Of gray and some breaks in the snow. So, this is wrapping up fairly quickly in the northern and western suburbs. Allentown and reading down to the last snowflakes. In philadelphia were still under a pretty good bright band of white snow and that is the heavy stuff and that extends down through much of south jersey. A good portion of delaware starting to dry out and Cumberland County and salem county is getting toward the end as well. Cape may also getting just the lighter snow. Still coming down heavily from philadelphia over to Atlantic City. Until 10 oclock we have a winter storm warning in effect through philadelphia Delaware County and parts of bucks montgomery and chester county. Farther to the northern and west its an advisory. This may fall off the map a little early depending on how the snow tapers off. For now i would expect until 9 or 10 oclock to see snow falling in some areas. It will be beyond that by the time the plow trucks can get out there and clean everything up. Expect delays during the morning rush. We have had heavy snow overnight especially south and east of philadelphia but in the city its fairly decent. Several inches on the ground and a lot of snow covered roads yet. 14 degrees, too, so you have to bundle up. 10 right now in allentown, 13 in millville and theres a bit of a wind blowing not real strong but enough to give you a wind chill, 5 degrees thats what it feels like so, yeah, lots of layers. A tricky tuesday getting to school. A lot of schools going in but late which is probably not a bad idea considering were still looking at snow for a bit. Todays high later on will be 30 and well probably get some sun back in play. All right karen give us the scoop on the roads. David, weve had three different accidents involving jackknifed tractortrailers. Heres the latest one just coming in to us right now. Looking live in norristown, jackknifed tractortrailer and looks like a car facing sideways blocking the right lane. Traffic very slow in this area and it needs to be moving slowly because you have 45 miles an hour speed restrictions on all your area highways in pennsylvania. Switching over to the vine street expressway here, past the schuylkill, this is your westbound traffic right here and you can see how its snow covered through the area. Watching a plow train move through right now trying to clear out the roadways and you see people moving pretty slowly through this area. Give yourself a lot of space when you see the plow trains coming through. Expect it to be slick out here. The main roads are just as slippery as secondary roads. Well take another live look and see what it looks like. Look at the reduced visibility as we switch our camera. The snow is kind of blowing across the highway southwest philadelphia, i95 at airport. Be careful when you make those areas around the curve right there particularly slick. In hatfield weve got an asked on cow path road, a water main break in lansdale. As if you need more problems. Thats greenwood road. Also in new jersey, this is what it looks like on 42 northbound traffic moving slowly. We do have speed restrictions of 45 miles an hour in pennsylvania, 35 miles an hour on the new jersey turnpike. Here were looking at 295 a disabled vehicle approaching warwick road and we have somebody who tweeted me saying on 295 itself from 42 to exit 40, which is 38, says its a free for all. No accidents yet but a lot of close calls and thats what i found driving to work. It was hard to see where the lines are on the roadways when the highways and are snow covered, tam. Lets go to an area way lot of inclines, declines, thats roxborough. Thats where we found action News Reporter erin ohearn. Good morning. Reporter good morning, it sounds like its an Obstacle Course which sometimes it is driving through the Roxborough Manayunk area and this morning is no different. Even though this snowfall has really let up in the last hour, you can see these roads are very messy. And some of the plow trucks have gone through this area and are trying to push some of the snow and the ice out of the way for morning commuters but again, some of the snow is still falling so it makes it a little difficult. People really are taking their time as they pass through this area as they should and its not just manayunk and roxborough, it is really the main roads too that have some treacherous conditions out so you want to be careful. We talked to some folks who gave us an update on their travels and one man said to definitely give yourself some extra time. Take a listen. Its slippery, very slippery. Its like ice under the snow and its use a little bit of common sense, common courtesy youll make it. Just take your time, thats all. Reporter as long as you have some good tunes in the background it makes the ride nice and easy. I love the 40s. Reporter i actual wolf love 40degree temperatures right now. That would sound down right balmy. Now, this snow is light and fluffy as you can see so its pretty easy to shovel and as we said, the snowfall has lightened up a bit so in a few hours, we should be good to go but if you can, delay your commute this morning, you should. Give these plow trucks some time to get through and clear