And its a disabled vehicle here thats blocking the right lane. 295 northbound just past 47, thats delsea drive exit 25 and we can now see speeds quickly drop once you have a lane blocked in that area, 32 miles an hour so a slow go there. 55 northbound also slow as you head towards 42, only about 29 miles an hour in that area as well and also delaware Memorial Bridge 295 southbound part one of the lanes remains blocked at this point so emergency construction from last week caused huge headaches last week when they were blocking most of the lanes. Now you just have part of one lane blocked so it should just be a little bit of slowing in that area. Temperaturewise its warm. 59 degrees in philadelphia, in the 60s in parts of south jersey. 54 degrees in allentown. We he do have more storms coming your way. You probably he heard them overnight. All right, karen, we have temps in the 50s across the region right now. By 7 oclock well probably be back up into the low 60s in philadelphia and then staying dry and warming up up through the midday hour when were up close to 80 degrees. Well see a high today of 83. That will be rather early around 2 oclock and then well settle back to 73 by 5 oclock. In terms of rain today, it probably doesnt really build in until about two or 3 oclock in the northern suburbs and more like four, five and 6 oclock in the i95 corridor. Spotty showers, a spotty gusty thunderstorm. Not everybody sees that but if one heads your day take cover because it does look like they could produce brief damaging wind gusts. Accuweather is tracking another round for later this afternoon. Good morning everyone, 6 30 on this tuesday april 26th. Lets turn to dave murphy and karen rogers. Well, tranquil to start your morning. Weve got a fair amount of cloud cover around but well get some sunshine breaking through. Take a look at satellite and radar. There goes those storms and showers that came through briefly overnight. Theyre now gone but its that second batch coming into pittsburgh well be watching for later this afternoon into early this evening. Ly temperature right now not too bad. 59 degrees, winds are light in philadelphia. 63 in millville. So, 60s down south and up north in allentown 54 degrees currently. As you head out the door, maybe to vote in pennsylvania, heres what you can expect. 65 degrees by 8 oclock. 74 by 11 oclock and getting warm by 2 oclock. 81 degrees, very likely dry in through that period. And then after about two or 3 oclock in the northern suburbs well be looking for some spotty popup showers and eventually after maybe 4, 5 oclock you start to see some spotty but potentially gusty thunderstorms popping up in the i95 corridor. You want to take cover from those because they could produce strong winds lightning little brief downpour maybe even some hail. By 8 oclock all that is down by the coast and getting away from us, 75 degrees there. So, a warm afternoon ahead with a high of 83 probably around 1 30 and then we start to see those thunderstorms later this afternoon. Karen, ill track those storms on future tracker6 and then we are looking at a big cooldown in the sevenday forecast so thats also ahead. What have you got there . You know weve got a handful of problems keep coming in this morning dave. Were looking live in falls township bucks county. You see this Accident Route one southbound right at route 13 as you head towards langhorne youre going to see this accident with a few emergency workers here mostly off to the side so traffic is getting by okay here bucks county route one southbound. I95 southbound some good sized delays here as you head towards center city. You can see youre jammed academy to cottman and again Bridge Street to girard. We had an earlier disabled vehicle there near allegheny and that has since cleared but a slow go on i95 southbound. Weve noticed extra heavy traffic on the vine street expressway. Look at this westbound traffi traffic. Got heavier since the last time i talked to you. Youre jammed past broad to approaching the schuylkill and i think thats because of that Police Activity i showed you at the end of the ramp from the vine and the schuylkill to 30th street and its causing an extra backup on the vine westbound. So, be careful about that. We have another accident here, single vehicle accident, the car is in the median penndot is another scene. They set up the cones. This is 422 at 29. Its westbound where your traffic is normally lighter. Its eastbound over here where we see that building volume. Thats your normal morning delay but watch for that accident in the middle, matt and tam. Okay thank you karen. We have an update just in here on breaking news. Utility crews in Delaware County have just shut off the gas main that has been fueling that massive house fire. Flames broke out around 2 00 this morning on dogwood hill lane in chadds ford and they spread like they were whipped b. These images came to us courtesy of nozzle nut photography. That fire quickly went to a second alarm since tanker trucks had to be brought in to fight the blaze. Now lets go over to the action cam. It is live there on the scene and you can see after those flames out there for so long up to a few minutes ago, now its a more smoky scene but we still see the backhoe that they used to find that line and we still see firefighters out there making sure that everything has been tamped down. And going on to the elections, candidates were showing frayed voices and frayed nerve as we led into the latest primaries. Storm tracker6 live double scan shows you we are dry. As we look outside we have sky6 and some sunshine coming up across the city and at times youll have sun mixing with clouds and then later this afternoon another round of those spotty storms. 