In lower merion we have a problem here. This is new here in montgomery county. An accident being reported on mill creek road at glen road. Lets take you over to West Conshohocken right now. Looking good on the schuylkill at 23. Some building volume. No major problems right now unlike last evening all lanes opened matt and erin. Thank you karen. Detectives are trying to figure out why gunfire went off inside a moving car risking catastrophe along that schuylkill expressway. It involved a 22yearold man and his dad. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick is live at the belmont barracks of the Pennsylvania State police. Annie. Reporter yes, state police still have so many questions about why that 22yearold opened fire in that moving vehicle during rush hour that, of course, struck his father in the head. This father now in critical but stable condition at the hospital. Take a look at this video. This is video from that scene. Like we said during rush hour traffic on the schuylkill expressway. It happened just before 6 00 p. M. Now, according to state police, three people, three family members were in the back were in this white Buick Lacrosse when the drivers son allegedly opened fire inside the vehicle from the back seat striking his dad in the head. Nowing this all unfolded by mile marker 332 near Spring Garden street in West Conshohocken montgomery county. The car came to a stop and did not cause any other accidents. Paramedics happened to be driving nearby. The victim was taken to penn Presbyterian Hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition. There was another person in the vehicle who we are told was not harmed. Traffic did not completely clear until around 8 00 p. M. Now, the 22yearold was immediately taken into custody. The gun was recovered from the scene but at this hour at last check with state police, and we just walked in there, they tell us that no charges have been filed. A White South Carolina Police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black man has been formally charged with murder. [gunfire] 50yearold walter scott was running a way when Michael Slager fired eight times which is was just heard. Authorities say the officer had already hit scott with a stun gun after scott was down officer slager places him in handcuffs. Now, this all started with a traffic stop saturday. Officer slager then reportd that scott had tried to take his taser but Officials Say the video is evidence of an Unjustified Deadly force. Well have much more on the investigation coming up in our next half hour. New video has emerged in the Controversial Police takedown of a man in vineland, new jersey. That man later died. Police were called to the 100 block of grape street on march 31st. Residents say 32yearold philip white was on the sidewalk acting strange. And when Police Showed up they saw white, they say he resisted and even tried to grab a canine officers gun. This video shows a police dog attacking while the officer throws punches. White later died at the hospital. Autopsy results have not been released. This death sparked threats from hackers online who posted the personal information of the officers involved. The family needs answers. Their family needs answers. We all need answers to this. Why . Why did they go this far . Whites family held a viewing at Shiloh Baptist church last night. The Cumberland County Prosecutors Office is investigating. Vinelands police chief has called the incident a tragedy. The officers involved are on administrative leave. As we take a look outside, we have clouds out there, a little bit of bouncing on the camera down the shore and elsewhere across the region as it is a little bit on the breezy side and certainly cooler than it was yesterday. 44 degrees is your current temperature in philadelphia, 44 in allentown, 44 in wilmington, 43 in trenton and only 42 at the boardwalk in Sea Isle City and in Atlantic City obviously its cooler morning than it was yesterday. In fact, weve got a 24hour change that exhibits that rather well. Were actually 16 degrees cooler right now than we were this time yesterday morning and even the afternoon is going to stay much cooler. Heres what it looks like the rest of the way on future tracker six. For the morning, just a couple of sprinkles and showers mainly to the south. Then after the rush hour by 10 00 or 10 30 well be on the lookout for a line of precipitation sitting out on the other side of State College right now to start to come in and get the majority of the region wet. Now these will again be kind of spotty showers that wont have a major impact but your roads will get wet and so will you as they come through. Then later this afternoon were back to just cloudy skies, a little drizzle, a couple can of very spotty showers. That pattern continues straight through the rush hour so i dont expect there to be big problems for the evening rush and it looks like most of the rest of the evening is also dry with some spotty showers. So, if youre headed to the phillies game later tonight theyll get it in but you want to dress warmly and prepare for the possibility of a little quick hitting shower. Cloudy and damp in allentown with a high of 44 today. Down the shore were going to go for mainly cloudy skies breezy a spotty shower possible and a high of 46 right next to that cool ocean water. Theres tomorrows 10 30 in the morning view and then we get into the afternoon and theres a little chance of a more steady rain building in especially from about philadelphia north through a portion of the afternoon but then in the evening it looks like were back to just the spotty drizzle. And overall over the next two days only about a half inch of rain each day. These are the two day totals so this is not a big rain event neither today nor tomorrow. Developing overnight about 170 firefighters from 30 Different Companies battled a blaze at a commercial building in los angeles. Flames shot up from the roof as firefighters climbed ladders to rescue a trapped couple. You can see it right there. The deputy fire chief says the building was not required to have sprinklers because of its age. Crews are investigating the cause of the fire. Heres a brand new story a tragic crash in a School Parking lot killed a woman in the Lehigh Valley. It happened outside tracy elementary in Palmer Township last night. Police say the victim experienced mechanical issues with her car and when she tried to get out the vehicle began rolling. The study by the National Institutes of Health Examined more than 500 couples struggling to get pregnant. Researchers found fertility in men was far more negatively affected by the 29 chemicals that are ultravioletly filters than in women. Researchers are not advising against using sunscreen but say if a couple is struggling to get pregnant then