the roads and of course slow down your speeds as you head out. Well have another update in about a half hour. For now were live in roxborough, erin ohearn channel6 action news. Back to you. Erin thank you. Lets take you over into new jersey. This is millville, new jersey, in Cumberland County. You can see it is a blanket of white there both on the sides of the road and the roadway itself. The snow is still coming down. David says this is right on the line. It could end up being three to six or actually six to nine. Even if you have four wheel drive i do too and definitely felt a little bit of slipping and sliding. Its a good idea to give yourself some extra time and space as were hearing all area up. No matter how many tires you got moving when its on ice, right you just slide. Thats Philadelphia International airport certainly there clearing off the run ways there. We have dozens upon dozens of cancellations up and down the east coast. Here in philadelphia also the airports in new york city and charlotte, also down in baltimore washington international, so call ahead. Might be a rough day if you have a business trip or just have a flight that you have to catch today. Lets go to action News Reporter john rawlins who is live for us in new castle delaware. Good morning, john. Reporter hi, matt. We stay on our post here on route 13. Snow continues to fall here. Road along the traffic along route 13 beginning to pick up. Still a little light i think for this time of the day. Road crews have been plowing and they have been salting. Road conditions at best iffy. Though showing some signs of improvement. According to drivers we just talked to. Its okay. Its not great but its not horrible. The roads are manageable if you take your time. Reporter theyre passible. Passible. Reporter traction. Traction is 5050 i would say. Reporter sort of spotty at times. Yes. Theres spots on the roads where the road crews have done a good job and its pretty clear and theres other spots where theyre a little behind. Reporter and when you hit your brakes what can that do. Youll slide a bit. Pretty good. The roads are not really slippery. Theyre a little slushy stuff like that but doesnt seem like theyre frozen from where i came from. Reporter not too bad. Not too bad. When youre braking, same thing. As long as you prepare the brake and stuff like that, its pretty good. Its not the sliding part and stuff like that. Its pretty good. Reporter so take it easy. Take it easy dry slow and stay far apart from the person in front of you, you should be good. Reporter back to a live picture there of route 13. I think the key words there was take it slow, keep your spacing and be careful as you drive today. It is still a Winter Driving situation. Live in new castle, john rawlins channel6 action news. Back to you all. Thank you john. Take it slow and you should be good. The watch words of the morning. Yeah, New Castle County delaware one of the spots where the snow is letting up right now. Storm tracker 6 live double scan, we had been looking at snow all night long but as we have been saying since weve been on the air at 4 00 it looks like it will be a quick departure cherry. North and west of philadelphia theres a breakup with lighter snow in gray. In philadelphia were still looking at fairly significant snowfall with that bright shade of white right over center city and pushing up into northeast philadelphia so these areas still accumulating at this point and the farther you go down through south jersey theres a little bit that of darker gray but weve still got a lot of the bright white heading down toward Atlantic City as well. And ill go ahead down there. These areas still accumulating as well. Atlantic city itself appears to be maybe diminishing a little bit and out to the west of there in places like millville and bridgeton we really do have a lot less snow than we had in the majority of the overnight hours. In fact down in smyrna delaware and middletown delaware its also breaking up. Farther north we go now up in wilmington yeah, still snowing but not as heavily as it once was and out in the northern and western suburbs places like allentown and reading, also just lighter snow at this point with a couple of slightly white bands, some brighter bands but these really arent doing a whole lot of additional snow. Allentown looks like youre getting on the other side of that same thing in reading and ill leave you with that wider view. All of this is pushing over to the east and we are seeing some improvement over the next hour or so philadelphia should be winding down to just lighter snow and were already seeing that in parts of the city. As we take a look outside we do have cloudy skies out there continuing to try and track the ben franklin bridge and we are looking on the ben franklin right now at continuing snow and traffic really crawling kind of slowly on i95, too. A lot of times when these snowfalls come in a little earlier in the overnight hours, were seeing traffic by now move faster but its really crawling because we still have a lot of snow coverage on even the majors right now. 15 degrees is your current temperature. Its cold. Winds are light at five but weve still