59 degrees currently as you head out the door, not bad, pretty pleasant this morning, dewpoint is up there fairly high. Winds are light only running at 6 Miles Per Hour currently in the city. Future tracker6 picks up the rain story and theres no story up until about two or 3 oclock this afternoon. By two or 3 oclock this afternoon the northern and western suburbs have a chance of developing some spotty popup showers and maybe a rumble of thunder. A better chance of that after we get past, say, 4, 5 oclock in the i95 corridor down to the shore. You can see how the model is put something very intense downpours that will briefly come through. These would be potentially gusty thunderstorms that again could produce small hail and strong damaging wind gusts right out ahead of them. I know that this model at 5 oclock isnt showing anything in through philadelphia but there actually is a slot in the i shot in the i95 corridor at 5 00. Most of your action is down in south jersey. Then it looks like its off the coast by about 8, 9 oclock tomorrow night. What to expect. Theyre not going to be everywhere but where they hit theres a slight risk posted by the National Storm Prediction Center of an enhanced slight risk for a strong gusty storm, storms that could produce Strong Enough wind gusts that could bring down tree brisks, small hail along with residual lightning and that brief downpour. Hopefully these miss you. Take cover on the lower floors if one happens to head your way. Otherwise the story is the warmth. 73 degrees by 10 oclock, 79 by noon and by 3 oclock 82. Well probably get a high of 83 fairly early in the afternoon around one or 2 oclock before we start to dip and look at how far we drop by 5 oclock with there cooler air and those thunderstorms popping through in some neighborhoods. High temperatures ahead of all of that, though, are pretty warm just about everywhere. Ahead of the rain its goingy going to be a day for sweating out there again. Your exclusive accuweather 7day 83 is todays high. Look out for those afternoon spotty thunderstorms that could be gusty. Those get done early in the evening and then cooler air starts to come in. The overnight low tonight is 51 and tomorrow afternoons high just 66 degrees partly sunny skies, cooler, though and then all the way down to 59 with basically cloudy skies on thursday and occasional rain. Thats beginning to look like a rather damp day. On friday clouds for the most part, maybe a sunny break. A couple of spotty showers possible but not as much as thursday. And theres even a chance of sun coming back late in the day on friday. The weekend partly sunny skies on saturday, 68 degrees the high and clouds and sun on sunday, 68 degrees there with some rain at night. If youre flying out later this afternoon, you might be delayed for some thundershowers that could break out at any time. Lets see how your morning commute is going and head on over to karen rogers. Good morning. Good morning. Weve will some slow traffic on the vine street expressway westbound as you head towards the schuylkill. Its pretty jammed from broad street to the schuylkill and thats because of earlier Police Activity that was at the end of the ramp from the vine and the schuylkill to 30th street and so that created delays on the vine. Now, the Police Activity is cleared so hopefully those delays will ease but it looks like kind of the damage is done and its a little extra heavy on the vine westbound. As we look at the big picture we have a few issues that have been going on out here. Weve got the disabled vehicle i95 southbound near allegheny that just cleared. So that had been causing some extra delays as well. So watch for a slow go on i95 southbound. Also new accident in lower merion and thats on lancaster avenue at city avenue so new accident coming in right there. Lets take you to the accident scene in falls township in bucks county and lets check on that. It looks like most of the vehicles have left. We just see penndot on the scene right here off to the side on route one southbound at 13 so youll deal with this as you head towards langhorne. Last time i looked we saw a number of Police Officers here so most have left the scene and that accident in the process of clearing out. I talked to police in Lehigh County and they told me boy an accident theyre responding to right now. Its in the middle of the roadway here on os strum street. We saw slow speeds in new jersey because of a disabled vehicle. It is cleared on 295 southbound but were still seeing about 37 miles an hour here past its northbound, 295 northbound past 47 so you see those northbound delays still at 37 miles an hour. And also only 15 miles an hour on 55 northbound as you head towards 42. And i talked to police in salem county. They told me about an accident here in pittsgrove theyre responding to right on garden road at crow pond road. So weve had app handful of problems but roads are drying out right now from the overnight storms. The next rounds come during the evening commute matt. Got it karen thanks.