immediately wash off the sunscreen once youre out of the sun and consider limiting the use of other products with these ultraviolet filter chemicals. Atlantic city picking up some of this. Cape may looks like yarr dune south of the main batch pushing off the coast. Looks like Chester County might get caught with some of that stuff coming in out of lancaster over the next hour. Theres more precipitation moving east of pittsburgh and after the morning rush hour and before lunchtime well see that creeping through for an hour or two and so everybody gets a little wet from that. Winds have shifted out of the southwest now out of the northeast just as we projected and that has brought in cooler air and it is breezy so bundle up with temperatures in the low to mid 40s this morning. As we roll through the day the numbers dont change very much. Down to 43 by 8 oclock. By noon up to 4513 clock thats as high as youre going get today 47 degrees so much cooler than it was the last couple of days and at times a sprinkle or a shower around. We begin at the big board with the latest on the South Carolina Police Officer who is now charged with murder. Thats 33yearold Michael Slager. He was arraigned overnight. The white officer is accused of killing an unarmed black man following a traffic stop. Heres video chilling. It broke the case wide opened and its difficult to watch. Were going to pause it partway through this. Now, the man identified as 50yearold walter scott appears to be running away from the officer who then fired eight shots into the mans back. Were pausing it right there. North Charleston Police say scott was shot after the officer already hit him with a stun gun. Slagers former Attorney Says the patrolman felt threatened and that scott was trying to grab the taser. That lawyer dropped slager as a client yesterday. Scotts family says they plan to sue the Police Department. He needs to know that that wasnt an animal that he killed. He was my son. Let the Police Department reform themselves because there has to be change. And we need change. Now the fbi also plans to investigate this shooting. Thanks, matt. Action news is staked out at state police right now awaiting an update on the schuylkill expressway shooting case. It happened at the height of the evening commute. Authorities say a 22yearold man in the back seat of a buick shot his father in the head while he was driving the car. This happened near Spring Garden street in West Conshohocken. The car came to a stop and did not cause any other accidents. Police took the accused shooter into custody. The victim is in critical but stable condition. A jury returned for a second day of deliberations in the Boston Marathon bombing trial. The panel deciding the fate of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev met for more than seven hours yesterday going line by line through the 32 page verdict form. The jury center two notes to the judge who is expected to issue responses today. Of the 30 charges tsarnaev faces, 17 carry the possibility of the death penalty. New video has surfaced of a vehicle that police are linking to a kidnapping and assault in center city. This van has been spotted along the 700 block of Chestnut Street over the past movement it is the same area where three men abducted an employee from jewelers row on saturday. They were trying to force her to give the code to the safe where she worked. She didnt have it. So they drove her around beat her and then shackled her and dumped her in a cemetery. As we take a look outside we have cloudy skies over the airport. Looks like its dry on the air field itself though, as its been awhile since weve seen any of that rain. Winds eastnortheast at 12 Miles Per Hour so we are looking at a chilly one out there and as we take a look at future tracker six it does look like its going to stay on the cool side today. And a little bit damp. There is a line of showers pushing east of pittsburgh right now and future tracker by 10 30 has these coming in through the western suburbs could even be in places like reading and lancaster as early as 10 oclock and then that sweeps through and the rest of the afternoon right on up to 3 oclock really looks like its just cloudy, breezy owe breezy, cool ann little damp with and occasional drizzle an spotty shower. More of the same for the evening commute. Theres the 6 oclock view and more of the same as we go through the evening hours right on up to 11 oclock. The temperatures today arent changing all that much. 43 degrees by 8 oclock. By 11 oclock, 44 degrees and then 46 degrees by 2 oclock. 47 degrees is your forecast high this afternoon. And so staying in the 40s and staying rather uncomfortable. 47 degrees in philadelphia. 47 in wilmington. 44 is your high in allentown. 47 in Cape May County. Everybody beneath the clouds dealing with that cool breeze coming down out of the northeast an spotty shower cant be ruled out at times. For the phillies tonight theyll get the game in but i would dress warmly and maybe bring a little watery assistant poncho or hood. 43 degrees at the first pitch 42 in the ninth inning. There is the chance of a spotty shower or a sprinkle during the game but i think your Biggest Issue is that temperature. Youll wants to make sure youre dressed appropriately for that. Then on thursday were still cool because that frontal boundary has that has settled to our south today it stays down to the south tomorrow and that means another day in the 50s and were also looking at another day where there could at times be a sprinkle or shower popping through. The morning looks mainly dry with just a couple showers around. After about two or 3 oclock the northern suburbs could get into the a two or threehour period where its rather damp and then tomorrow evening were back to just that spotty precipitation again and hopeful that bodes well for tomorrow nights phillies game. 47 is todays high chilly and damp. 49 tomorrow, another chilly and occasionally damp day. Then warmer on friday with a high of 73. A cold front comes through in the evening though, and ahead of it in the afternoon and evening we are looking at the possibility of a shower or a thunderstorm. Again, that is late friday and friday evening. Then thats gone for the weekend and on saturday were breezy and sunny a high around 63 degrees. Decent weather for both the union and phillies and sunny and nice on sunday as the phillies end their first home stand. Thats going to be a nice afternoon foreign baseball with a high of 67. Breaking overnight a judge has denied a request to let president obamas immigration action take effect. The executive action sought to shield millions of immigrants from deportation. A federal judge in texas granted a preliminary injunction in february at the request of 26 states that oppose the action. The u. S.