got wind chills in the Single Digits so bundle up. Whoevers how the snow looked overnight. At 9 oclock it was real light, not even all of it reaching the ground. By the time we got up to 11 oclock or midnight we were looking at those bands of heavier snow moving in and that continued overnight but now again we are starting to see the tail end of this with lesser snowfall out in the northern and western suburbs and down to the south in philadelphia still stubbornly hanging on to that last little patch. Doesnt look like it will be around that much longer though. Between now and 7 oclock there might be still some snow falling in parts of south jersey but we think were going to be much improved after about 7, 8 oclock and by 9 oclock or so it looks like the snow is over even by the coast. What to expect this morning . Well, roads are still slippery right now. Theres no doubt about that. We had some heavy bands of snow overnight. Some of it is still falling in those places i just showed you and its going to take awhile for the plow trucks to get out there and salt and clear and get the roads back into shape. Association for the next couple of hours still expected to be fairly slippery. The snow itself will be light and fluffy though so its easy to shovel once you get out there. Kind of bad for building snow men so theres nothing else for the kids to do if theyre on a delay this morning but to get out there and do some shoveling for you. 1 to 3inch center city what we were calling for up in the northern and western suburbs and i think thats going to verify pretty well. In west allentown were up to 2. 3inches as of about an hour ago, the airport less. The three to six also looks pretty good up and around the i95 corridor as we have a lot of fours and 5s coming in, a couple of spots a little over five and those are not final numbers. I dont know that too many of us are going to get up to that 9inch total down south though. Youre probably looking at more along the line of 6inches or so although the snow isnt totally done down there so well see what the final tabulations go for. Three to six looks like a pretty good ballpark for most of you this morning. 16 degrees. Snow tapers off. By 11 00 what was dry cloudy at 24. Could get sun back in play later on and your high today of 30. Your exclusive accuweather 7day snow ending over the next several hours from west to east. 30 is your high. Tomorrow 32 a snow shower late is also possible and then the next big weather story of the week arrives. Thursday and friday another arctic snap, highs in the upper teens lows in the Single Digits. Friday morning in particular could mirror what we just experienced on monday morning with overnight lows around one in philadelphia. And below zero in some other spots. And some precipitation this weekend, afternoon snow showers saturday mainly rain sunday. February is making up for lost time. Yeah. Thank you david. 6 12 now and our storm coverage continues. Lets get another live look here. Were in mays landing Atlantic County where were expecting a lot of snow here, could see up to 6inches maybe more. You just have to take my word for it. Lets go to karen rogers. Looking live in morrisville in bucks county. Its slippery. The road is snow covered. Be careful as you exit off for the ramp thats kind of hard to see as youre headed out. Well check in with the blue route, 422. Well take a live look at everything and see what those roads look like before you head out the door when action news comes back looking live in mays landing right now. Welcome back. Youre taking a live look here into the roxborough section of philadelphia near where our erin ohearn has been stationed at ridge and cinnaminson and were told there is a fire station right there across the street. You can see the firemen. They are busy. They got the snowblower going theyve got involves out there trying to make sure that everything is clear in case of an emergency and they have to head out. Sandwich. A sandwich would be nice. If they did have to head out one thing they would have to deal with as you make those turns you feel the snow and ice. Lets go karen. I have sands wind chills on my mind. When its a isnt he what was day you want to eat a little more. Some of your main roads could be just as slippery as the secondary roads. Were seeing that with another accidents. This is our third jackknifed tractortrailer on the blue route. It is northbound near ridge pike and you can see that jackknifed tractortrailer. A number of emergency workers on the scene, all blocking its right lane. Penndot is on the scene and youre traveling slowly in the eighth. We have speed restrictions of 45 miles an hour on the blue route, on the schuylkill, on i95 as well as 422. Were looking live here on 422. You can still see the snow pretty lightly coming down at this point. Just saw a few flakes flying and thats it. Eastbound traffic headed towards king of prussia, the road here on 422 looking better than it did about an hour ago but we have an accident westbound past royersford so watch for that. Were seeing a handful of accidents. Lets switch over to south philadelphia and show you what it looks like. I95 right here at the walt whitman bridge, we had an earlier tractortrailer that was jackknifed here. Now weve got a disabled vehicle or two vehicles off to the side right here. So watch for slow go in this area. Dont forget the speed restrictions and you can see that the roads pretty snow covered right here so its hard to make out which lane youre in as youre traveling and i think thats affecting people as they head out on the roads. Lets see what it looks like on the boulevard. This is southbound traffic headed towards the schuylkill. Youre moving okay here, even on the boulevard youve got those speed restrictions in place but also southbound at pratt the inner drive we have an accident just coming in to us on the boulevard there so a few things to watch out for and i have been tweeting out all of the accidents and Road Conditions with the 6abc traffic. David has been showing us the back edge the system drying out in delaware now in parts of south jersey as well. Lets take a closer look at where youre still getting the snow. Right along the i95 corridor in philadelphia, trenton along route route 130 its coming down pretty good right here. This is the white horse pike. Weve got the Atlantic City expressway right here. 55 in those areas its still snow covered if youre coming from south jersey going to head up and over one of the bridges you have to be careful with all those roads being snow covered in this area. We have people on twitter talking about 295 kind of feeling like it was a free for all because its hard to see where the lanes were. 15 degrees right now in philadelphia but only 10 in allentown, 14 in millville. And thats part of the problem that its tricky to be effective when you have less than 15 degrees in the area matt and tam. Thanks karen. Annie mccormick is watching snow totals mount in mays landing and she joins us live. Hey annie. Reporter hey matt. Good advice from people. You just saw that car drive by me. Theyre going at normal speed of them here on the black horse pike in mays landing. They need to slow down. We saw some cars coming out of the wawa skidding out. Cars that dont have the ability to have a heavier car like a truck that are able to really go through these snow covered roadways. Take a look at the type of snow were seeing. It has lessened up. Almost looks like sugar. Thats kind of what were seeing right now. It is significantly lighter in the amount of snow that is falling at this hour and at this point were seeing a little bit over 4inches. Well we caught up with several drivers today to hear how the roadways are around the area and heres what they had to say. Seemed like theyre just Getting Started now at least down this end. Nothing down the end that we came from. Reporter and pretty dont you think . If you like white yes but if you got to work in it not so nice. Theyre not really plowing. Theyre just salting most of the trucks. Theres a couple here and there that are plowing but other than that its just treacherous. People just following in the tracks and trying to make your own road. Reporter and back out here live its fluffy but its still packable. Kids can still have a lot of fun with this and were of course starting to hear about more School Closings in the Atlantic County area. Some are still on a delay but more of those closings are coming in so good news for a lot of those kids that are hearing that. But again as far as the roadways go, taking a look again here at the black horse pike, you can see a lot of those cars. You heard karen talk about speed restrictions on a lot of the major roadways but youll have to do a lot of self imposed restrictions on some of the smaller roadways until the snow lets up and those plows and salt trucks come all the way through. For now reporting live in mays landing Atlantic County, Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Annie thank you for that latest from where you are. And of course were keeping an eye around the region and well keep doing that when we come back. Lets check in with david. I want to real quickly remind you that a lot of your kids are delayed but still headed to school. Bundle them up. The snow will probably be over in most neighborhoods by eight to 10 clock but its still going to be cold with a high of 30 this afternoon, a little bit breezy so bundle them up. Well be back with another look at Storm Tracker 6 double scan and ill give you your day planner. That cause our symptoms. The leading allergy pill only controls one, flonase controls six. If the last 3 letters were p22, thats me. 6 23. Were traveling along the avenue of the arts, broad street in philadelphia. As you see, some people are out there right now. The roads are slushy and snowy and also quite slick. Well have a traffic report coming up in a few moments. David. All right, as you take a look at those pictures a lot of at least partial snow covered still left over on the roads. Weve had heavy snow overnight but were seeing some improvement in the northern and western suburbs, allentown and reading getting close to being done with with this. Wilmington with lighter snow for maybe another 30 to 60 minutes. Philadelphias probably holding onto the snow until about 7 or 8 oclock this morning but it will be getting less and less intense and over in south jersey there are still some batches of fairly steady snow but were also seeing some drying there. As we roll through the day were in the teens right now with wind chills in the Single Digits. Winds fairly light. Well still be in the teens by 9 oclock. Getting up to a high of 30 later and again that snow tapering off between probably seven and 9 oclock across most of the regionally well be right back with your top stories dunkins new White Chocolate raspberry lattes are topped with heartshaped sprinkles and made with rich White Chocolate and fruity raspberry flavors. Get a medium hot latte for only 1. 99. America runs on dunkin. Its a snowy icy commute out there this morning and that can be tricky. Lets go to matt pelman. Snowy icy fat tuesday at that. Expecting big fat delays as you head out on this tuesday morning. In delco were not seeing delays yet but were definitely seeing very slow speeds as you come northbound away from the delaware state line headed up towards the blue route. The road is still snow covered so its very slippery. Those speeds need to be slow and for the most people are going slow but some people are running into things. A crash in the allentown area on 22 eastbound between cedarcrest boulevard and one of my favorites mock chunk road. Stay down on 78 but thats going to be slick as well. Also word of a new crash coming in Mercer County on 295 southbound the vehicle ran off the road and over on the turnpike southbound in the car lanes approaching 7a theres a crash in the left lane. Septas route 35 bus suspended as it often is in snow events like this, about 30 other buses running with detours. Regional rails on a normal schedule but were seeing some scattered delays. Matt and tam. Okay, matt thanks so much. 6 27 and our Team Coverage of the snowstorm continues. The action cam is lie in roxborough where it is extra treacherous due to those hilly streets. You are taking a live look here in king of prussia, 202 Henderson Road where that snow has been falling and you can see the accumulation there on the roadway. Some parts. Region could see more than a half a foot of snow. Mobile6 has been traveling on treacherous streets. Temperatures in the teens are making it difficult to clear them of snow and ice. Accuweather has you covered as well. Storm tracker 6 live double scan radar is hard at work tracking the storm as it moves across the region. Philadelphia public and archdiocesan schools open on a twohour delay. Several other closings and delays are scrolling at the bottom of your screen and also listed on 6abc. Com. Good morning, it is 6 30 now on this tuesday february 17th. Lets go over to your accuweather team. Weve got dave murphy taking a look at that weather and karen rogers has traffic. Good morning. We just showed you on Storm Tracker 6 a second ago how the snow is thinning out a little bit in the northern and western suburbs. Still coming down here on the terrace fairly well. As we take a look a winter storm warning is still in effect until 10 oclock including philadelphia, Delaware County and the southern reaches of chester bucks and Montgomery County its an advisory farther north and west. General 3 to 6 inches is falling in the pink areas. Out to the north and west a little less but generally snow covered streets. The snow is expected to start to diminish though from west to east. Were already seeing a little bit of that but even in philadelphia probably by about 8 oclock or 9 oclock this morning it will be really thinning out and over by the shore perhaps a little later. Some snowfall amounts bryn mawr 5. 2inches, ridley park 5inches here are some new numbers from abington four and a half inches, malvern 4inches west allentown 2. 3. Less up in the Lehigh Valley as expected. Over in delaware and south jersey a couple new numbers we just pulled down. Moorestown 5. 5, mullica township 3. 5inches. That 4. 2 is a former reading from i believe burlington county. Merchantville four, pemberton three. Ewing township is up to 4pint five, a late number that just came in a couple minutes ago. Cape may is taking the cake. Cape may in the southern portion of new jersey is up to 7inches and snow really kind of winding down there. For the morning rush because of the snow that weve had overnight even though its beginning to diminish a lot of snow covered roads still out there so expect delays, several inches on the ground across much of the region. Your temperature right now 15 degrees and only going to 30 later. Karen, it does look like the snow will be winding down between now and about 9 or 10 oclock this morning. Already diminishing in a lot of the areas but that doesnt mean that the roads instandly get better. And were seeing that right now. You can see that people are moving okay in spots and other spots even on the main roads its slippery and weve got accidents. This is a jackknifed tractortrailer. You could still see that tractortrailer jackknifed right here. A number of emergency workers on the scene blocking the right lane. This is the blue route northbound at ridge pike. You can see how slowly everyone is going. Youve got 45 miles an hour speed restrictions in place in the area highways. Road conditions themselves have improved and you can see at least the surface of the road in this area but thats not the case everywhere. Switching over to i95, this is your southbound traffic more and more people coming on the roads slowing down on i95 southbound approaching cottman so be careful. People have been tweeting me saying northeast philadelphia having a tough ride in some of the suburbs there so be careful. Switching over to the boulevard right now lets see what it looks like. This is you were southbound traffic headed towards the schuylkill. In this area were moving okay but were getting word of a number of spinout accidents on the boulevard and its specifically past cottman that theyre having problems. The salt just isnt doing a good enough job there and they need plows out there so police have been calling for plows, a number of spinout accidents on the boulevard. This is just coming in to us northbound north past cottman you want to watch for those accidents that are out there and looking like they need more plows to come and help that scene. Lets see what it looks like in new jersey. We had a couple accidents this morning on 42 right now youre seeing speeds move okay at this point. More people coming on the roads. Can you see the road surface . Its not very clear at this point because we do have snow cover on the roadway so be careful right there. I just got off the phone with police in Gloucester County and theyre telling me about an accident, its just hang right now, its a spinout accident, one vehicle on 295 its southbound in west Deptford Township so be careful about that as youre heading out and i know john had been tweeting me on 295 he said its a free for all if youre traveling northbound between 42 and route 38. Its just lard to see where the lanes are because its so snow covered matt and tam. Karen thanks. Breaking news. Philadelphia Public Schools have just decided to close rather than open on a delay. Were checking with the archdiocese to see if theyll follow suit but again philadelphia Public Schools are closed today. Lets check in with our Annie Mccormick continuing our south jersey coverage giving us more of a sense of why philadelphia schools made a decision like this. Good morning annie. Reporter good morning matt and tam. I want to go back to what karen was just saying about those snow covered roadways and what some viewers are saying about what you got to look out for. A plow actually just went through here just moments ago so were able to see some of the blacktop here on the black horse pike. And you can see vehicles here finding those tire tracks and where cars before them went. And a salt truck just went on the opposite lane of the black horse pike as well but its still snow covered. You still have to take your time and a lot of the smaller roadways down here in Atlantic County have not been cleared and youve got to add here to those speed restrictions on some of the major roadways. As for the snowfall, you can see right here it is significantly lighter than it was over the past several hours, between 11 00 and 3 00 was when it seemed to be the heaviest. Then it picked up again, off and on between 3 00 up until now and now this is the lightest that we have seen since all of the snowfall began. Take a look at this video. This is video of some of those plow trains coming through earlier this morning. We initially saw them coming through around 3 00 a. M. Also with salt trucks but again several hours later more snow fell, several inches in fact so they had to come back on through. Now, besides the major roadways, also theres a lot of private contractors out here that are doing area driveways. Theres actually a car dealership that were next to. Theyll have a lot of work to to do clearing off those cars. Back out here live the type of snow is beautiful. If youre going to get snow at least have it look good. We, of course, have spelled out 6abc. Were having a little bit of fun. At this point, this is kind of that sugar snow where youre having this lighter coating almost like a icy mix thats now falling on here making it pretty. But along with that icy mix making it look beautiful youre also going to get a layer of ice on those roadways. Got to adhere to the speed restrictions and even self impose some of them if youre on those back roadways. Thats what were seeing here in mays landing Atlantic CountyAnnie Mccormick. Thank you annie. Mobile6 making its way down the ben franklin parkway and more breaking news. We just told you philadelphia Public Schools have decided to close. Now were just hearing the philadelphia archdiocesan schools will also be closed today. So both philadelphia public and archdiocesan schools will be closed dealing with all this snow. Lets go to action News Reporter erin ohearn live in the roxborough section of philadelphia and unfortunately erin they cant make snow men when theyre off school today its just not that right kind of snow. Reporter no, but i have a feeling my kids are going make me try. Ill probably be dressed in this gear for the rest of the day because they have off. Now, if you take a look behind me the snow has really tapered off. But as david was saying, just because the snow stopped falling, doesnt mean that the Road Conditions suddenly improve. There are cars moving through and as you can see theyre passing pretty well but i was on 476 this morning and 76 and i have to tell that you plows that crews have a lot of work to do. So, some of these delays and School Closings are probably a good idea so they can get the job done. And we did talk to one crew who said that they will be out until at least noon today cleaning up. Its pretty easy. We can use leaf blowers and just like salting cause its so cold. Reporter what would you suggest to people as they head out this morning . Drive slow and, i dont know dress warm. Reporter yeah. Okay so if you need some positive news today, i found this on my iphone. Its days until spring. 31 days, 12 hours, seven minutes and 57 seconds. My advice would be not to stare at that all day because it does make it go by a little bit slower but thats your positive angle from roxborough this morning. Take it slow when youre heading out for work or school. Live from roxborough, erin ohearn channel6 action news. Back to you guys. Does it turn into a time machine . Can it get us into summer . I dont think so. If only. Reporter oh, i hope. All right. Well, police were out in the snow overnight investigating a one car crash in Upper ProvidenceDelaware County. The action cam was on route 1 near route 252. The driver was not injured. In fact, he left the scene. Lets get more on the mardi gras storm. It is fat tuesday. It is fat tuesday. Thats right. Were not partying. Snow is kind of fat overnight, too, but its beginning to diminish now which is nice. Storm tracker 6 live double scan shows you a lot more gray on the map than that bright shade of white and thats the less intense snow. If we go in closer you can see that that last big heavy bright white band just pushing away from center city philadelphia. Ill let that lapse one more time so you can see it pushing over into burlington county. Northeast philadelphia also seeing less intense snow. Of course this is still coming down back through pottstown and coatesville and malvern. Just not as heavily as it was earlier. Doylestown also getting some of this. And were continuing to get some improvement in south jersey and southern delaware where a lot of drying is taking place. About halfway down through New Castle County, delaware and south, Cape May County drying out after picking up about 7inches of snow down on the point and then millville also in the process of drying out. If we go ahead and take the wider view, allentown just about ready to say goodbye to the snow. Reding is drying at this point, lancaster as well and wilmington and philadelphia still have this last little prong to get through but then well be done there as well and its looking like by about 9 oclock this morning most of the area will be dry. We might still see some stuff hanging over by the north jersey shore but things are improving. As we take a look outside, we have cloudy skies of course and its still snowing. Weve had some cancellations at Philadelphia International airport this morning. At least 50 flights or so have been canceled and there may be other problems related to delays at other airports. If youre catching a flight check with your a airline to make sure everything is aokay. Temperatures are cold. 15 degrees right now in philadelphia, 13 in wilmington. The winds not all that strong but wind chills in most cases are in the Single Digits so bundle up as you head out. So, what to expect this morning . Well, im still going to warn you for slippery roads even in places where the snow is beginning to die down. Because it will take awhile for the plow crews and salt trucks to get out there and clear everything and we have seen a lot of accidents this morning and a lot of snow covered roads. The snow itself, however is light and fluffy and now that all you kids arent going to school anymore, hey, get them up and tell them to shovel. Its not that hard avenue job. Remember two shovels wide, too. I have a little problem with my kids sometimes with that over the years, two shovels wide not just one so youre doing like. That its also bad for snow men today. Maybe its an indoor day today or i dont know how good the sledding is going to be with that light fluffy snow but thats what weve got. Morning snow tapering off in allentown right now. Chilly this afternoon with a high of 26 ann little windy not too bad with the winds today. 34 is your high at the shore. So, snow winding down over the neck several hours. By 10 00 we should be bone dry but well probably still be waiting for the plows to get out to some of those lesser roads and get them cleaned up. It will take a good portion of the day to get that going. Wednesday clouds in the morning, snow showers possible in the afternoon and evening a high of 32. Probably not a big accumulation there. Well keep tracking it. The next big story is thursday and friday as another yet another arctic snap arrives highs in the upper teens lows in the Single Digits. Wont be as windy as it was on monday morning but it is going to be another pretty brutal day and then saturday a snow shower building in in the afternoon.
